It's all her choice. Naturally, that doesn't resonate with everyone. That's impossible. But to her, true freedom is being allowed to put on the clothes and the makeup she likes, sing the music she likes, and portray herself as she likes. It comes from a big concept in the gay community (which she is a part of) which entails creating your own family when your birth one throws you away, or changing your body to correlate to how you feel inside, and the freedom to do so. Since the latest tracks I heard seem to propagate and glamorize the same "message" like mainstream music usually does, like possessing expensive stuff makes one superior and other tracks seem to be adjusted to fit in with the demands of the music industry. And their interest is definitely not for the greater good of the people but profit oriented and doesn't gets in the way of governmental injustices but in a sense is serving the government by keep the status quo of society intact.
