    While this method technically "works..., cotton, paper towels, coffee filters, etc. damage root hairs and can stunt early growth. Better to soak in filtered/distilled water for 12-24h then direct seed into media with the hilum (seed butthole) facing up and slightly exposed to allow shoot growth without pushing through media. This allows for unimpeded radicle emergence and better initial root architecture.

      Once it's sprouted you can push the seed deeper into the medium? How deep?

    • @timturk1899
      @timturk1899 Před rokem +6

      If using a paper towel method, put the seeds on a folded, moist paper towel piece, put in a baggie and fold it and place it on a flat surface so the seeds are under the damp paper towel.
      This way, the Tap root won't grow up and into the paper towel. Works well.
      I've used the method above, and "SPRAYING VERY LIGHTLY" is a very serious statement. Otherwise these pads will cause your seeds to Rot. I used the "regular amount of moisture", and never again. SPRAY VERY, VERY LIGHTLY, INDEED!👍💯

    • @timturk1899
      @timturk1899 Před rokem +3

      @@nb-eq6rw Germinate them in the dark. Once their in the medium/soil after germination, they'll need light. Even if under the soil, and barely covered(1/16th of an inch), it's time for some light.
      Even a screw in household LED bulb (Cool white is better than Warm white), will give the seedling/s enough light for a few weeks growth.

  • @edespre

    after I got only 1 of 3 to germinate from a 5 pack, I tried this method and it worked very well. Both Tap roots a quarter inch after only 24 hrs in the cotton pads, transfered to rockwool and sprouted their first leaves 24 hrs later. This will be my go-to method from now on. Thanks for sharing.

  • @demsandlibsareswinecancer4667

    It's real simple people. Warmth and moisture cracks seeds. How you go about it is really irrelevant unless you are working with really crappy genetics. Have always used the paper towel method with great success but when I started letting it rest on top of my python cage where it received a bit of extra heat from the IR bulbs, my success rate went up. The Final Touch was making sure the water I use has a few drops of hydrogen peroxide in it. I usually see taproots within 24 hours. 48 Hours on stubborn seeds.
