I have only been able to play on banter for a few minutes but it's honestly an actual pretty cool place. Physics based social VR is nice! And I first tried the backrooms map and out of all the backrooms maps I've seen theirs is by far the best!
I'm not a vr user. But I want to donate to support this project for being open source and how talented the people working on it are.
I would get the Pico 4 second hand and just throw myself head first at the wall. What's the worse that could happen? Also.. Same, but understanding the technologies and stuff is kinda nice... but the real beauty is how a community of „degenerates” managed to figure it out so beautifully. Cheers!
they have a ko-fi!!
based and FOSS-pilled
@@alecuaalecu1 Never underestimate "degenerates". They are often the most passionate and obsessive people in the world and when that energy is focused on something productive as a collective they can accomplish some truly terrifying feats.
@@Exile_Sky swarm intelligence people unite!
Can I have my slimes back now? 😂
They’re the new hoodie 😂
Yeah I don't think you're getting those back 😅
Nuh uh :3
Nah buddy lmao
Your never gonna see them again
1:47 LMFAO this clip got me
XD that's pretty much my experience with fbt XD (i've only used an xbox kinect lol)
Oh Hi Michealsoft Binbows guy :D
No way, Nick Robinson in my VR Show comment section! VRChat Lore Mystery Trip to Japan Video when?!? There's gotta be some good old lost worlds or mysteries just waiting for an enterprising gonzo investigative gaming journalist to uncover! :)
Never thought I’d see Nick Robinson in a video about my favourite piece of VR tech 😂
Yoo crazy i found you here!
This is why you're an amazing content creator. You don't necessarily prefer slime trackers, and you may continue to just use your vives, but you point out their improvements, you back the passionate people who work on it, and you spread light, where you could've just tried them and bashed them. Thank you for always being someone kind.

I love how the community constructs their virtual body. Almost feels like a right of passage to make them yourself. The magic of virtual.
As someone doing that now for the first time I sure hope it would be after doing all this junk 😂
I use SlimeVR for dancing, and I use the homemade version with worse IMU, and only 6, but still, breakdancing looks amazing and stunning for people, headstands, freezes - you name it: tracking is almost flawless. I do have to reset it sometimes even in the middle of longer dance sets, but it is as easy as pressing one button. SlimeVR is a bang for the buck, people don't believe me that i use slimes and not 11 point lighthouse tracking lol
I'm curious how you got it to work so well. No matter what I did, I could never get it to calibrate decently. It was way too involved and nuanced just for me to be able to track my body decently.
Reading your comment makes me really lean towards getting SlimeVr for dancing, just hope I can get similar results as you
@@trinthaweesuthi yup! Just spend some time getting those body proportions and it's good!
@@DarkSwordsman something super important that i don't think is mentioned enough: IMU tracking relies on having little magnetic interference. is there a lot of metal in your playspace? that might be causing an issue.
The progress that the community has made on SlimeVR is really impressive!! I hope that they are able to meet their shipping goal; it is always awesome to see full body tracking becoming accessible to more and more people 😇
I hope they can simplify the software setup and calibration process. That seems to be the current pain-point, besides the shipping times of course.
@@DarkSwordsman I hope so too, time will tell!
bought slimes back in February, tracking kept getting pushed back but after a couple of months of tracking updates, it stayed steady with its arrival date. Really happy to hear the Slimevr team is doing better!
Mine changed to January 😭
bought mine back in december 2022. hopefully they arrive soon!
I bought mine of December 2022. My estimation is that they’re gonna be coming out around July 2024
same! maybe next year!@@Moralityz
Thankfully, for those with a little bit of electronics skill most of the magic of slime is in the software and making custom hardware to work with it is both quite cheap and easy!
After three years, you still make amazing content and have grown alot, keep up the good work Phia!
Slime VR is great. The fact that it is open source makes for some amazing VR stuffs. My favorite so far is being able to use old android phones as trackers. Only downside is you need at least 5 old android phones. I had a bunch of Galaxy s4's and s5's and it worked pretty well considering. I still Primarily use my Xbox One Kinect but it's nice that you don't need DIY or solder skills to mess with Slime VR.
The Xbox Connect was really ahead of its time and its sad that there is no real development in similar external depth-sensor tracking. I think if something like Slime VRs could be combined with external depth sensors or IR led tracking like the old wii remotes then that will make them truly a Vive alternative - the IR/depth tracking can be an optional add-on to help prevent drift when using them but then occlusion still won't be a problem because the Slimes will still be able to operate just fine when external tracking is lost to occlusion.
@bebelynx there is a project that is combining cheap Playstation Move cameras with Slimes for 2 way tracking, and the results look amazing. Once I get my hernia surgery, I'm gonna get back into VR and grab me a couple of the cameras to go with my cheap DIY slimes.
