A Greyhound rescued me in 2008. Her name was Versa. Nyla is the spitting image of Versa. They are the most docile animals. Considering most are ex racers and are discarded when they are no longer winning. Thank God for Greyhound Rescuers. The racing industry should be banned.
My boy saved my life literally when my partner passed away in 2020… he gained his wings 2 years ago aged 13.5
I miss him so much… I hope Versa and Cecil are friends at Rainbow Bridge.
God bless you my friend, not everybody understands the truly unconditional love like this ❤
Anthony
They are up there running free! ♥️♥️
Que bonita por favor
Awww, a greyhound rescued me nearly 12 years ago. Her name was Elsa. She knew me inside out. Sooooo smart. Since then we've had another three greys but Rls was my soul mate. I miss her every day 😢
She’s gorgeous. I had a greyhound, Lucy. She passed in 2009. She was the dog by which I measure all dogs. ❤️
Kevin, adopt another greyhound again.
@@mohsenraghian210 It is not that easy to get over it "mr. genius".
May your dog rest in peace. ❤️
I can say the same for my Scottish Deerhound who passed away many years ago & I still miss her terribly. She had a similar body type & personality as a greyhound....not as heavy-boned as many other deerhounds. She was a beautiful lady & for many years, I measured all other dogs against her perfection but realized that wasn’t fair. She was a true original but every dog 🐶 is special in their own way!😊
@@lgempet2869 wow its really heart melting
Seeing her look off into the distance with her scarf on and stand wistfully in the road, oh my god Nyla is absolutely stunning and this video was so aesthetically pleasing.
I was considering adopting a retired greyhound but now I have to.... such a sweet video and lucky puppy to have such a compassionate pet parent!
You will fall in love with magical greyhounds!!! I hope you choose one or two. ❤❤❤
I'm also being pushed in the direction of adopting a greyhound or lurcher - but it would be a very, very big scary step for me as I've never owned my own dog
They’re truly adorable and gentle ❤
I love listening to people talk about their pet. They're always so passionate and gushy about how beautiful and amazing their pet is and I love that because it's just like me with my cat. Your dog sounds amazing!
1:28 dog looks like a professional model.
222th like XD
And YES
Greyhounds are extremely intelligent and very photogenic.
Adorable
IKR
Sir Lance Goodthrust hahaha
I would've never thought I'd be a Greyhound person, but I recently saw someone adopting one and I just instantly fell in love with how beautiful and sweet they are! I can't wait to get one of my own someday 😊
Yeah I mean same. They are amazing dogs, I would get one but I'm not sure if they would get a long with my cat haha.
I long for a Greyhound to have as a companion...someday. 💘
after wanting one for years my parents adopted one from dogs trust uk and my god its the cuddliest couch potato ever, will spend about 10 mins running then the next 6 sleeping. such cuties
Greyhounds are just precious, sweet souls. I can see it in their eyes.
She is absolutely and purely gorgeous. She looks like a sweetheart. And just looking at her she looks so peaceful and chill. Haha! ❤️🐾
Yes adoption story please! She is amazing I would love to have my own one day
I have wanted to adopt a retired racing greyhound for years now and this video seriously pulled at my heartstrings. She is absolutely stunning and even with just a four and a half minute video, it's very clear that you two have such a beautiful bond. I'm envious.
Adopt one, no regrets
Go do it!! Don't die first!
With Florida banning Greyhound racing there are tons of retired racers looking for forever homes. My girlfriend and I adopted one back in May when we were both working from home since we figured that would be the best time to get a dog acclimated to a new living arrangement. Our retired racer is sooooo sweet and loving and it was one of the best decisions we've made. The adoption agency we went through matched us with a dog that fit our needs and lifestyles and she's perfect. If you still haven't pulled the trigger on adopting one go through a local Greyhound adoption group and talk with them and they'll find you a dog that will match up with you and you won't regret it. Amazing dogs.
A lot of greyhounds look like small deer.
I used to walk greyhounds who were quarantined at a greyhound rescue. They are the sweetest dogs ever.
