- THE VOCAL TRINITY: SOHYANG VS MONICA NARANJO VS VANESSA AMOROSI
After the last belting battle, i decided to make a full vocal battle for them included low notes, belts and head voice/falsetto They're all excellent vocalist and could be recognized as best singers in the world technically.
(As it's the 2nd version, i wanted to choose different clips from the previous video, but they're still their good notes). Hope you like it!

The songs that SoHyang used to sing need tremendously exquisite techniques. She just looks singing effortlessly. Thats her ability. Vanessa seems great enough here too.
This video shows that Monica has much more power and resonance in the 3 and 4 octaves than Sohyang and in the 5 octave Monica has more power and resonance up to A5 !

There's a lot of physics going on here and personal taste for vocal timbers, which are subjective (full disclosure: I'm a Sohyang fan and not familiar with the others so it's a first time listen to them).
The first thing to consider is the vocal classification. A lighter voice will be weaker in the lower ranges and floater in the upper, a dramatic voice will be heavier overall, top to bottom. The so-called "falcon" (I never heard of it, kindly elucidate) seems to indicate the use of a lot more twang (hence the rock sound).
Secondly tone, Sohyang is a lighter, pure tone (more youthful) and warm even when she belts so there's less grit and weight overall. Monica has the darkest tone so more potential for more overtones and colors in her voice depending on what she sings (and how she uses it). Vanessa uses more twang as her range goes higher (reminds me of Mari Hamada, and Chaka Khan more recently), which goes well with heavy distorted guitars.
Third thing is genre: Vanessa uses distortion quite a bit for her rock style of singing, which gives it the required edge and bite. Monica seems more classical-oriented together with rock and maybe some ethnic style, vocally, which are useful for her heavier voice (I also noticed a slightly more pronounced head bobble with her heavier vibrato), while Sohyang is a mixture of gospel/soft rock/pop/folk (hence the use of varied dynamics, runs in chest and head registers,lots of pitch / register jumps, etc.).
Fourth thing is style / visuals: As far as I can tell (from this short clip), Vanessa is purely a rock singer so her aura, vocal choices and visual presentation match - dark colors, jeans and tops, also her on stage energy and antics. Monica is a crossover artist so there's some chameleon quality in her vocals for singing different genres (and in her visuals). She's worn dresses with darker and more "passionate" colors. She's more of stand-in-place singer (in the clips) for Belting and dramatic effect (I noticed mic stands a lot giving her freedom to express with both of her hands). Sohyang dresses princess-like at times, mostly in dresses, mostly in light colors, often moving around on stage, interacting in the gospel / CCM context a la Whitney / Mariah.
If any of these singers grew up singing in the styles and genres of the others, they would have to have adopted some of the techniques from the vocal inspirations of the others (with the limitations of their own personal voice type and characteristics).
We can only imagine an alternate universe version of each of them.

Vanessa is the least polished in her performance style whilst retaining solid control and technique. Her raw vocal fearlessness best suits my fancy, though each of these songstresses has clearly put in the effort to be formidable forces respectively.

Overall, I think Vanessa is the best , as she is the most well rounded, tho I prefer Sohyang's tone.

hkjc wins yes agree with you.. Sohyang Tessitura placed in D5/Eb5 ~ E6/F6 range. Producing resonance in A4 ~ C6/C#6 in mixed voice. Her technique also so much better than the others.
All are very good but Monica Naranjo has a better voice and is the one that I like to sing.
Todas tienen voces excepcionales pero la de Mónica Naranjo es la mejor por ser la más completa , potente y versátil ... Mónica tiene buenos graves tan buenos como los de Vanessa y mucho mejores que los de Shoyang , el registro medio de Mónica es demoledor mucho mejor que el de Vanesa y Sohyang y este es el que hace que su voz sea la más potente y resonadora de las 3. En el registro alto Mónica es mejor por potencia y resonancia hasta notas tan altas como el A5 y solo a partir de hay Vanessa y sobre todo Sohyang son mejores. En agilidad Vanessa y Sohyang son mejores, algo normal porque sus voces son más ligeras pero sin llegar a tanta agilidad Mónica también tiene una voz ágil.
En voz de cabeza las de Sohyang y Mónica son mucho mejores que la de Vanessa y es sorprendente como Monica puede ir cambiando de su voz de cabeza lírica a la voz normal con agudos mixtos y de pecho con una rapidez y agilidad increíbles que son imposibles para Vanessa y ni Sohyang lo hace también.
Como vemos cada una de estas 3 extraordinarias cantantes brilla más en unos registros que en otros pero en general es Mónica Naranjo la que tiene la voz más homogénea , potente y completa y por lo tanto la mejor 😊