@@TyoAtrosa What's that project called? I'd love to look into it!
@@mageenderman PSMoveServiceEx I think, or something like that.
@@bebelynx I wish that there were basestations that track like the kinect yet have basestation levels of precision and accuracy.
Don't forget the wonderful community that's been so much fun since the beginning, they are helpful, nice, and always ready to hangout! Can't beat that.
Mine was ordered March, was suppose to be shipped Aug then changed to Sept, Then November 30th.. Now December 29th
:c
Dang that sucks.. :/
So good! Thank you so much for showing this amazing technology and community! Much love and aloha from Hawaii!
OMG IT'S Z FROM THE VIDEO! Aloha!
Thank you for all your help Z!! you are awesome!
I'm so proud to see you in a PHIA video, thanks so so much for everything you do for the community!
You released this video while I was doing research on Slime. You are a Blessing!
great to see slime being better! all the love Eiren and the team, there doing something great. would be a fun project to make some, having something like this thats open source is awesome, especially for repairability aswell
amazing video as always! love seeing slimeVR video's! i'm working on my 10 point tracking right now :D
just want to say thank you! Been tossing up between getting something to track to my .vrm and this genuinely helps decide what suits my purpose!
Wanted to say thank you for your content. I have learned a fair bit thanks to you. Your explanations are very comprehensible for Gen X'ers like myself.
Thank you for doing justice to the current state of SlimeVR, more people need to see this
I appreciate the production quality and succinct intro. Thanks for the video!
SlimeVR works quite well with just phones velcroed to my body. This tracker set should be incredible. Rooting for SlimeVR to hit their goals and get these super available.
AND less than $50 for a 5 tracker set.
@@cyberboy9550 less than 50 for a 5 tracker set? mind sending me where? they should be going for 195 for a set of 5
Excellent video, great to see the Slime VR featured!
I ordered mine a while back, so happy you made a new video about it, from what I can see, it doesn't look like I wasted my money, just been waiting for so long been considering just buying vives and just using those until the slimes arrive
Great video, really love to see more about tracking
Yooo, your face tracking is smooth as all hell! Like you were animated by a professional studio, not a machine picking up face movements! Nice!
Professional Studios also use face tracking
@@CALNDStuff True, it's still a compliment, she's rocking some damn good hardware. Professional grade!
Fun fact about SlimeVR software, if you dont want to buy the trackers but you have some Switch Joycons around, you can connect them and use them as trackers :)
I'm getting the parts together to do my own DIY's. I feel that allowing people to make DIY units and make changes to the design, use different parts and, as of this point in time, providing certain parts via their online store (they have their own version of the excellent BNO085 IMUs at a fraction of the price of ones made from companies like Adafruit) and even allowing people to sell their own variants is what keeps SlimeVR alive despite the delays and the communication from Eiran on the progress of the official units and real photos of stock/progress is what encourages people to wait through the delays. Honestly I have my IMUs arriving today and will be ordering other parts soon and I can't wait to make my own tailor-made design specific for my body (I'm keeping the IMUs separate from the microcontrollers to improve placement accuracy and so I can make them easy to replace/swap better IMUs when they become available/supported). There is so much potential and with enough support, they can only get better
I hope it goes well. After 60 hours of assembly and a dozen or more of trying to calibrate, they've been sitting on a shelf for 9 months. They were too frustrating to deal with.
The good of Vive Trackers is that as long as you have a SteamVR headset with base stations is that it just works with hardly any setup.
SlimeVR can be a bit more of a pain with frequent calibration, posing and getting them in the correct location.
My girlfriend is happy-ish with the set that I built by designing my own 3D Printed cases + learning soldering.
It is just the frequent calibration when it is working that makes it a bit of a pain.
Still a lot of fun and you can cover SlimeVR Trackers with clothing unlike HTC Vive Trackers which need constant view from base stations.
After building them and trying to get them working myself, it makes me want to just save up for vive trackers. Or really, I want to get the camera-based ones that HTC teased a while ago.
I had no idea about Slime VR and it's open hardware nature; that's awesome! I love Crowd Supply and was surprised to hear it mentioned in a CZcams video for the first time, especially wasn't expecting it from this channel.
i had subscribed to their emails to get updates, found out about them from you and im so happy to see they are growing more. I cant wait to get my own
So exciting! I can't set up base stations in my playspace, so I am 100% springing for the slimes when I have the chance!
