I like the content you are offering, keep it up. I wanted to advise you to react to the music "SOS d'un terrien en détresse" (again) but by Gregory Lemarchal during the Star Academy show. It's really the song that gave me the most thrill and emotion so much the artist manages to transmit his feelings in his interpretation. Or "écrit l'histoire" by the same composer.

He 's had a lot of success in the early 2000's, with hits like "En apesanteur"...
This song is about a missing mother, but he also has a song with a missing father! One of his big hits is called "Si seulement je pouvais lui manquer", and gives me goosebumps avery time I hearit...

Personally, I'd warmly recommend you react to "J'AI LE DROIT AUSSI" ("I Have The Right, Too") and its official music video that are about a teenager's coming-out ("I have the right, too, to love him, I have the right to live happily. What will my father say? What will my mother say? What will people say? I have the right, too !"). You'd relate to those lyrics, Dereck. Keep up the good work and take care.

Calogero is my favorite. A master musician with an Angel voice ,full of sensitivity and wonderful poignant melodies. Dereck, with Calogero, you’re on to something great! Hard to recommend anything from him as everything is great!

Hi Dereck ! Calogero gave birth to many very emotional songs, on the same register you could lend an ear to "Si seulement je pouvais lui manquer" (If only he could miss me) which is another story of a child that grew up not knowing who is father was an desperately waiting for a sign, a reunion. "Avant toi" (before you) is a wonderful love song with great melody.
But my favorite would be "Les feux d'artifice" (fireworks) which is a song where he deliveres his memories of when he went watching fireworks as a child. The song is quite simple and he ends up comparing life on earth with these memories of fireworks : it only last for an instant, so for that instant, make it big and shine so that we leave good memories to people when we finaly leave !
But the song became dramatically meaningful after the mass killing in the town of Nice on the 14th of July 2016 when a terrorist drove a truck into the crowd on National day. People were gathered to watch the fireworks and that night he killed 86 of them and injured more than 450.
The families of the vicitms chose that song as an anthem that was a perfect expression of how they felt. Calogero came in Nice one year later on the memorial day to sing his song with a full orchestra. The poor man could not contain his own emotion at the end of the song, and broke in tears just before the end. This is a very very emotional moment in his career and one of the main reasons I love that artist, even if lately his songs might seem not so good as they used to.

The second one isn't the most known because it's an album track, not a single (not sure about the first) but I come from Brittany, my grandfather was a fisher who died in Africa during the fish ( what is called in french "mauritaniens"). There were 2 boats, the second returned at home. When I listen the song, I imagine my grandmother and my mother who was 6/7 when his father died.

For me Calo is one of the best author compositor of the century. His voice is just incredible. His lyrics are just perfect, he always chose the perfects words, either on emotional songs like this one (or “si seulement je pouvais lui manquer”), or more joyous one like “Je joue de la musique”
