I am a victim in a 1986 case. My attacker got life PLUS 28 years in court, to be served consecutively - even in California - he is still in prison. SO very thankful for judges who are accountable to victims and the public. So thankful.

Because bail isnt a means of punishment. Bail is a means of guaranteeing that someone will attend trail. Under the eyes of the law you are innocent till proven guilty. The only time bail isn’t considered is the person is a clear and present threat or a high flight risk. On top of all that almost all the jails in America are understaffed and over capacity.

Your innocent till proven guilty. This is a founding principle of Americans society. Bail is meant to guarantee people coming to court. If you bothered open up a history fucking textbook at any period of time of your life, you would know that. Are there people that bail is pointless for and should be revoked yes, it should. But just saying everyone has to be in jail, while facing charges is insane. What if they are actually innocent and instead of being able to go to work, nor to pay for a lawyer and keep a roof over their head for when they beat the case, it would be extremely unfair to put them in jail And have them lose everything for them to only beat the case and have nothing left when they get out

2boys was taken from their family and their so much empathy for Rebecca, and not even so much for the mother who lost two sons I find that outrageous. The media has its way of over looking the innocent and leaning towards socialite.

I'm glad the jury did its job and did it well. April 10th will be time for the judge to do his job, and sentence her in appropriate measure based on the nature of the crime. Two children gone, due to her recklessness, and decided to lie, and shift blame, that should merit a sentence that recognizes her lack of remorse or empathy. The max Grossman can get is 34 years to life, the minimum can be anything the judge decides. She'll be home picking up trash on the freeway every weekend by next Christmas. Guaranteed. That email is absolutely infuriating. Rebecca knew she was about to be convicted based on the evidence that was admitted. So, she tried to undermine the judicial process by having a news organization play video evidence that was ruled inadmissible, on the hope that it would be seen by the jury.
I imagine the judge will bring this up at sentencing. Clearly, it shows a lack of remorse on her part. This probably also means that her current lawyers will have to withdraw from the case and she'll have to find new lawyers for sentencing.
Dirty tricks the whole way through. Gonna enjoy April 10, assuming she doesn't go all Kate Spade up in the Pokey.
@@unite4peace88 I didn't follow the trial, so I don't know what was done the whole way through. But I think it's important to draw a distinction between what Rebecca did and the strategic decisions her counsel made in defending her.
From the outside, defense counsel's actions always look dirty. This is all the more so in cases where counsel is aggressive and the victims were children or otherwise peculiarly vulnerable. But the fact is that the Constitution entitles all of us -- rich or poor -- to the effective assistance of counsel if we are charged with a crime. And good defense counsel will assert a vigorous defense on behalf of their client, regardless of what people on the outside may think or feel about it.
That said, there are limits to how far counsel can go. In defending any client, counsel must comply with the law, rules of professional conduct, and all evidentiary rulings (even those they don't agree with).
So, again, I didn't follow the trial and don't know what all counsel did. But I'm sure most of it didn't cross any legal or ethical lines.
It's a different story, however, if Rebecca's counsel had anything to do with the attempt to get a local news organization to broadcast videos that were ruled inadmissible, so that the jury would see the videos despite the inadmissibility ruling. If counsel were involved in that, then they should be sanctioned by the Court and then referred to the State Bar for further discipline.
@@lukedaniell I understand your point, and I agree, but as an observer of some of the basic facts presented in the case like the speed limit, experts are translating information directly from the cars computer, like the 81 mph, which is the speed she reach right before impact, the defense just lies to counter the information, another fact is she had 0 intention of stopping even after she hit the two little boys, once again this is proven based on the computer data, once again the defense just lies, to counter it. Another fact was the Mothers testimony that she saw barely got out of the way of the white vehicle, grabbing her son, and hearing that car strike her boys, yet again the defense lies, shifting the blame to her boyfriend, and his SUV. Then the daughter lies to help her mother claiming the boyfriend came back and hid in the bushes, watching what unfolded.
I understand you have to have some defense, but sometimes it's not worth it, a simple admission, and throwing yourself onto the mercy of the court is the honorable and best choice to make.
The issue of the inadmissibility of that evidence you referenced seems on par w/ all the actions they took, legal or not.

Those teenagers should have been prepared. The front end of that woman's car was proof of guilt. She didn't just hit the children she murdered those children She was speeding and drunk. The one child was thrown many feet into the air....it was horrible.

Up to this point she has been " walking around" because of status and money and what it was able to buy. Apparently, the defense tried to pin it on the man she was racing against in a separate car, saying he hit the boys first and the boys then landed on her vehicle. Although there was zero damage to the man’s vehicle. So they whipped out total and complete, blatant lies. The mother was there. Absolutely disgusting.