Yessss I'm so glad you made this video!! I loved it so much, Nyla is beautiful! (And yes to the video about her adoption story!)
Awww, thanks Jordan
Greyhounds are to me, without a doubt, the finest breed of dog humans have ever accomplished. I have two loving snuggle bugs, Koda and Zebra. Koda behaves exactly like Nyla, calm and reserved, whereas Zebra is far more outgoing, energetic, and curious. My heart utterly melts when they stand alongside each other and each hound rests their head over the shoulder of the other.
This Sweet Fur Baby is exquisitely Beautiful. May you both enjoy long, happy and healthy lives!
Your video brought a tear to my eye.
It brought back memories of my rescue dog "Zero".also a greyhound.
I hadnt thought of Zero in 40years,
She is one of the most BEAUTIFUL greyhounds I have EVER seen 😍
Aren’t they just the most consistently beautiful dogs? 👑🐶👑
I had never met a greyhound in person until today when I saw someone with two greyhounds, while out cycling. Stopped to say hello and very quickly wished I could get one. They were so sweet and gentle. One of them had that same coloring as your Nyla and was such a lovely dog. Made my day!
What a lovely girl! I have been rescuing retired racers for many years and presently have four special needs greyhounds (two came off the track with severe injuries, one is very reserved, and one is exceptionally afraid from past trauma). I have had many dog breeds in my almost seventy years and I have loved them all, yet there is something about greyhounds that sets them apart in a uniquely enchanting way. They are, indeed, old souls with an especially quixotic view (of course they are sighthounds!) of life...greyt companions in every way. May your beautiful Nyla live long and strong. You have found in each other the ideal friendship! 💗
We had a Greyhound rescue some years back named Pippin. She was a sweet couch potato who loved snuggling up with whoever was on the couch! We had a GSD and a chihuahua also and they all got along really well. Pippin had one of those fleece jackets also, in flames!
I really like your dog’s color, very nice!
I hope you enjoy this video about Nyla! Let me know if you would like to see another video on her adoption story in the comments below
Overall
I love greys! My last dog was a retired racer. (You having one was actually what drew me to you). As much as I love my crazy whippet my grey was my soul. I miss her every day. Cherish you time with your quirky lady ❤
Overall Adventures
Yes! I would love to hear her Adoption story. Greyhounds are wonderful
Please share your story. This will motivate me to adopt rather than buy a puppy. (heart)
I've been considering to adopt a retired racing greyhound for a while now and would love to hear your story on how you met Nyla and adopted her. :)
my boyfriend has a greyhound rescued from the tracks. greyhound owners are special, special people. you are so awesome, tina! ♥️
are you sure it whipped
Greyhounds adore racing. They are retired not rescued.
What a little gem you have. I adopted a greyhound about 8 years ago. She was a senior and she was just a joy to be around. She died at the age of about 13 years and i still miss her. I have a treeing walker and a beagle/basset mix right now. Love them both. I am 75 years old and these guys may be my last hounds. But who knows. If I live long enough I may get another greyhound. Loved your post Enjoy Nila. Kevin
Never give up.
This is clearly a love letter to your best friend Nyla. Your affection and fondness flows out so palpably, it’s convinced me to get a rescue greyhound as well.
Florida has banned Greyhound racing so there are plenty available for adoption. I hope you are able to do so successfully 💕🥰💕🥰💕
my mom when I was 16...popped up after work with a rescue greyhound....tony...he was one of if NOT THE BEST DOG I've ever had....I loved him...rip tony tattoo in the ear n all..I def would get another greyhound...I miss u tony ...I hope to see u again
she's adorable!! Would love to hear her story!
Nyla is such a goddess. My mom and I have a pitbull named Atticus and he is simply perfect for us. He loves every single animal and is so goofy yet intelligent (he knows endless tricks); such a snuggle bugg to boot. This video is soo sweet. After watching this, I am reminded of the bs greyhounds go through to simply exist. This video has made me add "adopt a greyhound" to my bucket list for the future. What a perfect perfect girl!
