Keith Ferris Wales (and indeed Britain) should be really proud of Chris Buck ; he’s easily up there with the greatest of the British blues/rock guitarists from the late 60s and 70s. Some of his soloing with Buck & Evans is stunning - try to catch them live when the pandemic restrictions have ended.
Chris Buck I need you to read this and really absorb it and let it sink in... You need to make an album and promote the shit out of it. I don't get all floored at every dude that can play something kind of cool on the guitar, but that's not the case with you. The one thing you are concitant with is everything I hear makes me go "wow that was cool, unique, and executed perfectly". Please write some original material and let everyone know when it comes out because myself along with A LOT of others would love to hear it. Thank you for your gift of music. It's appreciated..
This verison is free flowing, but JM's version maintain the tempo closer to prince's original song. It's a matter of personal interpretation imo. I like them both.
Wow! Such an incredible touch! One of the most exquisite use of bendings, slides and vibratos so far! Incredible playing! I've just subscribed on his channel.
You know, every single time I listen to you and that Strat, I just find myself smiling. I sort of wander off into an unconscious daydream and when I finally snap out of it I have a big cheesey grin on my face like a stupid kid. I can count on my 1 hand how many musicians I've ever heard who do that to me. David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Peter Green, Chris Buck. You're in there with Gods Chris because those guys between them shaped how we listen to music right now. Listen to Man of The World, Comfortably Numb, or Telegraph Road and not be moved in some way. I can feel that when I hear you play, and it's incredible, seriously. Awestruck!
Just found your channel by getting recommended your version of Dreams To Remember and I just have to say your playing of guitar had me in shock! You are amazing and i'd love to see you live someday! Shivers all over the place listening to you play. Holy crap!
@@ChrisBuckGuitar Can't seem to watch that video anymore for some reason though, it's this one czcams.com/video/DGIFaFOALdU/video.html it works for the first 10 or 15 seconds then it's just buffering. :(
i am glad to see i am not the only one who love Chris playing and, as a watch enthusiast, i am also interested in watches he wears. I am quite sure he is wearing a Steinhart Ocean One vintage on this video.
Pienso lo mismo! Pero ahora es cuando nos preguntamos, ¿Sería Chris Buck el mismo de no haber escuchado a Mayer? (También aplica para SRV, Dereck Trucks, Duane Allman...) Nunca lo sabremos...
Beautiful playing! I have a question and I'm serious - not trying to be a smart-alec. Does the rocking of your guitar up/down and back/forth have any affect upon the sound/sustain/whatever - or is it simply a habit or physical expression that develops over time for some that internally and subtly affects one's playing style/flow, mood, and on-the-fly choices? Or is it just an intentional visual performance thing? Regardless I've never been able to audibly pinpoint what effect it was having. I'm a guitarist myself and I see so many musicians doing this - yet I've never met one that had an answer or knew why they were doing it themselves.
Hi Chris! You're such an awesome player. Can i ask you, how you like to set up your Cali76? I have the same comp, but i use it very transparently. I suspect you might be using it very differently.
Søren Made Hey Søren. Thank you! I tend to use it pretty transparently as well. Funnily enough, That Pedal Show released an interview with me today. That covers my usage of the Cali76 🙂 In short though, everything at 12 apart from the output which is backed off to around 10 o’clock.
Thanks for the response. I watched the episode, and was amazed to find out, we're setting it completely similarly ... You're still just a 100 times better sounding than i'll ever be ;) It's a fantastic compressor.
Søren Made Absolutely man, the best compressor I’ve ever used. In fairness, there’ll be some compression on the overall track of this video as well, so if you’re hearing more compression than the settings imply, that’ll probably be it 🙂
That's a good point, the extra compression. there are a lot of places in the signal chain of a guitarist+recording+video/audio-treatment that can add compression. Thanks again :)
'Dynamics' doesn't really capture it man...it's like you whisper as well as you wail...it's sublime man. The intro just rolls into my mind now and then and I need to hear it.
The beautiful and sensitive soul of a poet, accessed by the conduit of his fingers. Sublime. I feel privileged just listening...
Beautiful sentiment.

