  • WEYMOUTH DORSET | Full seaside town tour of Weymouth
We have a walk along the beach, through the town centre and along to the harbour in the beautiful coastal holiday town of Weymouth to show off the seafront and all the travel and tourist attractions here.
Weymouth is a popular coastal town located in Dorset, England. It's known for its beautiful beaches, historic charm, and a range of attractions that cater to visitors of all ages. As of my last update in September 2021, here are some of the main tourist attractions in Weymouth:
Weymouth Beach: The sandy beach is a major attraction, offering a wide stretch of coastline for sunbathing, swimming, and beach activities. It's also known for its shallow waters, making it family-friendly.
Weymouth Sea Life Adventure Park: This marine life attraction features a variety of sea creatures, including penguins, sharks, turtles, and more. Visitors can learn about marine conservation and enjoy interactive exhibits.
Nothe Fort: A historic fort that overlooks the harbour and offers insight into Weymouth's military history. The fort features exhibitions, underground tunnels, and impressive views.
Sandworld Sculpture Park: This unique attraction showcases incredible sand sculptures created by artists from around the world. The sculptures often depict various themes and subjects.
Weymouth Harbour: The picturesque harbour is a central hub of activity, featuring fishing boats, pleasure cruises, and a variety of shops, cafes, and restaurants along the waterfront.
Weymouth Pavilion: This historic theatre hosts a range of entertainment, including live music, comedy shows, theatrical performances, and more.
Abbotsbury Swannery: Located near Weymouth, this swannery is home to a large colony of mute swans. Visitors can explore the grounds, learn about swans, and even hand-feed them.
Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens: Also nearby, these stunning gardens feature a wide array of exotic plants, themed gardens, and scenic pathways.
Jurassic Skyline: Offering panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast, this observation tower provides a unique perspective of the surrounding area.
Weymouth Museum: This local museum offers a glimpse into the history of Weymouth and its maritime heritage, with exhibits on fossils, seafaring, and more.
Festivals and Events: Weymouth hosts various events and festivals throughout the year, including the Weymouth Carnival and the Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic.
Jurassic Coast: While not specific to Weymouth alone, the town serves as a gateway to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, which spans along the coast and offers incredible geological features and landscapes.

My second home! I lived there for two years in the late 1970s for work and fell in love with the place. Once married we came here as many years as possible as our 'bolt hole'. Now my husband is no longer with us I am coming back this year with his niece which will be bittersweet. The water is so clear you can walk out into the sea and watch the fish swim in and out of your legs. This video is obviously out of season as dogs are only allowed on the whole beach at that time. In season there is a dog section up by the pier where the theatre is. St Mary's Street is indeed one of the main streets of the town. St Thomas, running parallel, is the other and runs straight down over the bridge that opens every two hours to allow larger ships to enter and leave the marina. Look at the colour of the water in the harbour! Too late for me to move down there now but will always be my dream location. ❤

This brought back happy memories of a holiday in Weymouth many years ago....August 1957 to be precise! Entertainers appearing there then were Joe Baker and Jack Douglas and a young slim comedian called Bill Maynard. All of them went on to bigger things.

My memories of Weymouth was when I was a teenager in the 70's. We stayed in a caravan at Bowleaze Cove and I remember sitting under some trees watching the ferries coming in from the channel islands. That’s all gone now by the looks of it, happy days

We visited Weymouth in June when we had a holiday in Dorset. It was packed with no parking anywhere and of course no dogs on the beach. Not keen on crowds and lots of amusement arcades, we just drove through and left. Think I would like it off season like this video. Beach looks lovely.

I have noticed with your videos that they are filmed months before you upload them, nothing wrong with that but why don't you add in the description when they were filmed as people would like to know.

I was born in Weymouth in 1947! An amazing bay and pleasant harbour area but otherwise very little going for it unless you like candy floss and slot machine arcades. Visited recently and the town sadly has a feeling of terminal decline, like many U.K. seaside resorts. The era of the ‘Swindon Works Week’ that used to define the place is long gone but that is probably a good thing!

❤ Dorset & Weymouth was a fave of mine.
The Nothe Fort was an interesting place with great views all around.
I also enjoyed the Isle of Portland with its amazing views overlooking Chesil Beach.
I never did find the lighthouse, though 😕

It's a shame that the old tramway got removed and couldn't be repurposed as a heritage line or as part of a tram (proper trams). A tram route following the original tramway and then going along the promenade would probably would have done reasonably well
