(This is long. I apparently have many feelings about this). Upon first watching S4, I was not happy with the path they had Chloe take. However, once you view the entire season, somehow her journey snaps into place. Yes, she knows Lucifer, but keep in mind, she doesn't know half of what he's done to save/help her (deal with Dad post Malcolm shooting, killing Uriel, dying and going to hell for formula, etc.), and every time she's opened herself to anything more than friendship with him, a figurative piano is dropped on her (i.e. Stewardess, Candy, seeing his face). So she's overwhelmed and does the thing that she knows how to do because she's a detective: she investigates. She goes to Rome where the supposed biblical experts are, reads about all the evil he's done for thousands of years, and meets Father Kinley who knows just what to say to manipulate her (the full extent of it not being shown or bits shown after this scene airs). Kinley's approach isn't necessarily attacking Lucifer, it's that his presence is dangerous. He appeals to her "wants to help people side" that for the better of humanity Lucifer needs to be back in hell (and SPOILER: it is exactly what Lucifer realizes as the season ends...). Then she sees Lucifer again and his supposed past doesn't fit, but Kinley works his mojo, and Lucifer actually paying attention and learning from past bad dates to try something new just fits right into what Kinley said. Chloe, who has been through the wringer already with Lucifer's relationship yo-yoing (and not knowing his reasons behind it), cares for him but fears (thanks to Kinley) she's been manipulated and she's fallen for not only the Devil, but for someone who doesn't even exist. She thinks she's doing what is best for humanity (which includes her daughter), yet her hand is still shaking when she grabs the vial and it's why the song BBD "Poison" causes a huge reaction. Then he cuts himself, and again, the facts aren't adding up (why does he get hurt only sometimes) and she jumps to what Kinley said, it must be a manipulation because nothing else makes sense. Then Lucifer explains (and in season 1, he took a while to accept it was just Chloe that caused his vulnerability, and initially wouldn't even ride in the car with her) and she gets interrupted before she can fully process it, but then (later) she realizes that isn't Lucifer who has been manipulating her, it's Kinley, and he's using her because she makes Lucifer vulnerable. And suddenly, she can't believe what Kinley has told her and maybe, her gut about Lucifer might be okay. (Note: before dissing Chloe for falling for Kinley's lies, Lucifer also fell victim to them to drive them apart because, hey, Kinley was really good at what he did). But then, why doesn't she know if she can deal with it and accept all Lucifer is? Honestly, if you look at all of her actions throughout the season, and how many times she protects him (the bomb, just in the next episode, like a week later) or is afraid FOR him (I mean, right before this she had to watch the cabin explode with him in it and she nearly loses it, and it is pretty damn obvious she cares) I think her main issue isn't that he's the actual Devil so much as adding that to their past history (and his propensity to run whenever they get close emotionally) and how loving the Devil will very likely end in heartbreak for her. He's essentially immortal, has lived longer than humanity, and he rules Hell. She even says how she "a nobody" and "terrified" but when you go back and view her actions (again over all the other episodes) I think it has more to do with how she couldn't possibly be enough to capture and hold the love of a celestial being. Of course, thanks to the writers, by the time Chloe realizes it's pretty much too late to protect herself and her feelings and she just misses him, Eve has joined the equation and she (jealously) tries to be happy for him until she realizes he isn't truly happy. Also, it should be addressed, that Linda only had to deal with his devil face once, and she did temporarily crack, but it was after Linda ceased to be intimate with him and it was Maze who finally brought her around. Being a therapist for the Devil (which Linda later admits gives her the most fascinating, albeit frustrating patitent) is a bit different to handle emotionally than realizing you're in love with the Devil (and that can't end well). Meanwhile, Chloe dealt with his devil face multiple times, as well as him going full devil (which Linda completely missed, though she did see his devil wings), and as much as the latter initially freaked her out (and hey, that is the normal reaction), Chloe still not only stood by him but helped him deal with his issues and was able to get through to him in a way that Linda often can't do. Had she seen his angle wings first? Her reaction would have likely been very different, and I'm so glad at the end she finally saw that side of him. Going forward? Now how they handle season 5??? I admit, I'm scared. Because yes, they could have written Chloe without Father Kinley and had her accept Lucifer sooner and I would have loved that. I don't believe you can't have a happy couple be entertaining on a TV show, you just have to write it well and have the actors kill it. There are plenty other forms of angst to give the actors to work with, so here's hoping since it's the final season, we get a little Deckerstar happiness (and not just the ending). I would love the other characters to learn Lucifer is truly the devil and see them process it. And of course when Chloe tries to tell Trixie, somehow Trixie will be the one who not only isn't surprised, but took him at his word the entire time and actually believed he was who he said he was and is baffled that the adults never listened because "Lucifer doesn't lie."
