I have no Gaelic connections or understanding of the language, but I think this is about the most beautiful melody and singing voice I have listened to. I feel exalted on listening to this magic.
Thank you for sharing this gem.

Sadness for the space left without you Ishbel. Sing with the Angels. With my deepest respect and sympathy to Ishbel's Family and Friends.

It almost breaks my heart to learn that when I've first discovered Ishbel, she has passed away.I am thankful to have her recordings to listen to,at least...rest in peace,Ishbel.I now know what a gift your voice and your singing of the old Gaelic songs truly is.

As an expat Leodhasach I consider Ishbel's rendition of my Grandad's poem to be one of my favourites.

One of the simplest and very best renditions of this beautiful song. No accompaniment required - just an incredibly beautiful and controlled voice. RIP, Iseabail - taken from us far too soon.

She was amazing - what a voice! Seeing a prog about her on the tv, she was an extra-special person as well. Rest in peace Ishbel.

I saw Ishbel sing at Peel Castle on the Isle of Man. If I remember rightly she was sat on a bench singing a capella with Norma Waterson and one other brilliant singer I forget the name of. A magical experience.

this is an incredible song sung by superlative singer.who deserves to be much better known.
ive downloaded her singing this on mp3 twice. unfortuneately in both instances the track has been taken from an LP jumps near the beginning.
can someone direct me to a better source.