One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. ☀️

Back on the Highway One there I see, still have mine but needs re-fretting, have worn the frets right out. Beautiful playing as always

Just love your work man... the feel is on another planet!!! Hope you keep these covers coming ... 🤞
Prince was my brother and favorite musician. Excellent job!
Absolutely beautiful,!!!!
Prince is smiling down at you Chris ☺️
This made me depressed, nostalgic, calm and satisfied all at once and im not really sure how or why
Amazing
Chris, you would do Prince Doves Cry.....would I expect anything but the best Buck Magic in action
a super-nostalgic beginning and a wislsienka on the runway... until the end
Guys the secret to his vibrato is the lose watch band. It gives it that extra something something. That being said the Centura sounds fantastic.
Amazing, beautiful music.
That was beautiful
Best version I have heard, and using a Vox Mini Five, superb.
Chris you are better than you realize👁🦄👁

Very moving, excellent tone. Nice job!
No need to apologise, Chris. Italy was great!! Just like your playing here ;-)
Chris I’ve just found your channel via Paul, superb playing. Also is that a Seamaster your wearing?
i am glad to see i am not the only one who love Chris playing and, as a watch enthusiast, i am also interested in watches he wears. I am quite sure he is wearing a Steinhart Ocean One vintage on this video.
Magnifique version !
Wow the intro alone got me reaching for my strat
The clean tone is pure gold. Did you use a clean boost sort of pedal in this?
it's beautiful and beautiful I want an explanation of the performance
Wow!
Wonderfull
Magnifique !!!! I love it !!!
Thank you, Chris. Really enjoyed this.
Awesome my friend!!!!
So Soothing,, thanks man.
Love it!
Sounds like the Catalinbread Echorec pedal or one of your other Echorec pedals as well as the Cali76. And it sounds amazing.
So beautiful man! Cheers from Belgium
THE BEST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent
Chris my beloved dog is dying help me. She pulled through and nothing compares to you(r) playing.
Maravilhoso!!!!!
Good stuff !
He plays as precisely as the Swiss clockwork on his hand
Wonderful ✌🏼
Super !
Insane!
EVAN!!
This guy has more of "it" than John Mayer.
Way more.... you're right.
Tristan Laing Just different time me.
Who cares. Competition has no place here in music. Each person has their own thing. Let them exist without the dick comparing BS.
Pienso lo mismo!
Pero ahora es cuando nos preguntamos, ¿Sería Chris Buck el mismo de no haber escuchado a Mayer? (También aplica para SRV, Dereck Trucks, Duane Allman...)
Nunca lo sabremos...
💯

Vibrato, but I think the effect here is more subtle than the movement would lead you to believe.
BuckMagic, headphones or good speakers required. Have you ever played with Mary Spender? The more I hear you play the better you get.
Honestly, the title should just say Prince, as he wrote it and performed it before anyone.

Hey Chris what kind of watch are you wearing? I see it in all your videos.
Beautiful bro! The intro threw me off a bit but the rest is amazing!
Look over there! **steals your Cali 76**
I wish he would take a link out of his watch band. I can't watch. (But I sure can listen.)
Tighten your watch strap!!! Ahhhhh!!!!! 😝😝
🤯
So that’s what his index finger sounds like
'Dynamics' doesn't really capture it man...it's like you whisper as well as you wail...it's sublime man. The intro just rolls into my mind now and then and I need to hear it.
Oh, dude.
That was beautiful!!
Anyone inform me, why he shakes (slowly) the whole guitar so much?
Vibrato.
You can hear why...
Tabs pls.
Your ambient "vibes" are really cool and tasty, but pay attention to not become a one trick pony. My two cents.
vjau75 Seriously?
