It seems obvious that it is connected to the moon
the oceans are strong on full moon & new moon
but why the sea is less affected, and more, why lakes don't move at all
Humans pretend having explanations for everything, but if you observe well,

But lakes do move. You obviously haven't been on one big enough. Both Lake kariba and Victoria have waves, and I'm sure the massive lake baikal in Russia will too.
