  • Around 11:40 in the morning of 3/1, Chelsea Fire Alarm struck box 17 for multiple reports of a porch fire on Maverick St. Immediately after the box was struck a detail member on Marginal St reported heavy smoke visible. While still responding Car 2 ordered a working fire. On arrival he reported the rear porches of a three-decker going, with fire jumping to the exposures, and ordered the 2nd Alarm. Immediately following he received verbal reports of people trapped in the building and ordered the 3rd and 4th alarms. Fire began in the rear of 50 Maverick and extended to the D exposure, 52 Maverick st, and walls of the B exposure, 46 Maverick. Fire began to jump to the D-1 exposure at 54 Maverick, but companies were able to stop it before it extended. As companies were working, Tower 1 became trapped on the second floor and declared a mayday. The members were rescued via ground ladder, uninjured. Following the mayday, the OIC ordered all companies out of the building and into an exterior operation. Shortly after my arrival he ordered a 5th Alarm.

Those houses have to be a royal pain in the ass to fight fire in.