KelDanceswithChaos The thing people often fail to mention about Chloe is that she isn’t like eve, she didn’t have thousands of years of experience with celestiales only a lifetime of human experience, and her expertise as a detective to go on. So yes she made a mistake but like any good detective would she put the pieces together and is working on making sense of this crazy new world she is in.
I read your essay and pretty much agree, good thoughts in this sir. I hate that we have one more season because I feel like there’s so much we can get from their relationship not that she knows and admits that she loves him.
Anyone else want to just smash Chloe's damn phone?? I mean, I know she has to keep it on for work but GEEZ. The interruptions between them get so old. We need some satisfying Chloe/Lucifer romance, Season 5 STAT.
I would imagine that happens to every detective, prosecutor, doctor, and anybody with such job that he might need to be informed at moment's notice. Heck, I'm an archeologist and sometimes I get called by my boss after workhours to discuss something.

Cunning Smile i just meant descendent more so than daughter or she has a different father who knows how many kids she has, what I mean is she was created from lilith in some way which would make sense
2:17 you gotta give Lauren all credits due for her acting here. She was amazing in Season 4. But must I not forget to mention Tom Ellis' acting here. No words spoken, except a quick "no" for about 40 seconds, but that body language though.
Its pretty simple they talk about angels biology, they self actualize, so when amenadiel felt he didnt deserve his wings he slowly lost them. Lucifer feels vulnerable around chloe so he actually becomes vulnerable around her.
She makes him vulnerable because she's blessed. They revealed that 2 seasons ago. Not because he's self actualizing. He didnt feel vulnerable around her in season 1 and was already physically vulnerable. From the first episode. The drive by shooting just ruined his suit, getting shot while protecting chloe, who he barely knew, actually hurt him. Just wasnt enough to kill him, since his super human strength is still present.
@@zimvader25 no she isnt affected by his desire power because shes blessed. He didnt care about her when he got shot, it was only after they started working together did he start to care about her and thats when she made him vulnerable
@@TheAngryAsianAnimations its not an issue because thats the difference between him having control over his body, it jsut becomes a fact of his bilogy that he is vulnerable around her. even if he doesnt want to. if shes close to him than he is vulnerable, not because he chooses to be. like when amenadiel lsot his wings it was because he felt that he was unworthy of being an angel, not because he wanted them to fall off. he found out later that he was in control of it but it didnt mean he can jsut immediately grow them back, he ahd to feel worthy of them again
Doesn't changed the fact that she still tried. Lucifer always fought for her, and this is how she returned the favor. The worst part is, she knows that he had just saved her life prior to her finding out. She should trust him. Lucifer offered her space, even though she had ran away for a month. She had more than enough time to process, but she refused to do so. She betrayed his trust in the worst way possible by utilizing his love for her. And by doing so she has proven herself unworthy of him. Yes Lucifer has hurt her in the past but it was never intentional and he always tried to make it up to her. But she was fully aware of what she was doing, and she didn't give any real apology, nor did she tried to win his forgiveness or anything. Instead she just made excuses, broke his heart and left. And once Eve enters the picture, she tries giving him lessons about what he should or shouldn't do. Yes, maybe he wasn't being the best version of himself, but it was her fault. She had no right to judge his actions. To tell the truth Chloe has been insufferable since mid-season 3.
Im only vulnerable when im close to you...ure my kryptonite my Achilles's heel...the joker to my batman...the jane to my parker...ure the first ten minutes of the movie 'up'...
@Perfect Perfection about half of green lanterns are vulnerable to wood, the other half are vulnerable to the color yellow. The perfect weapon against a green lantern is therefore a yellow, #2 pencil 🤣
As messed up as Chloe's attempt to poison him was, this was a needed her realization that she meant something to him. Chloe's look of guilt as he says "I'm only vulnerable when I'm close to you", gets me every time. She didn't tell him not to go because she feared him, she told him not to go because she realized he could get hurt. That's why she said "for now".