Awww what a perfect name for such a perfect dog!!! Pit bulls are definitely on my list as Nyla's new potential friend
You won't regret it ^_^
Curious to know what you mean by "the bs greyhounds go through to simply exist" - not trying to argue, genuinely interested in what you mean. :)
It's fine! Greyhounds are bred for racing, and people race them, and when the greyhounds can't race or win anymore, they dump them in shelters or abandon them entirely. People just use greyhounds for their own selfish reasons.
That's interesting; I'm glad you know so much about what I do. That's right. I'm a racing greyhound trainer. I've bred, raised, trained, raced, and adopted out maaaaaaaany many greyhounds. I can assure you, when they are no longer competitive, they're placed into adoption through reputable greyhound adoption groups throughout the country. Every single point that Overall Adventures mentions that she loves about Nyla is a direct reflection on the care, love, and attention she was given at every stage of her life.
If you've an open open mind and are truly curious to learn about the life of a greyhound, I'd LOVE to share my experiences with you :)
This video is an ode of a pet owner to her dog. It is like a love song for her dog. It's a beautiful video.
Gus, that is the sweetest comment ❤️🐶❤️
My Husband and I rescued a Miniature Italian Greyhound...We have over spoiled him and will till his end of days😭
He is almost identical to yours for how they are...Lazy, sweet, great with other pets, loves to run and play...Just the best dogs evvver! He sleeps in our bed every night, but When one of us are sick, he will sleep closest to whoever is sick...Cuddles with us like he knows and tries to comfort us...I have never seen a breed worry more about his humans than himself, even if he is sick! So yes, I see yours is an Angel, too and hold her tight!
All kind of side hounds are so cute!❤️ In Europe it’s more common to adopt Galgos or Podencos from Spain (they’re treated really badly there). Galgos look similar to Greyhounds, a little bit smaller, less muscles, more round edged body shape.😊
You’re a beautiful kind person sharing your life with a beautiful kind animal. Perfect match. 👍
I'm on my fourth greyhound, and they are by far my favourite people! LOL I can't live without an animal by my side, and my little Oliver is the best snuggler ever. Thank you for sharing your baby girl with us. Oliver is also a dark brindle. :) So yeah...I'm biased...
I’m so happy this popped up in my recommended this morning. There’s genuinely nothing better than hearing people talk about their dogs and how much they love them. I’m not a huge greyhound enthusiast but Nyla is absolutely lovely 🥰 your bond is so sweet, I had to call my dog over to cuddle while I watched this video 😂
We had an Italian Greyhound during 16 years. He was just adorable. And now, two years later, we’ll adopt again an Italian Greyhound. :)
I can’t wait to adopt a greyhound. Nyla is SO gorgeous my gosh!
As I told another commenter: You will fall in love with magical greyhounds!!! I hope you choose one or two. ❤❤❤
I met my first greyhound which was a galgo 3 to be exact, I do in home pet sitting and my favorite house to dog sit at is a house with 8 dogs (now) and love the 3 greyhounds this house hold has they are so adorable and I love each one of them each have their own personality but I love all them (I love all the dogs I dog sit) but the galgos have a very special place in my heart ! 🤗💝 when I finally get a place in my life where I can have my own dogs I plan on have at least 2 greyhounds probably galgos (rescues ofcourse) 💝 but right now I'm blessed to be around lots of wonderful dogs 🐕 and be there for them when their owners take trips and need some time away 😊
My folks had a retired racing greyhound when I was a kid. My dad already had a whippet named Alice, so they named the greyhound Cooper (get it?). He was a great dog, but if you made the mistake of letting him squeeze past you with the front door open, all you see is legs and tail as he darts down the block in seconds! Dude retired racing at 5 which is a long career, due to him being a winner. He lived to be like 13. Miss that bolt of lightning!
She's so adorable ! If I lived with a dog like her I'd loose my job because I wouldn't leave her :)
Greyhounds are the most beautiful dogs in the world. Nyla is gorgeous!!! Blessings.
