Its actually the aftermarket & Chinese collision parts market thats killing used salvage yard parts markets, unless those parts don't go on the internet with insurance company providers data ,they usually sit ,but also big mega salvage businesses also monopolize the markets like LKQ & make it hard for small independent scrappers
the yards do this to themselves as well. A fair price is a fair price but so many times you walk into a yard and they quote you $100 for a front bumper cover and you offer 75 and they won't take it and here's 150 bumper covers going into a crusher that made exactly $0 and in fact actually cost money. Obviously they can't price themselves out of business but if they would have sold each of these bumper covers for $50 they'd be $5,000 ahead.
My daughter has a Kia sportage like the one you crushed! It took me forever to find a good used engine! Two scams later I finally found one in Fort Worth.
