I'm getting too old for that sh!t !!!! But I'm still able, to my f'ing surprise. I've recorded two guitars: One hard-left and one hard-right using a RP360 from DigiTech.
None of my grandpas had time to teach me anything because they died before I was born. My parents never taught me anything, so I had to learn how to go through life all by myself. Now, I'm the grandpa of two boys. I teach them what I taught to my children: Do your best, and do it the best you can!!! There is no way around (Unless you are from a rich family, and got elected as prime minister of Canada). As a guitar player, I know I'll never be great, but I'm not ashamed of what I've uploaded: I did my best.

I wish it could make me younger. I'm recalling my teen years (early 80's) when I was trying to learn to play the guitar in my parents garage. I recall the joy I had every time I got to the point I was able to play a song I liked. I played through the 80's, and got quite good at it. In 1991 I met a girl, had children with her, and had to put my guitar aside to work and provide for my family. My children are grownups now, and I'm the proud grandfather of two beautiful boys. I'm getting back to the guitar, but I realize that time had its toll on me. Broken fingers, carpal tunnel syndrome on both hands, bad right ear, and displaced right shoulder are the conditions I have to deal with. I'm having a very hard time getting the fun back into playing the guitar. To be honest, I have no fun, but I'm working hard to change my mindset. I am autistic. That can be a curse or a blessing depending on the situation I'm in. I never cared about music theory. I'm obsessed about learning by myself and playing on time (spot on, as you said). It takes me months working on a cover, so when it gets uploaded I can tell I did my best. Sorry for the long post. I hope you made some sense out of it. Best regards.

You're playing is that good. In fact, I grew up in an age where "glam" was frowned upon and thrash was king. So when my wife walked in on me the other day and I was listening to your Dokken cover, she said, "YOU are listening to Dokken???!!' I told her, it's only because of Mark's playing and sound (^_^). I'm going to subscribe in the hopes of hearing some more hard rock/metal tunes come out of you.

I'm very happy that you validate that the G last note on the intro riff and that Ab that I throw in real fast are legit instead of whatever "as seen on CZcams" crap. Open G to open D sounds very OK to me but I should have played those with power chords on the second guitar I've recorded (I've recorded two guitars: Left/Right). I'm learning as I go. Subscribed and liked your videos.
No one can be arsed to listen these days, they just copy each other's tabs and you-tubes. Maybe try a 'pull off' an minute bend on that g note off or go in a touch harder in on the pick. Really subtle ... You groove to the tunes, if you can't feel t you won't play it. Good!

I rely on what hearing I'm left with and the few fingers I have still usable. I don't care about tabs and the usual CZcams crap (as you do too, I think) I do watch other covers after I've uploaded some of mine just to make sure I'm not making a fool out of myself. @@marcpariat5350 You have a really cool 'economy' of motion playing style. Not at all flash -'almost' boring to watch, but really tight with no unecessary hand movement. Glenn from Judas Priest used to have that style too... I'd do a metal band with you any day -if you were a little closer.

Yours is so spot on (I only listened to this and knock em' dead kid) that sometimes I found myself doubting if you were actually playing (you are because the sounds are different obviously) Would like to see more thrash covers!
@@metal_helm Yes, I was drunk! And I am quit a bit more right now. I don't understand what you mean by 'spot on'. Do you mean synchronization between audio and video? I do Audio-Video synchronization by eye and by ear. As you know the eye is faster than the ear, though it is why my audio always lags a tiny bit. The brain can fool you into thinking that two events are simultaneous, but they are not. You were not talking about guitar playing skills, so I guessed it was about audio-video synch.
@@marcpariat5350 no I am talking about your skills. your guitar's audio matches perfectly with the original audio. perfectly synced. for example, if you look at my "Time to Kill" cover, I'm playing the intro a tad fast here and there and it is painfully embarrassing when you listen to it. You don't have any parts like that at all in the 2 covers I listened to.
@@metal_helm After listening closely, you are right, but keep in mind that almost all people won't ever notice it, so why bother about this video?! I'm pretty sure you play it way better now. I'm also a timing freak myself. I'm working on Seek And Destroy for some weeks now, and hope to upload a decent cover of it this week-end or the next (or some other time). I'll keep you informed.
Honestly, I'm too old to shred . Work related wounds are now taking a toll on me. I barely can play most of the stuff I had no difficulty playing before . I'm working my a$$ off to find ways to circumvent those impairments. In the meantime, I thank you for the encouraging comment,.
@@vetalm I'm a welder fabricator. I work for a big metal recycling company. I mostly do welding repairs on heavy machinery, but I also fabricate a lot of stuff. Right now I'm fabricating a 32 feet long x 4 feet high x 7 feet wide loading ramp (no plans were provided, as usual). Yes, I work a lot with my hands. I'm always careful, but sometimes shit happens resulting with a bad cut, a burn, pinched or broken finger. On my left hand I have the thumb, pinky and ring finger that are still undamaged. On my right hand I only have the ring finger valid, or fully usable.

I'm using a RP360 from DigiTech (Multi-effect+Amp emulating pedal) which is connected to my crappy computer via USB. I record two tracks, do a bit of mixing, and that's pretty much all there is to it. No fancy software wizardry.
Alright I dont know how to say this right but I love that the older gentlemen is rocking out and playing some anthrax.
