  • 2006 2007 2008 2009 Range Rover Radio stop working. Bluetooth module is no longer working. Land Rover logo stuck on touchscreen. No navigation or info. The problem is the Bluetooth module and the fiber optic cables needs to bypass the Bluetooth module. Here's the fix

    THIS IS BRILLIANT! I have searched across continents for answers, downloaded tech sheets, replaced radios, wiring, amplifiers, done resets as all suggested by others. This was it. 10 minutes and it was working again. Thanks for your awesome post!!!

    Hey, I didn't read all the comments so I'm not sure if others mentioned it, but this was also the fix for our 2011 LR4 HSE (US edition). The difference is the location of the Bluetooth module and how it looks. You'll find it behind the passenger's side panel in the trunk (boot) area. Before I found this video and this fix, I replace the radio and amplifier with Ebay parts at reasonable expense, but still no go. This isolated the problem to the bluetooth module. I've temporarily looped the fiber optic bus until I can locate a replacement module. Dealer trip avoided!! Huge thanks to K John.

    This worked perfectly - thanks so much for your very helpful video. The connectors on my wiring harness were heavily corroded. A bit of gaffer tape to hold the fibres back in place facing each other on their connector and all is well again (without the telephone)!

    I just wanted to say thank you! I originally followed your steps and could not see light coming through one of the cables, so I thought it was somewhere else in my complete setup! Needless to say, I followed your steps to the easy fix, and it definitely assisted me greatly on my Supercharged 2007 Vogue. Many thanks and I am very excited to have back my sound and backing camera. I have purchased another Bluetooth unit from eBay so here is hoping it works. Thanks once again.

      I would like to add to my comment above K John as this is fantastic. I went online and found another module on eBay for a relative amount and ordered from the U.S. Packaged arrived ahead of predicted mail time by 2 weeks. I aptly applied the 25 mill tool from my garage and removed the offending module, and saw exactly moisture build up in the pins on the module. I cleaned the plug fittings with pure alcohol and wiped all clean and refitted in reverse order of above. Turned the car back on, automatically found Blutooth, and reconnected my iPhone, and no programming or fitting from a dealership required. Thanks so much, got me through a time whilst without Blutooth, and now back up and running, Cheers

    My radio now works
    I tried to reuse the plastic plug as you described but that didn’t work however, I used the brass insert from an electrical coupler (the plastic blocks with a brass tube and two screws in them) to hold the two fibre optic cables in alignment .
    Worked a treat - thanks again !

    Unreal. Perfect explanation of how to do as well as EXACTLY why they fail. Freakin' moisture. I too have fixed almost everything on my 07 l322 SC and am currently stuck on trying to figure out what is causing a parasitic battery drain. I've gone through so many brand new top of the line $300 batteries only to have them completely drained within a month. I literally have to jump my truck everytime I start it now. I think it's a faulty tpms module bc it's causing all kinds of other havoc on the canbus system too I think. Throwing all kinds of communication codes. I'm considering just unplugging the tpms module entirely. Any suggestions??

    • @kjohn8635
      @kjohn8635  Před 3 lety

      Hello. Thanks for watching. Do you have any error codes? Is it both front, or just one side? Is the back rising and not the front? If the back is rising and holding, your compressor is good and you have a leak and need to find it. Get some very soapy water in a spray bottle. Saturate the air bags on the air springs (one at a time) try raising the vehicle to ride height. Observe for air bubbles. If none, there's an air suspension valve for the front springs behind the passenger front wheel well, (search for this video- L322 Range Rover - How To Depressurize Air Springs) it shows how to get to it. Saturate that with soapy water and then try to raise vehicle observe. Keep me posted

My CD changer doesn't work... so I'm curious what the connectors are to the the amp... and if I can possibly just replace that input with a stereo pair... ultimately breaking out in a female mini jack. After I bypass the module the radio and everything came on what about 15 seconds after that the radio went completely off and the screen went dark navigation lights... If I cut it off and started back up the same thing Land Rover screen and the radio comes on 15-20 seconds later it would turn completely off and blank out and will not come back on until I cut the truck off and then started back up...what do you think that might be? I'm thinking maybe the amplifier below the module.

      Check your volts and amps on your battery. Make sure you're using a battery rated for your Rover. If you have a good battery, disconnect cables for an hour and then reconnect. A lot of electrical gremlins happened because of an overload battery. I had a cheap battery in mine and worked perfect for a couple months and then all of a sudden warning lights started popping up and the truck would shut down

      Get some soapy water in a spray bottle. Access your air suspension rear valve block which is located behind the passenger side rear wheel well liner. Raise the L322 to it's highest point. Spray valve and see if you see any air bubbles. Also spray air suspension unit, top to bottom and hose connection. I had a small pin hole in rubber airbag of air strut. For my dropping over night issues, I changed the strut and ride height sensor for the corner that kept dropping and I also replaced the air suspension valve block. I dealt with everything all at one time. Hope this helps

    Hello, I have a 2008 LRRRSC L322. About a week ago, after starting the engine, with the AC running, I noticed a cigarette smell, coming from the front dash, then I noticed that there was no sound coming from the radio and then I noticed what seemed to be a light smoke, bellowing from around the front dash speaker and now my battery is almost completely drained. Any suggestions?
    Sincerely

    Chwers for the helpful video dude i hope it works for me as i am having the same problem, do you put the little blue bit back in to lock the 2 cables into place when bypassing? Or how did you get the cables to stay in place?

    • @kjohn8635
      @kjohn8635  Před 5 lety

      the little blue piece is only if you plan on replacing the module because you will need to slide that back into the connection to lock everything in. I'm not putting another module in so I put it to the side and zip tie the fiber cables to some other wires to hold it in place

    K John, I really enjoyed watching this video I found it extremely informative and important. I have a 2008 HSE that I have been trying to upgrade the bluetooth ability on. I have found online at a Range Rover forum from the UK (www.disco3.co.uk/forum/d4-bluetooth-module-in-d3-53302.html) that you can retrofit that 2007 D3 bluetooth module for a 2009-2012 D4 module. The wiring appears to be a very simple change over. This swap out provides better voice quality, with more clarity and no echo over cel phone, enables better touchscreen, and holds a larger phonebook (1000 names vs. 300) I am mechanically inclined but a dud when it come to electronics and wiring, if you could present a video making this swap out it would be greatly appreciated, not only by myself but I am sure a host of others that would appreciate this upgraded D4 bluetooth module.

      John, Since writing this a month ago I have successfully removed the Nokia Bluetooth module(D3) and retro-fitted a FoMoCo Bluetooth 2009-20-14 Module (D4) I got on Ebay. It worked perfectly by following the simple instructions at the www.disco3.co.uk forum.

      @kjohn8635  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello. Make sure the wires didn't separate too far from each other. Keep them as close as you can and you can use electrical tape to wrap around everything so they don't lose light