The thing that bothers Chloe in this scene isn't whether Lucifer can be hurt or not, it's whether he's been deceiving her this whole time. This whole episode she's been questioning whether the things Father Kinley has told her about Lucifer are true but Lucifer keeps dismissing every myth as false. She feels conflicted about going through with the plan since nothing she read about Lucifer has been true. But now seeing that his invulnerability isn't consistent she's both angry and afraid that Lucifer *has* been deceiving her because that would make everything else he told her about him not true and she would have no excuse not to go through with the plan. But of course Lucifer explains that she is the cause of his vulnerability and even with that he's still willing to put his life on the line to protect her, she realises then that her Lucifer is nothing like the monster from the books and can confidently make up her mind about not hurting him.
anyone else thinks the stereo being so loud wasn't a mistake, maybe an act by his dad to prevent him from being poisoned. Cause he himself said that he couldn't believe he left it so loud.
Out of all the moments with Lucifer and Chloe hanging out, this one is by far the most adorable one. Well up until when Chloe nearly poisoned Lucifer's drink and accidentally spilling it. But I digress. So cute
A lot of people like to point out a "Plot hole" from the Pilot episode where Chloe is shot & Lucifer covers her from harm taking bullet after bullet that didn't penetrate his body. This isn't a plot hole, It wasn't until episode 4 Season 1 where Chloe shoots Lucifer at his own request & he then bleeds, I have the theory Chloe was developing feelings for him by this point as she had been an outcast in her department for so long & Lucifer actually showed genuine interest in her saved her life twice by the 4th episode. Hell! I'd develop feelings for the guy if he did that for me
0:30 jesus the tone in her voice when she says this conveys perfectly her suspicion, fear and anger at seeing (in her eyes) him trying to manipulate her/evnts/humans to "tempt" them or cover over some evil. Shes a fantastic actor
The emotion in both of their eyes just shows are great of acting is in this show. The next scene shows just how much he cares about her as well by jumping in front of that axe
This scene hurt so much. He just wanted her love. Trust and company. He wanted this night to be perfect. And yea I can understand she found out he is the devil. Well finally believed him. But she was still going to kill him. Despite everything. all the good he did. All the times he helped her and been there for her. Its like she just forgot about all the kindness and love he showed her and her daughter just because of what he is. You could see in his eyes how hurt he was about her reacting this way towards him.
she was hurt and in denial because she actually loved him and thought he was deceiving her she felt betrayed when it was actually her doing the betrayal, I think in her mind she was punishing herself for falling into the devils “trap”
@@crystall.411 As Mazikeen put it. Chloe is weak. Linda handled it well. She froze when seeing Lucifer's face and then asked Mazikeen to leave and locked her door. She still listened to Mazikeen fromthe other side of the door, and after a little conversation accepted what she already knew. That both Lucifer and Mazikeen are good people and her friends. Daniel did took it well too considering. He was a broken man for a very long time. And when he find out he didn't even cared about Lucifer or Mazikeen. He was just afraid of going to Hell because of all the things he had done but was also relieved to know that Charlotte was in Heaven, as Amenadiel had told him. Daniel ended up shooting Lucifer because of Michael who manipulated an extremely fragile and broken man who was pleading for help and for a sign. And even after shooting Lucifer, the guy picked himself back together pretty quickly. Chloe however was more than stable when she did what she did. After all she ran away and had had a month to process. She is a detective yet let someone like Kinley to influence her. Lucifer offered her to give her space when she returned. Therefore she has no excuse for her actions.
this soundtrack moment is pure genius. If you pay attention the ascending musical scale brings the tension to the max til the A and you wait to the final high D to resolve it... only to be played by the ringtone: perfect "dammit" moment

mojneme I think its supposed to show lucifers growth and now he’s closer to being with only one person and hes getting better little by little at being in a relationship hes worked through his problems he def still needs therapy but he can move on to the next step now
@@crystall.411 I see you point. I just feel, that it is time to wrap up their story, because there is no sense to drag it anymore. If they do not put them together in season 5 (if netflix ever decided to make it), it will just loose any sense and will become quite boring.
Chloe was so obnoxious this episode. Like she spends like 2 years with a man who would do anything to protect her, but just a 5 minutes discussion with Father something something and she's ready to poison him.
