    Not going to comment on the politics of this...everyone must decide what they beleive in and make a choice. But women's soccer has been fighting for its life as a viable business over the last few years. Several of the clubs have folded and others are operating near the break even point. If this protest alienates even a small precentage of fans, and it surely will, that could result in taking a bite out of the sport's bottom line resulting in less opportunities for women to play professional soccer. Look at the hit the more established men's sports have taken as a result of similar protests. I love these athletes...they play with such passion, but I wonder if that same passion may have negative collateral impacts they have not fuly considered. I hope I am wrong, but fear I am not.

    • @otumfuo3
      @otumfuo3 Před 3 lety +1

      What "hit" sports more than covid19? Either way, you always gain some and lose some but everyone is entitled to be their own champion and stand or kneel for what they choose to.

      The NWSL in the US had over a 200% increase in viewership over last year and almost all of the ladies were kneeling during the national anthem. JS

    • @thomascrew8268
      @thomascrew8268 Před 3 lety

      @@Spyrnight Some of that NWSL viewership bump was certainly due to not being able to attend the games in person. As noted before...I hope I am wrong...but men's professional football and basketball are now questioning how they could have addressed this without losing money and they did lose money...lots of it even before COVID. I think I share the opinion with most commenting here that women's profesional soccer has a far different fan base than the big men's sports. So maybe this will work to their benefit...I hope so. But it's hard to also lobby for pay equality if your actions are taking a bite out of the bottom line.