No encuentro álbumes de Sohyang, ¿ no tiene ningún álbum propio ? ¿ No ha compuesto ninguna canción ? Un cantante debería tener sus propios álbumes aunque se los compongan otros compositores, es extraño que Sohyang no tenga álbumes propios ! En mi opinión Sohyang canta muy bien pero le falta personalidad le falta tener un timbre de voz que se diferencie con claridad del de otras cantantes algo que si tienen Vanessa Amorosi y más aún Mónica Naranjo que se distingue enseguida por la singularidad y belleza de su timbre dramático !

Even if her voice is powerful, Her tone is unpleasant and doesn't put enought emotions for me. She's great but that's the kind of vocalist that you won't like. I clarity prefer Sohyang, her lows are weaks but controled, she's sweet with her head voice with a lot of runs, resonance, support ( she can keep 16 second more falsetto, listen to "In the flower garden "), she has a more pleasant and beautiful tone in the belts like she doesn't throw a massive amount of her power for the stamina. I mean that's just my opinion, you don't have to agree but Sohyang is still improving and that's not easy for a never trained 100% soprano

Monica Naranjo has a much more emotional and exciting voice than Sohyang and also Monica's voice is more pleasant in my opinion. Of course Monica can hold her belting longer, more than 20 seconds. Monica has not had as much training as Sohyang but Monica has an incredible talent for singing ...!
Well, it's not a battle if you don't have a winner. It's really just comes to preference with these 3.
For lows, Vanessa has an advantage that is her fach. Her being a hybrid voice (upper extensions on a mezzo core), which gives her around 4 octaves of range, including 2nd octave lows. The same goes for Monica and her fach.
Vanessa sounds the most impressive belting above G5, because of her heady, guitar-like mix that gives me chills. At the same time, Monica slaughters everything in her path up till F5, with the sheer size of her voice. I swear if you take the mic into the audience, like 100m away from her, you could still hear her perfectly fine. SoHyang is a babe tho, her voice is the prettiest out of the three (again, a fach thing, lyric voices have more "feminine", pretty sounds). Her voice is smaller in size, but her technique is just as good. While Monica is still amazing, Vanessa and SoHyang have more ease over G5, again because her voice is MUCH heavier and needs lots of "pushing" to reach into upper fifth. SoHyang kills me everytime she hits a Bb5.
Head voice I'd say it's a tie between SoHyang and Monica, both use their headvoices more than Vanessa. Monica gives operatic realness with a HUGE sound, while SoHyang serves a prettier, softer sound with a huge upper extension. Vanessa is definitely not bad, she just doesn't utilize her head as the other two do.

SoHyang literally kills everyone with with her amazing head voice. No one here has even little part of her angelic full of resonance head voice. When you hear SoHyang head voice and you know who is the most amazing singer. Also SoHyang has the best resonance not only in 5th octave but in the 4th octave now. Her voice is much deeper and fuller now. She is on completely different level. No one from here has even one third of her resonance. SoHyang has nonhuman resonance. Only with one note in 4th octave she fills up the whole human audible spectrum with resonance frequencies - overtones. From under 1KHz up to nearly 20 KHz which is in fact out of the human audible spectrum. We humans cannot hear such high frequencies over 16-17KHz . She fills everything with so many overtones /resonance frequencies/ up to 20KHz only with one note in the 4th octave. You can try to count the overtones here in this video. Sorry but this video in my comment is a 100% scientific proof in your eyes that SoHyang has much bigger resonance than all of them. In fact there is no one who has so much resonance. I already checked the resonance of Monica, also Whitney, Mariah and so on. The difference is really big - several times difference in fact compared to Whithey and Monica. Only Celine D. is getting close to SoHyang but not enough. Also Monica doesn't have at all such head voice. Not even close. This is much more important. SoHyang is not even on the same level. There is no comparison. No one from here can hit the notes so beautifully as SoHyang. Sorry but in music quality is much more important than quantity of notes. You don't need quantity of notes to be one of the most loved singers out there and that is shown everywhere. Musicianship also is much more important than anything else.