She doesn't know what we know and imagine finding out that you're friend in the ACTUAL DEVIL and hearing stories in every religion that he is PURE EVIL lol I don't blame her for being scared
She cares about who Lucifer USED to be. Which is why she tried like Hell, to revert him back. I wanted to smack the shit out of her the entire season. Though, at the end she did redeem herself. I'd like to see her become something for herself. Otherwise Axe her presence.
Taking a look at this after Dan's try to kill Lucifer, in which he didn't barely hesiate to shoot him, and took him less than a day to decide, and here Chloe had her hand trembling after weeks of struggle. Appreciate the difference.
Daniel's mind was completely screwed up at that point. The guy was broken for a long time. He was approached by an Angel, who does look injured, and claim that those injuries were caused by Lucifer. Michael also appeared to Daniel when he completely broke in front of Charlotte's grave and asked for a sign and fir help. Daniel also doesn't have the best relationship with Lucifer (remember beginning of S3 and all of S4 ? Daniel was a really douchebag then. Especially 4x06-07.) And yet when Daniel find out, he didn't care about Lucifer being the Devil. He cared about finding that Hell was real but also that Charlotte was in Heaven. Daniel is Amenadiel's friend and he knows that Amenadiel and Lucifer are close. Otherwise Amenadiel wouldn't let him near his son. Daniel only turned against Lucifer because of Michael. Same thing goes for Mazikeen, Daniel didn't care one bit about her being a Demon. He only pointed out that she was a Demon in 5b after having met God. And even after the whole shooting Lucifer and all, he went back to being friend with him pretty quickly. Unlike Chloe who was supposed to be closer to Lucifer and yet just refused to try and fix things in any way. She just expected Lucifer to accept things and to come back to work with her.
It was so bitter sweet watching this scene, because it feels like we’ve been waiting FOREVER for a date and when we finally get one it’s so off because we know Chloe’s intentions which takes away from the moment but also pushed the plot further, I’m not saying I’d change this scene or anything but it was just sad that their first real date was ruined because at the time Chloe was still coming to terms with Lucifer and trying to send him to hell, not to mention Lucifer was SO exited and put SO much effort into making this date perfect for her, and all she could focus on was him being being the devil
I feel so bad for her because she’s In so much pain. But I feel bad just as much for him because he’s truly caring for her more each day. He puts his heart into trying to be good because of her that’s why he’s weak with her around
It physically hurst LIKE every inch of my body aches seeing her pouring that things inside Luci's glass (and everything she says) I'm gonna cry Bad Chloe :'( I mean poor her but I do think YKNOW she could've at least tried to handle it better instead of immediately running away and deciding to get Lucifer poisoned back to hell
I want Lucifer to visit Kinley in Hell and for the priest to say, "yeah, there was only water in that vial. The main thing was to break you two apart" and for Lucifer to eviscerate him. Such a manipulative jerk
No it wasn't only water. That was a fluid that could send a celestial person to Hell. It was mentioned in previous episode and later, in episode 10 demons stole that vial and tried to give it to Charlie wanting to made him their king
Well she never tried to kill him just to send him to Hell ))) And she was manipulated by that damn father Kinley. She thought it was right because priest said that he is really dangerous for humanity ))) Thank god for the music ))) Later she realized that priest was not right and refused him ))) But he wanted to keep them apart because of prophecy, so he went for manipulating Luci. Later she realized about that Kinley's manipulative killer bitch and arrested him
@Kaleela Edwards Lucifer risked going back to hell and getting stuck there forever to get that antidote to save her life; he killed his own brother to save her; he was dying from a gunshot wound and asked a favor of God not for himself but to save her. Chloe has no idea the extent to which Lucifer has gone to protect her. She doesn't know about any of it. If she did know, I wonder if her reaction to Father Kinley would have been different.
Well imagine finding out that your friend, partner and love interest who you have known for several years is the actual Devil. How did you react, especially when you always denied that fact not believing in that? Chloe freaked out, later tried to find the answers she needed. And here comes father Kinley who offered her a simple solution - to send him to Hell where he belongs because of his dangerous self. And Chloe listened to him because thought that the priest never could be a manipulative insane killer as she figured out later
She tried to kill him and he still looks at her like she’s his world. I’m gonna cry y’all

God, those words...
