This is my blog for the third day of my senior trip with my boyfriend to Lexington, KY for the Rolex Kentucky Three Day Event! What exactly is the difference between cross country and jumping?
Even though I'm an equestrian I still don't understand.

Sharon cross country is galloping over natural terrain and various obstacles like logs, brush, ditches and water and its whichever combination can go fastest
Whereas showjumping is in a sand arena and its whoever can jump a specific course of painted poles without knocking them out their posts in the fastest time

Eventing is a combination of dressage, cross country and showjumping, it can be over 1,2 or 3 days.
You get a score for the dressage just like any normal test and time penalties/ faults for refusals, poles down, falls etc. On the cross country and showjumping. the winner at the end is the person who sits on the lowest score after all 3 phases