A lovely little aspect of greyhounds, I've always believed that they smell good, in fact often say that they smell better even when wet, than most dogs smell dry. 🌹
This made me cry cause my family has a greyhound and I feel a really strong love for her.
They are the perfect dog breed. There's absolutely no downsides, period.
Nyla is beautiful. She is so much like my greyhound lurcher Bertie who we rescued a year ago. Thank you for sharing.
I too had a brindle greyhound. Same deal, no barking, lounger, didn’t mind other dogs. Also, the ear tattoo is generally month and year they were born. Beautiful grey you have there.
We too are enjoying the company of our newly adopted Greyhound, Mr Darcy. A cruelty case, seized by the RSPCA in east coast Australia, Darcy is now enjoying similar activities as Nyla. Visits to the dog park with our other rescue 16 yr old Australian Kelpie/Boarder Collie cross, rides in the car, walks down the street and numerous attempts to hijack our queen size bed. It's hard to remember life before Darcy and anyone thinking about a rescue Greyhound is in for the best experience and lots of loving from a wonderful dog breed.
I absolutely love greyhounds and have wanted to adopt one for many years, we still have our little rescue Rhoda though so can't just yet..... Nyla is sooooo beautiful
She is beautiful!
Had a greyhound racing at catford London, then as a pet after retirement, then later another that I used to watch at Hove, gave the dog a home after visiting a retirement home, they became all my family's best friend, adorable and loyal and loving.xx
Back in '95 My wife & I rescued our big boy Commander! He was to be a friend to our standard poodle Clio! He fell in love with her! She Even saved his life once. The meter reader didn't close the gate all the way so they got out. They ran street rat crazy for a while! My wife was working at her desk in her office when Clio would run into her office and stand & stare at mom. She did this about 3 or 4 times. Finaly my wife notice Commander wasn't around so Clio keep running out of the house so Mary followed her down the street and their was the Greyhound in a big deep ditch and he was running up & down trying to get out but it was very muddy & he couldn't get out!! My wife had to get our neighbor and a rope to get him out!! He was so scared he wouldn't leave her side! So when I got home from work I got "guess what I did today" story. Great loving dog and we still miss him everyday!! Every morning he would wake up eat breakfast go out pee & poop then run 5 or 6 laps around our acre then nap for many hours. The Rainbow got a pretty good dog with him & Clio.
This has very much convinced me to make it a goal to adopt a Greyhound 🥺❤️ So precious. I’d love to hear more about the adoption process.
I LOVE GREYHOUNDS!!! We have had 3 and one was a puppy of 10 months old that got hit and killed by a car!! It broke my heart, i was 16 at the time. They can be stubborn at times. They are AMAZING DOGS!!!!!
When exposed to the cold climate they will actually grow long fur like a shetland pony, my Father had told me that long ago.
Is it not wonderful how happy they make us! Like angels!🧚♀️🐾🧚♀️
I love Labs and Greyhounds. Recently, I was able to rescues a Lab/Greyhound mix. The best of both worlds!
What a beautiful dog! We had a big brindle greyhound named Murphy (or Four Paws Bad Walk, as he was evidently known on the track.) He was incredibly gentle with our three small children and a joy to be around. He was a couch potato too, but when he decided it was time to run, his speed was amazing. He's been gone ten years now and we've moved on to poodle mixes, but I've kept his winter coat and Martingale collar on the hope that we can adopt another greyhound one day.
Sweet memories of your old friend, especially that he was gentle with your kids. People need to read more comments like this about greyhounds...not that I'm biased, or anything ;)
I really love the vlogging aspect to this video
My daughter , Aimi , has a Rescue Greyhound , Guy...he's 11 now and has always been quiet and reserved with my grandchildren growing up and with other dogs ...they are Perfect Life Companions 👌 ❤️
She is very lucky to have you as an owner. Wish everyone would love their animal like you
She is so beautiful! I’m about to adopt my first retired racing greyhound and this is giving me allll the feels! I’ve been debating female vs male and I’m loving her demeanor!
