    About Young Sheldon:
    It’s 1989 and 9-year-old Sheldon Cooper has skipped four grades to start high school along with his less-intellectual older brother. As he struggles to be understood by his family, classmates and neighbors, his mother arms him with the best tool she can come up with: reminding bullies his dad is the football coach and his brother is on the team. His twin sister doesn’t share his exceptional mind, but she has a much clearer vision of what life has in store for the young genius.

For instance, when Sheldon had the panic attack on the airplane, he was able to bring up Sheldon's love of Spock, to get him to emulate his behavior, and over come his fears. It showed that he had a deep interest and understanding of his son, and what he enjoyed. TV needs more father figures like this one.

      Ironically, Sheldon wouldn't have turned into such an overbearing guy if George Sr. didn't die early. His death during Sheldon's early teen years probably was what turned Sheldon into the guy we see on the TBBT series. Without his dad who knew how to keep Sheldon in check, it was no wonder why Sheldon became the way he is now.

    The way George Sr. just lets Sheldon vent, gosh, that is like the biggest thing a parent can do for a kid, just hear them and let them know they are heard. And then they had a reasonable, calm, conversation that ended the best way it could, go say sorry, and that's the end of it. Granted, with Sheldon an adult and child conversation is a lot easier when said child has a level of adult understanding, but that's beside the point, his dad saw a way to relate and used that to solve the problem, round of applause for a perfect parent moment.

    • @nickronca1562
      @nickronca1562 Před 3 měsíci

      I have a question, where do you draw the line between what is and isn't worth it? Because in my opinion, what Sheldon was doing WASN'T worth it. Not because of how tiring the job is, or even because of how little he gets paid, but because it was a job he seems to be [almost] physically incapable of doing. Get a job to be able to earn enough money to be able to pay for the fridge again, sure, that was very good on his part, but I think the number 1 rule in picking a job to do above everything else, should be making sure you are fully capable of doing the job. He was almost incapable of delivering the newspapers, and wasn't capable at all of delivering the newspapers on time. I truly think that that, above all other good reasons, is the sole singular best reason to quit your job and replace it with another job, one that you're more physically capable of actually doing. But I digress, that's just my thoughts on the situation. But where do you personally draw the line between what is and isn't worth it, or do you think that that's up to the individual doing the job? And do you agree or disagree with everything I said?

    • @nickronca1562
      @nickronca1562 Před 3 měsíci +3

      Is it bad for me to say that I think in this one case he really DOES have it the worse compared to other people's days, even Gorge's? Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that excuses him lashing out to his family, but what do you think is worse being yelled it by some angry parents then getting elbowed while trying to break up a fight, or spending 6 or 7 hours to do a job that will take most people only about 1 hour or so because you're [practically] physically incapable of doing it, but that job of all jobs is what you have to do. I know George specified that it was just what happened before 10am, but my point still stands. I mean he's on a bike for like 6 or 7 or so hours a day often times in the middle of a rain storm where he can hardly peddle forwards all while getting drenched and the "I had a bad day too" speach was "oh well, I got yelled at and elbowed", again NOT saying his day excuses Sheldon's behavior, just saying I think in this particular case Sheldon is right.

    • @xia0pr0ice
      @xia0pr0ice Před 3 měsíci +1

      @nickronca1562 I agree with you to a certain extend. What I am getting at is, everyone has been through bad day in their life, no1 started strong. I don't think most people go to work, experience different hardship cause they want to buy they have to. No one have it easy. It's not about comparing whose day is worse. George probably had worse days but he doesn't go home lashing out at them. It's like comparing a failed rs, an abusive rs, and an unfaithful rs. All is painful in its own rights. Not saying who have it worse. But as an adult or kid, he has the tendency to think his life is the worse out of everybody despite everyone been facing shitty day and could lash out if they ought to. But i understand you're sharing no excuse to lash out. So that's agreeable. My main point is that, he always thinks his life is the worst. Hence, having rights to lash out on others and George being able to show him a different perspective is really something.

    • @nickronca1562
      @nickronca1562 Před 3 měsíci +1

      @@xia0pr0ice I also agree with you. You're right that the scene isn't suppose to be about comparing who has the worse day between the two of them, and you're right that Sheldon does often put his problems above everyone else's, like all the time. And yeah, we both agree no excuse to lash out. My only point was that your comment was that Sheldon always thinks his problems are worse, but in this particular case I think he's right. I mean neither are desirable, but if I had to choose between either of their two days, I would much rather choose George's day than Sheldon's day because I view it as "a bad day in a job that you're physically capable of doing vs. a bad day in a job you're [practically] incapable of doing because of a clear disability on your part". At least that's how I view it if we were playing Would You Rather, and the question was "would you rather have George's day or Sheldon's day?". But yeah, we both agree on all the important things though. Part of the reason I made the comment is because I emphasize with Sheldon in scene [more than most people] since I have autism and I would not be able to handle a job I am practically or entirely incapable of doing without help. I took Chemistry in college and it always took me like an hour longer to finish my lab than everyone else and I always needed the teacher's help, and without her I would be physically incapable of doing it, and Sheldon is [almost] physically incapable of delivering those News Papers, only he has nobody there to help him, and he has to do it for several years before he has the $200 or whatever by how little he is paid. But yes, I fully agree with your comment too. Everybody has bad days at work, that's very agreeable, people don't start strong that's agreeable, no one has it easy, that's mostly agreeable [I say mostly because I'm sure some people would say they have it easy with their job just not a lot], it's just to me personally if the reasoning why you don't have it easy isn't JUST because you're stuck in a job you hate, but a job that you're literally almost incapable of doing, that isn't just another example of someone having a bad day or someone disliking their job.
      Overall we seem to agree, just with emphases placed on different parts of the agreement 👍. But we both get at what the other one is getting at it seems. I hope you have a great day.

