- The simple looking polka dot artworks of Yayoi Kusama are my invitation for you to paint in her style. The painting challenge this time consists of 2 parts: a flat painting and a 3D version. All details around the challenge are explained in the video. I’m already looking forward to receiving your artwork.

Painting Challenge: Yayoi Kusama
Submit your artwork on or before July 7, 2023.
The exercise is shown and explained in the video: look at the art of Yayoi Kusama and decide for yourself where her dot-art or other paintings will take you. All is good. You’re free to choose your art materials, size, color, the art tools you use or whatever. Complicated or simple, make one or more paintings, just surprise me. Whatever you do: enjoy the magic of making art and remember: create to express, not to impress. So any artistic level is okay. Be you and have fun making it.
Also mail me your first name and the country you live in, so I can put them next to your artwork in the video. I appreciate it very much when you also send me a line or two about what you experienced while making your artwork. Did you learn anything, enjoyed playing like this or ran into trouble? I just love to hear from you. Please submit your artwork before July 7, 2023. Just take your phone and snap a picture looking straight down at your artwork, preferably using daylight, but no direct sunlight on it. Because of the second part of the challenge, the 3D-object, take pictures, but perhaps a short video (10-20 seconds) can also be great. Just use your cellphone for this as well.
My email-address is: 4imperfectpaintings@gmail.com
Thanks for participating.
Materials
The art materials I use in the videos are not sponsored.
I prefer to work on multi-purpose paper, more info in this video: • How to choose the RIGH...
In almost all my videos I use with Winsor&Newton Galeria acrylics, if not, I will say so in the video.
Other materials I use are in random order: 5, 10 and 40mm brushes, palette knives, acrylics medium, Ecoline liquid watercolor, Lyra color pencils, Lyra soft pastels, oil pastels, Stabilo color pencils, paper palette pad and basic masking tape. I also use household items like a permanent marker, scrub sponge, scissors, paper towel, and so on.

Interesting exposure to Kusama. I enjoy many of her artworks. I was aware of her work, but it's always fun to revisit. Good luck with the challenge.
Thanks, Culture Fan. I guess it is a case of deceptively simple looking, with lots more depth when investigating. That's always a fun combo for me. Albert
Thank you! I did this exercise in a course on women in art. I'm going to love doing this again.
Thanks, Lady Farmer. Enjoy. I'm already looking forward to receiving your artwork. Albert

Merci, Jean. In case you like to try painting in her style, you can still submit your artwork for the painting challenge. Albert