My earliest memories are of greyhounds. Always had them they're absolutely gorgeous dogs, so underrated! To anyone who thinks they don't look cuddly they really are 😂 especially the long haired ones haha
Please tell us more about your beautiful baby girl. She is gorgeous! In the shots of her with the scarf around her neck she did indeed look like a model, so regal and elegant! Thank heavens you found her to love and look after. Much love to you both 💕💕💕
This is the most beautiful vid on CZcams. It was so lovely how you acknowledged what she loves. This has made me feel so lovely! Thank you for sharing. It’s so wonderful you can see what a blessing it is to share your life with Nyla. Greyhounds are so special.
She is precious, enjoy every moment with her!
Greyhounds are so graceful, I love them! Please do make a video about how you found each other!
Beautiful Nila ❤️❤️So gorgeous💕
Beautiful dog!! I had a greyhound called Edward up-to 5 weeks ago. He was a racer before i adopted him. I live on a horse stud my boss purchased him so he didn't have too run( it used too stress him) and we owned him. He had what's called throwback genetics, most greyhounds weight apricots 26\ 36 kg. He weight 51 kg in track and was so massive. He didn't enjoy the racing and used too stressed cramp all the time. When he knew he had a family and he learnt we wasn't going too be palmed off again, he turned hilarious, always moving my shoes or hide and seek when he nicks my food!! I always find him! Don't know how parents keep a traitor face Sadly he was bolting straight face hrough the common and Rand into a laid down 3 by 6 fence post that an idiot dumped. Very sad but he went out gracefully while being free and living life rather than being sat in a room lonely and bored so kind of grateful even though it's sad. Sorry about the essay, I never write but this vid made me remember mybiggerboi Edward :) x
She is super cuttteee!!! Gosh aren't animals the best. I would love to see her story! So adorable
I've been adopting Greyhounds and involved in rescue groups for 26 years. Greyhounds are without a doubt the very best dogs and family members in this world
Hi!!
I live in the Bay Area / Northern California. By chance do you know any active agencies to adopt greyhounds and/or ex racer greyhounds. There is Fast Friends in ca, but unfortunately they strictly only operate in Southern California. Ty !
The way you love your dog is so special. And how everything your pup did was super cute to you, you can genuinely hear the love in your voice. Sooooooo sweet!
Nyla and yourself are blessed and lucky you found each other. They are such wonderful dogs and family members!!!
I would love to hear her adoption story!! 😊
I love Greyhounds! They are amazing!
Rocadog I love huskys I have one btw
We have our second greyhound. Fantastic dogs! So gentle and relaxed.
Greyhounds are the most calm dogs most of the time but mine always runs around outside she is like the one the video but she’s grey and her chest is white
Ikr!
Are they aggressive..?
I’ve been around greyhounds since the 80’s. THE BEST!
In fact, KEEFER (my namesake) was a greyhound, I bred and raised. We were in separable for 10 years. He was one of the largest greyhounds of all time and tipped the scales at 115 lbs. Miss you boy!!!
You were the BREEDER? Did you race?
Salti Dawg Yes. I had a greyhound farm where I bred, raised and finished greyhounds. Later, I trained kennels all over the country. I never, ever put a greyhound down or mistreated an animal. They were our kids. We had whirlpools and ultrasound therapy and cooked stews daily. They were pampered. So PETA can go fuck yourself.
keeferdog I’m the he same raced for years and our dogs were treat like royalty. Some people who think the you race for money and I can tell you it’s cost me a fortune. The had long lives and were well cared for there are cruel bastards in all walks of life and not everyone mistreats greyhounds.
Beautiful Nyla. I have retired Greyhounds. They softly come into your heart and your never the same. The most precious gift is the love of a Greyhound. Please, more
about gorgeous Nyla.
Please do tell the story! Love your channel and this video, Nyla is so stunning.
