  • Household water bills in England and Wales are to rise by an average £19 a year over the next five years - a third less than the increase requested by companies, under draft proposals announced by Ofwat.
The regulator said water firms proposed increases averaging £144 over five years.
For example, Thames Water’s proposed increase of £191 by 2030 has been reduced to £99, while Severn Trent’s proposed rise of £144 has been cut to £93.
There are significant variations in price changes between firms.
Talk’s Jeremy Kyle discusses the story with lead campaigner of ‘We Own It’, calling for public ownership of water companies.

    Will anything be done?
    No.
Will anyone be held to account?
    No.
Will the taxpayer clear up the mess?
    Yes.
It's way past time that the people negotiated themselves a better deal.

The environment agency has been investigating the water companies since 2021 so 3 years with no end of investigation in sight so no one will be held to account for years if ever....while investigation is ongoing public can't get any information because environment agency says it will prejudice there investigation so we have absolutely no idea how much we are being gouged for, normally information must be released yearly but not so with ongoing investigation

"I DESERVE my £195,000 bonus because of my excellent performance running Thames Water", said CEO Chris Weston who received the bonus for his work from January to March 2024 boss of the debt-laden, scandal-hit firm. His chief financial officer, Alastair Cochran who had stepped in to be the interim CEO, also received a hefty £446,000 bonus taking his annual salary to £1.33million.

Kick the greedy private sector out of British Water and take it back into State ownership where the money charged to the public cannot be used to purchase yachts and such luxuries by it`s greedy share holders. Do not pay these criminals any more of your hard earned.

What do you expect when you increase the population and don’t make provision for the waste water the additional population make. Who wants a sewage treatment plant built near to where they live with all the additional storage capacity for the additional sewage.

My area water company were a customer of mine. Trying to sell to them was like trying to get blood from a stone. At privatisation, they went ballistic, buying and spending money like the stuff they were purifying. Ever since the bills have gone up. Because mother earth provides it.

Exactly millions of pounds in bonuses? And not enough clean water to fill my cup? Time to take the water authorities back into the British public domain? Then get rid of executives and shair holders? Recruit new managers? And put them all on performance related weekly wage? No bonuses anymore ( calld streamlining)?.
