Perennial peanuts is a good ground cover. You never have to mow it. It has little yellow blooms that are actually edible. Peanuts help with erosion. Those three stumps would make a good temporary posts for a small deck. I think it’s cool you and your dad working together. Cherish those memories.
Will that survive up here in the north? Snow and sometimes single digit temps. I'm looking for a good ground cover and we're both similar zones, like Zone 6 I think.

Great job you and your dad have done Aaron, the camp looks great. Loved your re-use of the offcuts of tile, "waste not, want not" as the saying goes and it seems to be doing a great job. You'll have to get a shot of the camp when the grass has grown, and you've had a chance to mow around the first hole on the PGA golf course.

Thinning a few trees out in the sinkhole area would probably benefit the other trees. It would give the canopy more room to spread without looking crowded at ground level as they get bigger.

Almost exactly what I’m getting ready to do at my next project. Customer has a wet ponding spot in their yard and this is the solution I’ve come up with too, box drain and pipe it away. Thanks MBTS for the drainage education, you need a raise. haha