Simply, a beautiful dog :), she is so calm and pretty :). She lives a good life :)
Thank you for sharing it:)
What a beautiful dog. One of the trainers at my gym has a greyhound and I'm always amazed at how her dog follows her into the gym and sits there, so serenely while her owner gives a gym class.
Omg she is the most prettiest dog ever!! ❤️ I actually grew up with a greyhound but unfortunately passed away a while ago so to watch this video just brings back memories 😍🥰
My lord this made me want to get a greyhound so badly. Hearing her story would be incredible!
She is so beautiful. I love greyhounds and want one someday in life.
Greyhounds look really sophisticated and just beautiful, I like them a lot!
I work with dogs for my job and greyhounds are among my favorite dogs to get as a visit. They're so affectionate, and barely even bark from my experience. I love petting them, and they love being pet.
Nyla is exactly the same as my greyhound! He's just one year old and he isn't as calm as Nyla is (he's extremely playful! 😂), but they do the same things!!
I'm from Spain and greyhounds (in Spanish, "galgos") are really mistreated here because of hunting. My own galgo was found in a container with just a few weeks of life... There are many Spanish associations who protect them, so if you ever want to adopt a galgo, you should check them out! (such as galgos112, sosgalgos or Fundación Benjamín Mehnert ❤)
Galgos amaze me, their beauty is incredible. Their personalities are unique, I swear they're such good dogs! In Spain everyone knows how loyal galgos are. My greyhound is the sweetest dog I know, my family and I love him so much. He's such a baby haha! I wish I could show you some pictures, his name is Valentín and his fur is white/vanilla. Nyla and Valentín would be awesome friends!! Sending love to Nyla and you, this video made me sooo happy ❤❤❤ also I'd love to know her story!! She's beautiful!
Thank you SO much for this info! I am actually thinking about (perhaps) a Galgo next!
Overall Adventures You're welcome! if you actually adopt another galgo, I'm sure you won't feel any regrets 💓
Kaia have you heard of yo galgo? I believe they are making a documentary on Galgos.
this was such a sweet and lovely video, my heart and soul feel warmer for having watched it. she's gorgeous!
Beautiful animal, she's precious.
She's gorgeous. But then she's almost identical to my last hound. I miss my baby girl: we lost her to bone cancer in April. She was 12. Hounds are one of the longest lived big dogs. Everything you said about her is something I recognize. We had 7 rescues over the years (often up to 3 at a time). They were brilliant with the kids, daft as brushes, professional couch potatoes, had servants rather than owners (they're cats in dog suits!), and most were quiet. In fact our second - *my* first, she adopted me :) - didn't make a sound for 6 months. She was v happy, adored our other hound, loved being an indoor dog... she just stayed silent. Then one day she barked for no reason whatsoever! Just the once. I think she did it for a laugh - she genuinely had a sense of humour which erred into the dry, if not satirical at times! After that she'd make the greyhound "squeak" but she didn't "woofle" - our last two woofled a lot. It's a chatty sound rather than a full-on bark. My first girl was also a brindle, except she was a silver-brindle, the palest sort. It's not commonly seen anymore. It's a stunning coat. Our last was just a bit darker like your beautiful girl. I wish you many more happy years together. The memory of her will be with you for a lifetime (I don't mean to sound sad here, it's a positive thing, honest!). There's something special about the greyhound - once bitten (metaphorically speaking), you'll never want a different breed
Aye, she's a beauty, greyhounds are the best! Unfortunately I'm not in a position to have another and I have to get my fix through CZcams. This has made my day!
3:16 this is too adorable.
We just got our first greyhound today, she is 3 yrs old retired from racing. She is blue and called berne. She was born in Ireland. She now lives with us in Nottinghamshire England. I'm so in love with her. So so loyal and chilled. Absolutely adore her. Greyhounds all the way for me now.
What a beautiful story.
You are indeed blessed.
I hope to have a brindle Greyhound someday.
Nyla is such a beauty! I’ve enjoyed seeing her in your videos. Would love to hear her adoption story. All of the dogs we’ve had have been rescues. it seems as though they know that we “saved” them from their old situation.
