Watching your CZcams is like walking over to visit a good neighbor.
Hi Nathan, seems like you're providing a few more shots showing the process, like making sure the bed is clear of sawdust and bark -- appreciate that. My vote would be for the walnut, for curiosity's sake if nothing else. :-)
Walnut would be my vote: I love seeing how the weird logs turn out. But that's not necessarily economical for you. If you need the lumber inventory, do the white oak, but I wouldn't leave that walnut for much longer than you have to.
I agree, it's interesting to see what Nathan does with the more challenging logs.
That was me! Hope you enjoy the coffee. I can’t get through the day without sipping on a few cups. I enjoy the videos, so you enjoy the coffee. Signed, Amateur sawyer Tim in NC! 😁
Thanks again!
@@OutoftheWoods0623 You are very welcome. Your videos are the first ones I watch when they drop. Really enjoy them, and I’ve learned a lot. Figure I was just paying a little tuition. Taker easy!
I never get tired of watching a Walnut log being opened up. Walnut doesn't rot very quick, I've sawed one that probably laid for twenty years.
Nice to see father and son together.
I do too.
Peepers! There were lots of them where I grew up (IL) so it was the spring soundtrack of my childhood. I haven't heard them in a long time.
Hello. Another vote for the black walnut. Thanks for the show.
White oak. Anticipating the walnut in the future. I can imagine the sweet smell of the freshly cut pine in this video.
Good job Bruno !! Thanks for sharing with us Nathan, enjoyed the milling today and Mister Smiling Face at the end too. Stay safe. Fred.
The black walnut. I love the grain and color.
Love your channel. Between the actual sawing and your laid back demeanor, I am so relaxed after watching. Can’t get enough Bruno!
Walnut, pretty good operating, flipping those boards up toward the end for your 1x6’s. 👍🏻
I love the colors in the walnut.
The black walnut should be really interesting!
White oak.
Love the quarter sawing.
Black walnut with live edge is my favorite!
I have always enjoyed watching your videos! I’m kinda curious about the walnut log… but I vote for the white oak. Glad the weather is clearing up for y’all.
That sure is some pretty wood!---Take care of that lonely oak next! It deserves some attention!---A favor please...next time the weather is right, I'd love to hear some snap-crackle-pop of that burn pile!---Hiya Bruno! Your smile is as delightful as the rare ones I see from your Dad!
Enjoy your time with your son, time fly's oh so fast. I always love hearing the peepers, they're a sure sign of spring.
The frogs sound like spring to me . That is about two and a half or three months away for me in northern Minnesota
I enjoy the Frogs, and especially Bruno hanging around! Thanks for sharing your Family with us! Keep up the Good work!
Thank you! Will do!
Either one will be entertaining , I'm sure. The look on your lads face when your driving is priceless. A great smile on that young fella.
Oh I just love the sound of the frogs. It tells me summer is close. Love your videos
So close!
I like quarter sawn too, but that black walnut is so intriguing!! Do the walnut! Do the walnut!!!!
Love seeing Bruno in the videos, he reminds me of my daughter…❤️. Good to spend time with your family!
Grew up in Maine, visiting cousins who had a really old saw mill. Belt driven. Love this channel as it brings back good memories! White oak is my choice.
Hey Nathan, thanks for another great video. My vote is for option 1 the white oak. Can't wait to see more of the timber frame work too. Looks like the warm weather is coming our way for Sunday and Monday but its bringing rain with it for Monday. But I'll take it either with or without the rain. 69 both days as the high. Spring is in the air.
cant wait till Sunday...enjoy that tractor ride
That Black Walnut looks like an awesome log to saw.
Me too Brother ... I want to see white oak ... genuinely "quarter sawn" = this ain't no easy task - but yields the the finest grain pattern of any wood on the planet and the most "stable" > stable as in us furniture makes find it an absolute joy to work with. I'm not going to say it's easy but when you're done makin' what your makin' you know god is on your side.
Black walnut! Thanks for sharing. Information is great and all the tips will help when i start sawing.👍🏼
I can go either way... I just love your videos. Both logs have their benefits. And I know that you'll do a video of each of them anyway. I look forward to seeing what you choose. Goodnight Bruno, sleep well!