    I’m starting to think that this series won’t show George cheating on Mary. Throughout seasons five and six, you see him being tempted by Brenda, but there is nothing explicit or confirmed.
    This tells me that the series may end with the revelation that Sheldon fabricated much of his childhood life to his friends to fit his narrative.
    Throughout TBBT, Sheldon complains about how redneck his upbringing was in Texas, while for the most part the Coopers seem to be a pretty normal family just trying to get by. It is also seen in seasons 5 and 6 that Sheldon is learning to be more independent to the point where he believes he doesn’t need others to help him (though his love for his mother still holds true).
    I believe that when the series ends, an older Sheldon who has been narrating the series may admit to the viewers and to himself that because of his ego, he exaggerated many things about himself and his past more than necessary.

      George is supposed to be a tragic character in this show. He starts off as a good father and a husband who tries his best for his family, but we’re slowly seeing his decline. Even in the later seasons, we’re seeing him slowly but surely struggle with being faithful to his wife because she doesn’t appreciate him. If BBT is to be believed, then by the end of Young Sheldon we’ll see George fully cheat on his wife, start drinking more, and inevitably die.

      @@juansanchez209 My bold prediction is that, during a time of family turmoil (Georgie having a baby, both parents without jobs, Missy being a teenager, and Sheldon being Sheldon), Mary and George decide to work together to keep the family together. To spice up their intimacy, Mary wears a racy outfit during lovemaking. When Sheldon opens the door without knocking three times (for the last time), he mistakenly thinks it's another woman.

      It's not that hard to understand; the screenwriters developed a story about George for TBBT. At that time Young Sheldon hadn't been conceived yet. And, as I've said before, Sheldon is an unreliable narrator. Just look at how he describes his young self. How reliable are his other memories?

      George is a human being with both good and bad characteristics. I'll mostly agree that he's a good father because occasionally he has these moments of gentleness and wisdom when you least expect them. But on an average day, he walks around the house with a beer in his hand, being grumpy and making nasty comments to everyone, especially Georgie (who himself is a good person with imperfect characteristics).
      George's good and bad sides are well balanced; you could go either way and have fun debating whether he should be treated with respect or condemnation. I wonder if he'll actually have "coitus with another woman" or will that story line never happen in YS, or maybe it'll turn out that Sheldon mis-perceived something.
      It was easy to talk bad about George in TBBT, as he was already deceased and never seen on that show (as George). But now that we've all gotten to know and like him, it'll be hard to see him as a cheating husband in that loving home. He will have to die soon. Let's see what happens...

    Sheldon's problem with the newspaper job is himself his act of perfectionism. He didn't even need to fold it perfectly just how Georgie taught him & he just leave the newspaper in the doormat. But instead he actually took effort making a perfect fold & even ring people's doorbell instead of just leaving it there.

    It may seem like Sheldon didn't actually learn from this, as Adult Sheldon says that he is "never irritating or abusive" to anyone, when he clearly is. However, within this show, Sheldon does display significant character development from this incident. For example, in S5 E14 "A Free Scratcher and Feminine Wiles", Sheldon does not take his anger over his bad day at school out on his family, and instead tried to solve the problem himself. (Unfortunately, he ended up trying too hard, and got kicked out of the project.) George also takes his own commitment to this very seriously; for example in S5 E13 "A Lot of Band-Aids and the Cooper Surrender", he tries hard to avoid yelling at Mary, and to find a compromise solution. On the other hand, Mary is terrible at not taking out her anger on other people; for example, in S4 E18 "The Wild and Woolly World of Nonlinear Dynamics", she has a bad day at work, comes home, and takes her anger out on everyone despite having no idea of what was going on at the time.

      @Christopher Bingham Umm, why was Sheldon not at fault? George warned him not to mess with Missy when she was having problems of her own and he went in regardless. Understanding that it's his room too and he can do what he likes, but there are things called personal boundaries and privacy. It's common sense to give a person space when they're upset especially if you're sharing a room with them. Yes, it was wrong for he to tear the poster, but he shouldn't have provoked her in the first place and let her vent out a bit. I guess he was concern about her changing up her side of the room but he stepped over the line where she got angry. Mary didn't considered to ask if Missy was okay when she was crying and only took Sheldon's side without consulting with Missy. Now how is she right?

    • @pkdonny1018
      @pkdonny1018 Před 2 lety +3

      @Christopher Bingham He did, he did something wrong, he made her mad by bringing up her problem which was not cool. Sure Missy was wrong in taking his poster and ripping it, but he still should not have provoked her like that. They are both wrong in that manner. It was his fault for making her upset even more, but I also know it's not an excuse for her to do that.

      @Christopher Bingham it’s like you didn’t read a word of the replies to your comments🙄 that’s because you didn’t; you were too busy planning what to say next. I catch young attorneys doing that in my courtroom all the time, ultimately to their detriment. Here when facts and logic were offered in rebuttal you skipped over them wholesale, as if they didn’t exist, likely because they didn’t fit your narrative. The world will be nonstop conflict for you if this is how you have a disagreement in a discussion. The need to be right overpowers all else. In the end you wind up looking like a petulant child throwing a tantrum. Suffice to say it doesn’t increase your perceived intelligence either. Finally, this is just a TV show-lighten up🤦🏾‍♀️

    George benched a linebacker for flunking English, because he was running out of patience with him. He found out about this after his English teacher told him what happened. George tried to break up a fight in the locker room and got elbowed in the neck because the players were beating him up for the incident. The principal and the linebacker's parents yelled at him for doing the right thing. Which is because they didn't care about him flunking English. They just want him to focus on football, they yelled at him because the incident cost them the game.
