- Sky News Australia host Piers Morgan has questioned why the “woke brigade come for everything” with the Scottish ballet retelling the classic fairy tale of Cinderella.
Mr Morgan described it as “Cinder-fella” as the production has indicated a man may be featured in the lead role.
“Why can’t they just leave this stuff alone,” he said.
“Why do they have to ruin everything?
“It’s a joke.”

Well, I'm all for freedom of expression, so if people are willing to pay good money to watch the show then by all means that's totally up to them. If anyone doesn't care for this kind of thing then they don't have to go see it. Pure and simple. Furthermore, there have been numerous stories that have been retold or had a different spin on them. For example, Movie director Guillermo Del Toro not so long ago did a retelling of Pinocchio set in Italy during the fascist Italy during the interwar period.
I never thought as Cinderella as weak. She suffered abuse in many ways and was strong enough to maintain her hope, happiness and still dream about having it better. Wanting a partner is not a bad thing, wanting to share your life with someone you love is not something to be ashamed off.
Funny, how everybody talks about the abuse Cinderella went through, but no one wants to talk about the fact, that it was *women* that abused her.

Piers a couple of years ago here in Melbourne , they were advertising a theater production of Oscar Wildes classic novel , the Picture of Dorian Gray . I love Oscar Wildes books and i thought i would like to go see it . Until i googled it and found out , that it was a one woman play supported with live video. That did it for me in deciding NOT to go and see it . Why do these people need to destroy classic stories ?
Here's the thing though. I don't deny your right not to dislike someone reinventing a classic story for whatever reason. However, there is such a thing as freedom of expression, and if people choose to pay good money to go see then that's completely up to them. Don't like it then you don't have to go see it. Which you chose not to do. Therefore where's the harm? I wasn't exactly over the moon when they chose to remake Ghostbusters, because I felt like just another cynical attempt at a cash grab. But that's just how it is, unfortunately.

My girls are 18 nd 22. My husband and I worked hard to have what we have. I told my girls that if ya don't take care of me, at home, in my old age, I will take every penny I have and hire someone to take care of me at home. I said they will get nothing. So now, my eldest is going to build on the property to be with us in old age and if the youngest doesn't join the military, she will live on the property as well. In the meantime, we will be building a suite just in case we do need to hire someone if the kids don't follow through. FYI, there is a 1928 British musical called Mr Cinders, with music by Vivian Ellis and Richard Myers, where the protaganist is male. It was revived in London in 1983.