What a precious creature
Just found this video absolutely touching. Made me cry both happy and sad tears. I very recently lost my bestest friend in the world. She was a greyhound mix. She looked and acted a lot like Nyla. I fell in love with greyhounds because of her.
You are lucky to have her in your life! She is beautiful!
this was really relaxing to watch :))
Once you have a greyhound or whippet there’s no going back! She’s beautiful ❤️
Agreed! I recently rescued a whippet and I’m trying to convince my mum to get a greyhound!
@@eleanorburge1590
That’s awesome! What the puppy name? Just convince your mum It’s best if they have a companion to play with. Or if that doesn’t work just keep begging her 😂
@@jamesbarbato2192 He's called Wilbert, but although he's good with other dogs, he's very much people orientated! I'm going with the begging-every time we're doing something with Wilbert I say things like "imagine our greyhound... whatever we're doing" ;)
Thank you for sharing the wonder that is Greyhound! They're a very unique breed with common misconceptions of being scared and high energy. Videos like yours are GREYT examples of the true wonders that they are.
Everything from awkward jokester giraffes to graceful fawns with the most captivating telling eyes you've ever seen drawing you in to their gentle souls.
I've been involved with rescue for 24 years having 22 retired racers as my own companions along with fostering and am still fascinated and entertained everyday. They have a way of stealing your heart as well as your couch! They're not just pets they're a gift and a lifestyle!
Wishing you years of many memories still to be made!
I can so relate to the snuggly bit... I have a Spanish Greyhound-mix who is a pure Greyhound at heart, I believe. He likes to snuggle up to me on the sofa, but he especially loves it when I meditate. I get my headphones, and as soon as I lie down on the couch , he jumps up and rolls up between my knees/ankles, head on my leg. He is a very anxious dog outside, and he just seems to soak up the relaxation...
I would love love love to hear more about your Nyla and how she came into your world.
Soo precious, this prompted me to get my own greyhound Coco
What a great video. What a splendid dog. One of my 2 retired racing greyhounds (Joy) hates almost all other dogs. Fortunately, when I nevertheless adopted my second greyhound (Edgar), they progressively became more than fond of one another, and eventually began to do things like curling around one another (fairly infrequently, but a heartwarming, almost tear-inducing sight). Much more often, they sleep with their paws touching. Oh, my gosh!
I don't know how you manage to keep Nyla off your bed when you go to sleep; my babies (now 11 and 12 -- how scary) think my bed belongs to them. Sometimes, if I get in the bed first, and, from their perspective I am the one taking up too much space, they each begin the night in their dog beds. Eventually, however, they will take up almost the whole bed themselves, even if I don't get up (I don't really know they do this, but maybe they actually push me around in my sleep?????). But if I do get up, I will most likely not be able to find any space to get back in. I have actually slept in their dog beds once or twice.
Edgar barely sheds, but he is a redhead. Joy is white and sheds maniacally, EVERYWHERE.
Thank you very much for sharing.
And for everyone who wants to adopt a greyhound, could you please keep in mind that not all greyhounds are as perfect as is Nyla, in terms of appearance, personality and obedience. My Joy (the one who hates other dogs) has a three-year period in her life during which no one has a clue where she was; and I found her in a shelter not intended for greyhounds (I was able to determine that she had raced due to the tattoos in her ears (just as Nyla has) and a really lucky online search. Joy is also truly gorgeous. But I guess sometimes, people think Edgar (also a retired racer) is less appealing because he has no hair way up high on each thigh nor on part of his stomach, and because he appears, by virtue of a strange collection of scars, to have been harmed (spaces without hair are pretty common in greyhounds; sometimes these spaces do eventually grow hair, but not all that often). One look into Edgar's beautiful, beautiful eyes made me adore him at first sight and forever.
Nyla is absolutely stunning! You're a wonderful person for rescuing her and so very fortunate to have her as a friend. Thank you for sharing.