This gives me so much hope to be able to interact with my friends far better than before! Thank you for your wonderful video
your model is adorable! Great video, one day I hope to get some slimes of my own!
ill say this you are one of the people who i find so inspiring and you have helped me find out who i am as a person in whole, i hope others find your channel to be just as helpful as much as it have helped me
Solid, information packed video. Outstanding.
built mine 5+3 (6050)with absolute budget goal in mind during early 2022, i was shocked during first time wearing them, the UI was still the beta UI, but it was working good enough for normal tasks, it costed me total 70$ all raw materials, in clude straps and buckles, a lot it came from house hold supply, be creative and be careful(battery), it has been one of my best DIY journey ever.
now I acquired BNO085 from the official store, upgraded my chest and waist, it is already so freaking good.
A prime example of what a good community can archive, I am so happy to be one of them.
I've been waiting excitedly to get my set of the SlimeVR Trackers. I pre-ordered the full body set (7+3) Just alittle over 2 years ago. Nov 5th 2021, the shipping date keeps getting bumped back month by month. But I'm not mad about it watching their live streams of the production of the trackers. Here's to hoping they can complete my shipping order before the end of the year!
I... wish you the best. 2 years and anticipation probably built up a ton of expectations for you. My DIY ones were really frustrating to deal with, and they've been sitting on a shelf for the past 9 months.
The open source and allowance of users to make their own is really awesome and makes me want to support the project even more.
Will for sure keep an eye on this product. I love the community backing. This is great!
As someone who's been waiting for their kit, Im super excited!
Your last vid made me really want to get this kit!
I watch a lot of Trill and saw his early slime videos and this is my first time watching you so I got major whiplash seeing him out of nowhere lmao
I didn't know there was a calibration meetup!! I've just been fiddling with values till its decently accurate, but idk exactly what they all do. Particularly with 8 point (5+3) rotating my foot makes my knee move a little bit when its not irl. There's foot size and offset, but idk where its actually moving the pivots relative to the bone in 3d space.
With that said, well calibrated imu trackers are definitely the way to go. My diy trackers stayed calibrated for a few hours accurately with only the quick reset. Slime FTW 💙
love how it gets better with every version :D
Awesome video Phia!
Thanks for this in depth video that provides practical tips~!
Oh my God I was in the slimevr event. I love your content via keep it up you're amazing thanks for the picture by the way.
thanks for showcasing our community :)
TYSSSM for this! ive been wanting to buy fbt and this is so economic!
I am very grateful for the creators of slimevr
Vive/Tundra trackers actually use IMU technology as well. The lighthouses are there to correct the errors naturally generated in the IMU tracking process. At regular intervals, the lighthouse will send correction coordinates to the tracker, which (when combined with the IMU data) gives the tracker its location.
i love the idea of fbt and stuff dancing with those avatars with really flowy random stuff on the arms and body just looks so cool
Happy Hollidays, Phia! Thanks for the awesome coverage as always! 🎉❤
Thank you so much for posting this update!! I have been wondering when my trackers would arrive or if it was a scam 😅 this really helped!
did you film the "talking to the camera" shots using slimes as well? the movements all look very natural!
Sure did! I've used Vives for elbows before in recording, but I've always just ended up not bothering from the hassle. You can also use Slimes in conjunction with Vives/Tundras, which is more comfortable, so I will likely start using Slime elbows for all my vids :)
@@TheVirtualRealityShow i see, very cool! thank you for the video~
I was literally thinking about what full body tech to get and this video pops up!
Thx!! Helpful stuff!
Id say the reason they aren't being talked about is the time to deliver. I ordered back in early July 2023, and am still waiting. On top of that, there are people who have ordered WAY back in 2021 and are STILL waiting as well. Love what slime is doing but they were not prepared to deliver at all. The majority of people who bought them just do not even have them yet. I honestly wouldnt be surprised if there's just as many people who received their slimes as there are people who built their own.
I use them for dancing. They do have issues with drift that has to be calibrated often. But yeah they work and give you full body
This looks like such an awesome product 👀
I ordered mine back in March of this year (misunderstanding and not knowing how big the work load was and thinking I'd have them by now, lol). It's been nail biting watching the issues of the last few months seem to mount, but the team never gave in and kept going. It's so uplifting to see and hear how close things are to being full on and SlimeVR standing shoulder to shoulder with Vive trackers!
Shoulder to shoulder... yeah, this is what I was worried about. Tracking quality and cost are only two of many other variables. The frustrating thing I am worried about is people over-hyping SlimeVR. They're pretty good, but it ignores all the work that needs to go into developing them and learning how to use them. It took my friend an entire year before he got to a good spot with his SlimeVR trackers, and even then, they are no where near the quality or user expeirence of Vive trackers. They are completely different.