Monica voice is just big( difference with resonance) and annoying. I dont like her timbre, i prefer Vanessa's and Sohyang has more coloratura technique.

Los G3 y F#3 de Monica son tan buenos, sólidos y oscuros como los de Vanessa, pero esas notas de Sohyang son poco más que aire.
Lo que está claro es que en las notas medias y en la voz de cabeza Mónica es muy superior a Vanessa y en las notas más graves y medias Mónica es muy superior a Sohyang.
Todas tienen unas voces espectaculares , muy por encima de la media de otras buenas cantantes pero lo que hace que la voz de Mónica sea la mejor es que además de la más potente y resonadora es la más completa y versátil.
No digas mentiras que ya te contesté en tu comentario y además he puesto mi respuesta aparte para que la vea todo el mundo. Claro que Mónica no puede hacer notas altas tan directamente como Sohyang o Vanessa porque su voz tiene más volumen, peso y resonancia en las notas medias y altas donde la voz de Sohyang y Vanessa son más ligeras y ágiles, es algo normal pero Monica también hace notas muy altas directamente y subiendo y bajando las notas como el Bb5 del minuto 9'43 y el B5 del minuto 10'07 de este mismo video.
Él deslizamiento del G#5 de este video y el del final de la canción " Europa en Stage " es mínimo.
En cuanto a tener diferentes texturas , timbres y matices de voz Monica tiene muchas más y los cambia con más habilidad y control. Un ejemplo es este vídeo hecho por un profesional

En el vídeo de Anastasia ella también desliza un poco su voz para llegar a la nota alta y la diferencia de ese agudo de Anastasia es que es ligero , con más voz de cabeza como los de Sohyang y Vanessa , Mónica les mete más voz de pecho por lo que son mm más pesados potentes y resonantes y lógicamente tiene que deslizar más la voz, lo entiendes ya ridículo ignorante ?
Eso no significa que Mónica tenga menos control de su voz simplemente le gusta hacer así sus agudos.

Well, the one who seems to struggle the most to me is Monica. Everything she sings sounds so heavy, like she's just barely managing to hit the notes.. And I guess that that's just my subjective opinion, because she goes higher and higher and sounds the same, so she's got to have some kind of technique.. But to me it doesn't sound that good. It sounds strong and forceful, but not always that good. Her vibrato is so slow that I feel like I'm on a boat, and I'm about to get seasick... To me that's annoying, but I get that it's her style, and many people like that style. And that's not a problem for me. I'm just saying what I think it sounds like. Vanessa's vibrato is sometimes too fast for my taste, but her high notes often sound the best in my opinion. I say that because they sound the most effortless to me. I actually like So Hyang the best out of these three, and out of all the divas actually, but sometimes it sounds like she's struggling a bit, and I don't really mind when I only listen to her, but when she's compared to Vanessa here, I kind of notice it a bit more than I usually do. Therefore I have to give it to Vanessa here, for her great control over both her lower register, which So Hyang doesn't really have, and her high notes, which are insane. So Hyang beats her when it comes to head voice and falsetto however. And all over I think So Hyang is the least annoying singer to listen to over longer periods of time. Yes, Vanessa and Monica's voices are more powerful than So Hyang, but that's exactly why I can't listen to them for too long, because they eventually will give me a headache. So Hyang has a lighter, softer and smoother voice, which makes it easier to listen to for hours, if you're really bothered doing that. It's a bit like cake. Cake is good and tasty, but not if you have cake for every meal. Then it gets sickening. It's better to go with something with less sugar and fat if you don't want to get sick. I feel like So Hyang is that alternative. At least for me. Monica is great, and she has such a powerful voice, but she's too much cake for me. Vanessa is a bit less cake, but still too intense for a discography marathon. So Hyang can be intense too, but I just like her kind of intensity better. It's all very subjective.
