  • Magnetic phone holders are simple and versatile. However, they often need you to stick a metal plate on, which makes your phone or case aesthetically unpleasant. In this video, I would like to show you how I make my in-car magnetic phone holder MagSafe compatible with style. This should be applicable for iPhone 12 and 13. Hope this will inspire you for your own little DIY project.

    Maaaytte!! Never in a million years did I think I’d find a CZcams vid for EXACTLY my problem. And what’s more all your links for eBay are Aussie too!
    I just upgraded to a new iPhone 14 with a MagSafe cover and really didn’t want to glue on a metal plate to the back.
    Bloody legend! Thanx! 🇦🇺

    There are plenty of ways to do this... One is U could use two carbon boards and sandwich the parts in the middle, then u could avoid dealing with the adhesive film on the magnets. it'd look way better and protect the magnets from falling off as time goes by.

      Thanks for the idea. It was not the best design I had. Ideally I would like to embed the magnets inside the piece (until I learn how to fabricate carbon fibre composite).

    what you should do is -- buy a magsafe charger and stick that piece of metal on, then your phone will not just hold there but also charge when you drive.

    Just wanted, I have a more better solution, I recently purchased something type of mount, if you happen to use cheap apple wallet with MagSafe, you can stick the plates inside the wallet, since the it holds strong. I use the Apple leather case, it holds the wallet pretty strong, Hope this helps

    I love this, I only have to wonder though, your adapter made the metal plate off centered. Can the phone still be properly held horizontally?

      Hi Ben, glad you like it. You got a keen eye. It is slightly off centre. May not be ideal for horizontal position. However, I found magnetic holders not strong enough to hold heavier phones horizontally compared to those with clamps. Perhaps I can work on a version 2 to address that issue 👍🏻

    This video is more about removing adhesive than the phone holder…

    Is that carbon fiber plate or just plastic?

    • @wai-2-go610
      @wai-2-go610  Před 2 lety +1

      It is genuine carbon fibre plate (serves as bottle opener) purchase from eBay :)

      This is for in-car use only so I am not too concern, but definitely a good point 👍🏻

    My solution was way easier.. I bought a 59$ Journey Magsafe compatible wireless charging car mount from JBHIFI . Even holds my heavy brick of an 14 pro max well. And charges it at the same time.