So cool to see the evolution of the tech! Love your videos, Phia ❤
the queen of vrchat u are amazing to detail to everything
thank you for all the info
I’m DIYing them while I wait for the official trackers to come xD it’s quite fun either way though!
Something interesting to look forward to..😮
Great video :D. I was lucky enough to get my official set this August, and they work really great for a non-lighthouse tracked FBT.
As a Pico user, it brings my immersion to another level. I got vertigo again while looking at my feet moving correctly at the edge of a cliff. It's been a while, haha.
where to buy from?
Its also very impressive how the VRChat community is really something special. Thanks Phia for keeping up the good work for VR!☮️
I actually am a manufacturer and seller of slime VR trackers, the best part of them is they are open source so you can go make your own for under $100
Preordered a production unit, and excited now when they come
I got my SlimeVR setup running about a week ago. It is great! It does come with a bit of a manual, but it is so worth it
I have been waiting so long for a modern review on slime now I can finally stop waiting and searching
Can't wait to build my own slime trackers. All the stuff for me to start building it should be here by the end of the month! Amazing video! That's really good to know that there is people out there willing to help me If I get stuck
All I can say: set your expectations as low as possible. I spent 60 hours building them and 10+ trying to calibrate/configure them. They've been sitting on a shelf collecting dust for the past 9 months.
It's been a long time since I've watched one of your videos, I love your new model!
Iv had someone make mine for a good year now, love them and ill never think about Vive Trackers.
I did the DIY route and purchased the parts myself. the open source community is incredible. with people uploading custom PCBs with matching cases. making your home built set look completely pro.
omg i really whant this now thay sound so nice and that community collaboration meet up sounds like such a good idia and the one on one would help so much i want to join and get some slime trackers when i can
NEW VIDEO YAY❤❤❤
Really enjoyed the Slime VR video! In reference to the issue with devices dropping: this often happens when a router is handling too many connections. With a full Slime VR setup plus other devices, it's a common challenge. Upgrading to a more robust router, possibly with Wi-Fi 6, can make a big difference in managing multiple devices. Alternatively, setting up a second router could help distribute the load. Keep up the fantastic work with your VR content!
I gotta get this for my Quest 2 for whenever I play VRChat in PCVR Mode from my laptop! :3
I HAD NO IDEA SLIME WAS OPEN SOURCE! I'm sold. That's all i need to know.
you made me miss vrchat, yk what im gettin a quest 3 and some slimes and returning too my comfort places
It's nice to see Miss Stabby's Lighthouse demo still being used.
Thank you for the tip, I was confused on how it worked
vr looks like so much fun cant wait for when i can actually afford it :D
This is going to be great for Dance Dash when production is on track.
After seeing thrill's new video on Slime, I decided that I was going to make some myself, and for only $60 I was able to order all the parts for 5 trackers and 3 extensions! I'm so grateful for the people who worked so hard on this project, I don't have a lot of money so $390 is a bit much for a QOL feature, but Slime made it possible for me.
The absolute best part of diy slimes for me has been the fact that I can build each tracker for roughly about $5-10 dollars a piece and still get decent results! And it's given me a new excuse to get back to messing with my 3d printer again. The electronics themselves are very cheap, unless you go with the top of the line IMUs in the official units. And even with the top of the line IMUs, still much cheaper than any other tracking solution on the market. And the community is amazing, I've learned so much about how to solder and about electronics from their discord!
Sounds like they made some advancements in reducing drift, but still have other issues. Good effort on their part! Fun DIY project I guess.
Your avatar model looks so cute
I never tried VR Chat, seems pretty fun
i just got my first headset and im already excited to someday get slime trackers. my friend told me when im ready for it, to check out slime so when i get some side cash i'll look into it (probably once all the shipping issues are resolved so im not adding to the problem haha)
i always forget you and thrill are together... literally my 2 favorite VR channels what a treat. always amazing content from the two of you!!!
good vid, I may try to build a set
Slime creator is so wholesome. I wish them many good lucks.
I preordered my slime trackers last July, and still waiting on them, but even tho the wait is long, I am still excited for when I'll get them, because I meet people in VRChat who DIY'd them and their tracking is already pretty good, but those people tell me that the trackers that I will receive will have even better tracking. And the fact it can be used without light houses might truely change VR over time
Oh my god, that is one handsome kitty 😂 6:20
I bit the bullet and bought a set of slime trackers in August. They're slated to arrive at the end of January. Hopefully it goes well (fingers crossed). I am very optimistic about this, because it seems like Slime is only getting better with time.
PLease update me
Your new avatar looks so goood!
So happy seeing Eiren and ZRock and Fjrn in this video and everyone else in the community!!
THAT VIDEO IS TWO YEARS OLD??? Wow time flies