Hey fellow sawer, I enjoy watching & learning. I have a Timber King 2000 since 2017. We purchased a cedar grove, it was about a year of hard labor, ha, but we harvested hundreds of logs & stumps too. Keep up the good work. If you ever are in north central Florida, come on over. We're north of where the big roads cross.
I LOVE TO HEAR THE FROGS, there singing here across the mountain in Kentucky too! Warm weather flowers 💐 blooming, spring has almost sprung? My favorite time of the year……😍
Two TYMs can't get over it! That great idea of the hole in the top of the lube bucket.
I like that sound of the frogs. Relaxing. It's a sign of a healthy environment, my friend.
I'll get my fix either way, love the channel Nathan ,Great content, camera work is excellent, you always bring out some interesting information ,and sometimes little known facts (at least for me anyway) about trees, lumber, and other things, and you never let the TROLLS pull you in or get you off your game ,love it when you laugh and politely tell them to just step off , yep way to go Nathan 🌲🌲🍁🍁🌿🌿
Really enjoyed the detail on the sawing this time. I'd love to see a video of the full process of sawing a whole log including measuring, adjusting etc. (maybe timelapsed for the actual sawing parts). We've seen different parts of the process in different videos, but I don't think we've ever seen all of it in one.
My vote's for the white oak.
I'm a biginner Sawyer. So really like the information you provide in your videos. My vote is for the white oak as I have a couple myself.
White Oak - Quarter saw for sure. Thanks for sharing.
The bigger the surprise the greater the satisfaction of bringing out the beautiful boards from an old log.
Nathan enjoy the video's so much, the overhead shots of your farm are breath taking. Also love seeing the slabs grain when splashed with water. Would like to see more cherry wood one of my favourite's. I vote walnut. Bruno looked to be having great fun lol.
I have fallen in love with Black Walnut, but I will vote for quarter sawn White Oak. Have always loved quarter sawn oak. Love your videos. Always good to see Bruno!
Definitely Black walnut. Great to see Bruno, He enjoyed riding in the tractor.
Luv the look on Bruno’s face while you’re driving !
I vote for the crotch slabs !
Would like to see what’s inside that log.
Great content - thanks !
I pick whichever log results in you throwing a bucket of water on it! Thanks for your channel. Appreciate you.
Hello from Northern New York. My vote would be for the white oak. Love all of your videos.
Would love to see how that black walnut turns out. Also love the interaction between you and your son.
I really enjoy your show. From South Africa. Never knew so many different woods. Here mostly SA Pine. Thanks.
Must say I was taught something today on the juvenile pith. Much thanks for the education. God Bless all. I vote number 2 as well. Let’s see what the ugly duckling can produce. Will it be the beautiful swan or not.
Greetings from Canada! Wish the winter weather was as nice here as you’re having. Can’t wait until spring to get back to the shop. Love your videos, especially the music. I vote for the walnut.
Another high quality entertaining video. I’m learning a lot and I’m 61. Great use of fast forward too.
Right on
Hi Nathan. There hasnt been any black walnut slabs for a while, it would be nice to see some again. Plus, im intrigued to see haw bad that log really is.
This channel keeps getting better, love it!
Thanks for sharing your insight and experience. I vote for the White Oak.
Back when we lived in Michigan, we'd volunteer with the local conservation people and do frog census every spring. They had this cool CD that had both individual frogs and groups of frogs croaking for like 25 species. We'd listen to the CD a bunch of times every winter, then be able to identify who was in what pond come spring.
Black Walnut, definitely! It looks mean, tough and gnarly! Challenge for you, delightful entertainment for me! But no matter which one you do, I'll be watching. Good Luck!
Thank you and I am a black walnut fan for sure, may not be the best but the lumber inside is always epic. Thank you, Take care and God bless.
Great video Nathan. You know. I like both woods, but I think I’ll go with the white oak. 👍👍👍❤️
I'm proud of you. Your son looks really happy to be your son. That speaks volumes about you as a father.
Walnut is always nice to see but I vote for the white oak. Watching you explain how you process the logs for optimal boards is very beneficial for us rookies.
Your log flipping skills have improved over the years.....
Go for the White Oak Nathan!