KelDanceswithChaos
The thing people often fail to mention about Chloe is that she isn’t like eve, she didn’t have thousands of years of experience with celestiales only a lifetime of human experience, and her expertise as a detective to go on.
Bravo, I think I agree with everything you wrote. This is the best analysis to this I've seen.
I totally agree with you on this!
i love this
Anyone else want to just smash Chloe's damn phone?? I mean, I know she has to keep it on for work but GEEZ. The interruptions between them get so old. We need some satisfying Chloe/Lucifer romance, Season 5 STAT.
I would imagine that happens to every detective, prosecutor, doctor, and anybody with such job that he might need to be informed at moment's notice. Heck, I'm an archeologist and sometimes I get called by my boss after workhours to discuss something.
@@catxborsuq1 you guys dont have a life.....search a agent who could help yll rent it.....
Literally. This show is chalk full of bad timing, lol.
FUCKING AGREED I'VE BEEN WAITING SINCE SEASON 1 TO SEE THEIR ROMANCE SCENE
How.. he gone back to hell
Lol, The song fits perfectly with the scene. That girl is poison.
tori waters lmao omg...
Edna Krabopple laugh.
Omg yes lol
Pretty sure that bit is deliberate.
"I'm only vulnerable when I'm close to you"
Damn this entire shit is like me tryin to explain myself to someone I love. But still they won't understand!!
Oof
Lame. Do NOT tell him/her that
Then LEAVE THEM.
How fitting that Poison is the song playing while she is indeed trying to poison him
She literally is the poison.
Wait till she hears "dear old dad sent Amenadiel down here about your age and a year ago to bless your barren mother. As a result, you and the little urchin came around."
Cunning Smile I wonder how that would go... wait i just thought of something what if shes liliths daughter?
Maze: Let's test that theory. (Demon language). Hmm?
Cunning Smile i just meant descendent more so than daughter or she has a different father who knows how many kids she has, what I mean is she was created from lilith in some way which would make sense
Nope.
That happens in season 5
2:17 you gotta give Lauren all credits due for her acting here. She was amazing in Season 4. But must I not forget to mention Tom Ellis' acting here. No words spoken, except a quick "no" for about 40 seconds, but that body language though.
Its pretty simple they talk about angels biology, they self actualize, so when amenadiel felt he didnt deserve his wings he slowly lost them. Lucifer feels vulnerable around chloe so he actually becomes vulnerable around her.
Luci and Chloe is a different case, tho, it happens because Chloe is a blessed human
I think the one issue with this is that there are instances where he is unaware that Chloe is close by and becomes vulnerable.
That's what you call perfect chemistry WOW .LUCIFER n Chloe great job.
You could tell Chloe didn’t want to poison him
Derpy Pigeon ofcourse she did, i think after this scene the tables turned and Lucifer is the one that deserved better lmao
yeah, her hand started shaking
Because that's True Love
Im only vulnerable when im close to you...ure my kryptonite my Achilles's heel...the joker to my batman...the jane to my parker...ure the first ten minutes of the movie 'up'...
The Joker to my Batman 🙂I love that lol😄
@Perfect Perfection green lanterns weakness is a number 2 pencil
@Perfect Perfection about half of green lanterns are vulnerable to wood, the other half are vulnerable to the color yellow. The perfect weapon against a green lantern is therefore a yellow, #2 pencil 🤣
can we just appreciate how depressive but, on the other hand - beautiful this season was
As messed up as Chloe's attempt to poison him was, this was a needed her realization that she meant something to him.
How can they make Lucifer so cute?
By casting Tom Ellis that’s how
She got hella scared when she broke that glass lol she thought he was finna get mad lol and show his 👿 face😅😂😂
I just love this scene. Lauren German's acting is so great in this!!
Went down like a pork chop at a kosher wedding lol
anyone else thinks the stereo being so loud wasn't a mistake, maybe an act by his dad to prevent him from being poisoned. Cause he himself said that he couldn't believe he left it so loud.
I think that too
hands down, I really like how they kept her reaction real
Out of all the moments with Lucifer and Chloe hanging out, this one is by far the most adorable one. Well up until when Chloe nearly poisoned Lucifer's drink and accidentally spilling it. But I digress. So cute
@Aratrika Saha I said the scene was cute until Chloe tried to poison Lucifer, genius. Learn how to read
Hell! I'd develop feelings for the guy if he did that for me
I hope season 5 is already under way.
