- Today’s video takes us up to the back down the ranges of Kirkcudbright, where we find odd comets of unknown origins, shredded tanks torn apart, mystery machines and fight the cow king for access to the tanks. This is the last of the range wreck walks of Kirkcudbright but hopefully many more will come
A big thanks to the MOD and the Kirkcudbright training area for the opportunity to have a look at these rare vehicles and to Peter Breakspear for getting this all organised!

I used to think its sad that so many tanks were sent to the firing ranges instead of being sent to museums. But I've realized as I've gotten older that you can't save everything and at least the tanks on the range are still with us in some form or another.
Flanking formation of local sheep… I spat my drink out after hearing that.
Me too :)
Lovely series of videos, very entertaining with an interesting insight the local wildlife too. Would avidly watch further videos on other range targets, was recently at Imber, where about half a dozen Chieftains were visible from the road if that's any help.
I did many helicopter operations exercises over Kircudbright around ‘98 - ‘00. Ex Swift Hawk. When that experimental rail gun carried out it’s test firing we all had to clear off the range because “secrets” and what have you. But we could still hear it go off. Bloody loud.
no cows were harmed in the production of this video 😆
These Range Wrecks videos have been fantastic. The old tanks have a surreal beauty to them. Thank you very much for making these.
I have just read the article by Alexander Volgin, your commentary mirrors his text, but seeing the explanation in text form makes it more easier to absorb. As I said, the Panther was still a potent adversary despite problematic armour quality. Thanks.
Nice series of videos . Back when they were testing on this range , I bet they had no idea how valuable and rare some of these tanks would become . It’s quite sad to see them in this state. But also it’s to late for many of them to be rescued and restored.
A great set of videos, thank you. I look forward to Otterburn and Salisbury Plain
By far the best and most informative tank channel on YT, I commend you Sir!
Yes MOD! I really liked these vid's!
So please let him do more?
Cheers
Some of us weirdo's really like looking at bits of chewed up old tanks... ;)
Very nice series.
I enjoyed your walks and casual but informative commentary, Other MOD sits spring to mind like Offord ness and Shoeburyness and its partner Foulness island would be good. Look forward to hearing from you in the future.
PS these sits are all in the south east so mig free.
I have thoroughly enjoyed this series and your knowledge and humour. The Australian Armour and Artillery museum get destroyed tanks like these and rebuild them. Their channel is worth checking out
The humor (cows and especially the "moo") is absolutely wonderful. I said once, in another video, and I'll say it again. You have a wonderful future, in combat vehicles + wildlife YT content. Watch out, world!!!
It’s a shame how many uncommon tanks are there, but at least you got them on camera
More Please!!!!!
I've really enjoyed this entire series: it's quite different from your usual videos, but still just as informative. I will admit feeling a sense of sadness though at these forgotten machines. It reminded me of some of Keith Laumer's Bolo stories.
Clegs are like a mutant midge with very big teeth.
I've had the buggers on this side of the Solway bight right through a sweatshirt, never mind a t shirt.
Thank you. Nice educational series. The modified Comet is intriguing. Those cattle were probably expecting you to feed out some sort of treat.
I served in Kings bks townhead kirkcudbright 3 years had ghostly true experiance there
lovely.
A nice beer in the evening is very pleasent great videos thanks for sharing
Thanks for showing the railgun and ETC gun facility. When I'm back from holiday, I can have a look through some conference proceedings to see if either of the names you mentioned was used in published articles.
Thank you for a fabulous series of videos.
An excellent series much enjoyed ,thank you 👍
These Vida are cool, hope you do get to do more range walks
Fantastic series thoroughly enjoyed watching. Hope your able to do more 😁
Hello, I was fascinated by your Panther Armour video. I don't know if you revisit your old presentations, so I will ask my questions here if I may. Weren't the Germans aware of the deficiencies in the armour, and didn't they attempt to correct them? Why in particular were the 50-80 mm plates effected? Was the composition of the steel different from say, that in the Tiger? Despite this failing the Panther was still feared on the battlefield, and the glacis was seemingly proof against most anti-tank shot at other than point blank range.
Outstanding NUFF SAID :)
Maybe it’s an ‘Ark’. The original ones were built on Churchills and perhaps this was an attempt to reproduce the concept?
Do any still have a working BV. The most important piece of kit on any tank
Rarden 30mm hits.
a small question, have they stopped shooting at these hard targets and why?
yes, no longer viable targets, you dont gain much from it and it showers the local area in toxic metals.
Like I said not in to tanks, but history yes.
More easy!
Does MOD keep there any wrecks peppered inside with DU shrapnel?
yes some on the hor ranges are stictly no go
What about the Cromwell
Does anyone have access to any photographs of the men running the range when it was active during WW2?
You were suppose to do the cow noises in a Scottish accent
You keep mentioning a certain "Malkawa" Or something that sounds similar, Do you have a video on it, If not, How is it spelled and where can I find proper information on it?
I assume it's the Malkara missile
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malkara_%28missile%29?wprov=sfla1
yes the Malkara missile,a huge ATGM - there will be a vid on it, but its complex tbh
@@armouredarchives8867 thank you!
So sad to see how they end up.
I have enjoyed this series good of
