  • This is one of the rides we did on a recent multi-day trip to the Smoky Mountains. We left from Townsend TN (where we happened to be staying that night) and it was a two hour ride to get to The Rattler. Even once you're on 209, it's still some riding to get to the beginning of the actual Rattler ride.
A couple bonus items before we get to The Rattler. First, we came upon this Sheriff in Georgia on what looked like a brand new really badass motorcycle. I also included what Tail of the Dragon Harley Davidson looks like as you ride up on it from Tail of the Dragon. And lastly, I included some of the Blue Ridge Parkway riding from later in the day. It rained for weeks before we came up on this trip, so everything was extremely lush and breathtaking.
As with most of my videos that are posted to show you these rides, the camera remained rolling for the entire Rattler. Occasionally I piped in with my Sena helmet camera and show the GoPro video side-by-side with the Sena (with the route placement all synced up).
    Enjoy!

Beautiful! Riding from Colorado May 3rd to ride Cherohala Skyway & the Dragon, thinking I need to squeeze some more time to do the Rattler, thank you :-)

Yep. Did 209 once. The chickens and other wildlife were there to greet us. We ran into everything from the chickens to groundhogs and deer.
The chickens did not cross the road, they stood out there to block us. 😁

You should’ve stopped at Dave’s 209, awesome burgers. We used to live in that community and the boys went to school at the old Spring Creek school where Dave’s 209 is now located. That ride is also known by several other names, it’s called a gambler because you pass through the communities of Trust and Luck, it’s also known as the Appalachian medley.

Turn left on 25 and head down to Bobarosa Saloon is mainly a biker stop over. It has a small motel on the property and sits on the banks of the French Broad River in Del Rio, Tn.

You guys need to ride the Snake in Shady Valley TN. It’s not as long but more challenging. The Harley shop there or store has pretty reasonable priced stuff all things considered.

Looked a bit fast brother. As speed increases, our margin of allowable error decreases. Double yellow pass? Crusin for a brusin.

Excellent point! But I guess, in this instance, looks can be deceiving. We were riding and relaxing, and not out to set any land speed records. Just the same, I appreciate you looking out for me/us, and I will not forget your kind words of wisdom.

    Rattler info:
    Don't stop in hot springs.
    (At all.for any reason lol)
-the cops WILL shake you down. Go the other way if you see one.
Stop at, "DAVES 209". Not much here for food or drink. So it's a welcome sight for food, and it's VERY good. Plus it's nice to support them. Not many people here

      Daves is 23:50.
Seriously, BEST burger 🍔 in the whole wide world. 😆
Hot springs would be the next town after Dave's going this direction....hot springs local law thinks their town is a for the wealthy and if you aren't in (or on) a 200k plus car. .. they will view this as an opportunity to generate some revenue and help keep you from interacting with the elite 😉

Down to my left is a GoPro 7 Black filming in 1080p. FYI - It is attached via a RAM mount that attaches to my left hand grip & clutch cluster. On my helmet is a Sena 10C intercom/camera.