I can't wait.

The phone really needs to go .... I mean it’s getting old now
0:30 jesus the tone in her voice when she says this conveys perfectly her suspicion, fear and anger at seeing (in her eyes) him trying to manipulate her/evnts/humans to "tempt" them or cover over some evil. Shes a fantastic actor
it was God that convulsed Chloe's shaking hand to save his son, their relationship and Chloe from severe regret and losing Lucifer and Maze.
They shouldn't take their phones with them on dates. They always get interrupted...
My second best scene from Chloe and they are so good together with their looks at each other you can't help to feel those vibes
Still so smooth, even when you can tell deep down he’s more terrified than he’s ever been in his innumerable eons of existence.
Did we really had to wait 3 entire seasons to see this?????
Yes

Poor guy, seemed so heartbroken when she snapped at him. Her back stabbing is unforgivable after everything they passed through and he did for her. It's amazing how writers found another creative way to keep them appart for sentire freaking season.
mojneme I think its supposed to show lucifers growth and now he’s closer to being with only one person and hes getting better little by little at being in a relationship hes worked through his problems he def still needs therapy but he can move on to the next step now
Atleast the show writers were creative... Unlike "some" Who build a show and rush the ending,,,,,
@@suvashree100 Let me guess...GOT? hehe
@@crystall.411 I see you point. I just feel, that it is time to wrap up their story, because there is no sense to drag it anymore. If they do not put them together in season 5 (if netflix ever decided to make it), it will just loose any sense and will become quite boring.
Okay but Lucifer looks so much hotter with that beard 🥵😍 Annddd he just got more physically in shape, oooooofff😍

Man, the axe scene in this episode..!! That was just such a pure scene!
what a beautiful and a sad scene! I'm crying with Chloe
Cloe is freaking out😂😂😂
Chloe was so obnoxious this episode.
Chloe: *starts berating Lucifer
Licifer: :0
Chloe berates Lucifer.
Chloe a few moments prior : tries to sedate him in order to try to banish to Hell for Eternity.
She is the worst.
This is my episode. Everything about it was perfect!
almost done watching season 4 and i must say Eve is a joy to watch. I need her in any upcoming seasons
Why?
Sanja Marjanov Because you can see she genuinely cares about Lucifer and lights up any room she is in
She cares about who Lucifer USED to be. Which is why she tried like Hell, to revert him back. I wanted to smack the shit out of her the entire season. Though, at the end she did redeem herself. I'd like to see her become something for herself. Otherwise Axe her presence.

You can tell even Lucifer is pissed off by Chloe’s Deckerstar ruining phone
I wish I had some great guy acting all nervous like Lucifer was here.
Taking a look at this after Dan's try to kill Lucifer, in which he didn't barely hesiate to shoot him, and took him less than a day to decide, and here Chloe had her hand trembling after weeks of struggle. Appreciate the difference.
it's what love does
Daniel's mind was completely screwed up at that point.
Especially 4x06-07.)
And yet when Daniel find out, he didn't care about Lucifer being the Devil.
The song is perfect for this scene
Song name?🙂🙂
How is it that the music always fits like a glove?

Betrayal aside, this was so cute!
I feel so bad for her because she’s In so much pain. But I feel bad just as much for him because he’s truly caring for her more each day. He puts his heart into trying to be good because of her that’s why he’s weak with her around
It physically hurst LIKE every inch of my body aches seeing her pouring that things inside Luci's glass (and everything she says) I'm gonna cry
Bad Chloe :'(
I mean poor her but I do think YKNOW she could've at least tried to handle it better instead of immediately running away and deciding to get Lucifer poisoned back to hell
I want Lucifer to visit Kinley in Hell and for the priest to say, "yeah, there was only water in that vial. The main thing was to break you two apart" and for Lucifer to eviscerate him. Such a manipulative jerk
The fact that he was so delusional that it didn't even occur to him that he would go to hell.
No it wasn't only water. That was a fluid that could send a celestial person to Hell. It was mentioned in previous episode and later, in episode 10 demons stole that vial and tried to give it to Charlie wanting to made him their king
Using his feelings against him like this was COLD. Stone cold.