Much like others, since I am not a sawmill guy, I really appreciate how you go through the process. btw the b roll time lapse of the clouds moving across the sky was pretty sweet and a great add... and I cast my vote for 2, I prefer gnarly myself. =)
Nathan, thanks for sharing time with Bruno on this video. Can't pass up spending time with your children because it can't be made up later. For my vote, I would like to see you make quick work of the black walnut and hopefully find some really good looking slabs after a couple of passes to remove the bad wood on top and bottom.
I vote for the Black Walnut for Sunday!
Black walnut over the white oak. Thanks for the videos.
Walnut is my vote. I ordered some blades from Joe and they are exactly the solution that I needed for the white oak, beech, cherry, and walnut that I'm sawing.
My vote is to go for the White Oak log. In a future video if you have the time and inclination, can you demonstrate and talk about Rift Sawing and its primary purpose? Great content! Keep it coming! 👍
Either log is good with me...when you do get around to the black walnut, please hit it with water...love to see that grain pop....excellent channel Nathan...keep it coming!!!
Saw both on Sunday !
I vote that you take Sunday off & go do something fun with your family.
Thanks for showing us the cut plan - that is the first time I have seen a sawyer explain it on You Tube. If you did it briefly on every video it would be great.
Really nice educational videos. As for as the wood scraps you could make them into mulch.
i have a woodland mills WH46 wood chipper. It turns trees into mulch i put around my trees at farm.
Tough choice buddy, but I bet if ya get down deep that walnut may have potential. Great to see Bruno out there with ya...need more of his wonderful soul taking after Father's legacy. God Bless Nathan to you and your Family.
White oak, white oak!!!! So excited to see you quarter saw
Man.. I wanna go on Bruno's Tractor rides !!
I vote the Walnut - just love the gold inside those crotch log slabs
Great video, Nathan. Go for that gnarly walnut. Cheers.
You make turning the log look easy on the mill
ty
Always love black walnut
Nathan,
Thanks for another great video, looking forward to the next one. That Black Walnut has got a lot of great character, I would love to see a few slabs off it….
your friends in south-west Ohio God bless
White Oak!!!!!! I LOVE WHITE OAK!!!!!! And I think that everyone needs to see the quarter sawing process too!!!!
OMG! What a wonderful machine and options. Also, thank you for the information about cutting around the core and drying. If I was 30 years younger I'd love to get me one of these and set up Shop.
Glad it was helpful!
Definitely quarter sawn white oak! Love watching your videos!
Definitely black walnut! Quarter sawn white oak looks great but nothing beats the dark rich color of black walnut especially when you raise the grain.
I have to go with the walnut log for my vote. Sorry Nathan, but I love seeing what's inside a walnut tree. Either way, I'm sure you'll make an interesting video.
Thank you for being a good father Nathan, My baby boy is over 40 , and I still wish we could spend more time together. Enjoy them while you can.
I vote for the walnut. It may just hold a welcome surprise.
Them automated woodmizer machines sure are incredible. Mines just a manual mill but I love it 😁 some good work and good advice buddy. Like the vids 👍
I LOVE YOUR VERDO'S, WATCH THEM ALL OF THE TIME ! CAN;T GET ENOUGH OF THEN.
jOHN gRIFFIN ST LAZARE QUEBEC, CANADA
I LOVE the starting comments! We have those frogs as well!
Tough choice. I like watching the quarter saw method but the beauty of those crotch walnut is always a treat. I choose quarter saw but I would like you to teach us about the use of the wood from the cut you make and why it is advantageous to use those cuts.
Black walnut for sure on Sunday!
My vote is White Oak! Thanks for your videos.
Well, of course I would like to see the inside of that walnut.
It was actually given to me "standing dead"....it was on the ground only for a short while. Hopefully once you get past the "punky stuff" you will find something good.
A friend recommended needle oil to me last summer and I started using it then ....LT40 wide mill. Works great.
I still add a small amount of dish detergent as it helps keep the solution mixed.
Freezing is not an issue with me. Not picking much cotton around here these days, so we have a use for the needle oil.
Great videos....love the channel.
About to start on some big white oak too.
Hey Nathan !! Like your content my vote’s for the black walnut
Black walnut! We all have issues but are wonderful on the inside.
Love the sawmill videos, but Bruno smiling takes the cake! And the white oak for sure.
Love to see irregular logs cut so my pick will be the walnut. Say hi to your son from snowy Ontario Canada
