    This is a great video everything said is 💯facts, I think as more and more diasporans coming in the mindset of most Gambians will change but at the moment some are still looking at diasporans as tourists and will try to explore any opportunity. Keep up the great work 🙏🏾

    You have to be vigilant where you go, but the reason taxi drivers know where they live is because they stand out from rest of the population. I am a Gambian living in America, I do stand out even among African Americans.

    Please in black Africa it is normal for one to know you by face, name location. We are not America or Europe where neighbors could not greet or know themselves. In Africa it is abnormal for neighbors not to know know or greet each other on daily basis. Some one can even interfer with your family affair. For example spouses quarrelling. So please for a taxi driver to know your face and location is not for criminal tendency even though there are bad people. Only a good person would like to know your place. In Nigeria I may call a taxi I have used before to come pick me and if the taxi drivers says he doesn't know my location I would even term such taxi driver as not serious . Apart from that Gambia is a Small country. Even Nigeria my country that is over 200 million people I know over 50% of my neighbors and in my street and community. Please you need to detoxify your selves from your American culture, system to be able to live in Africa. Other wise you may not be able to live in Africa. You will be feeling irritated.

    As a Gambian living in the USA, I am always so happy to see the diaspora doing good in Africa. However, I feel like they should be protected especially the diaspora women by Gambians. Some might say, why only protect them and not all Gambian women? Of course all Gambian women should be protected. The difference is that these diaspora women don't know in the ins and outs of The Gambia when compared to the local women. Therefore, these diaspora women are more vulnerable than Gambian women, we should watch out for them, they are our sisters.

      Again we are not sure in the video where we stayed we isolate ourselves. We all live with our fellow Gambians in our compounds. We work with Gambians. We were only sharing as the diaspora women essential the sex tourism and how we are mistaken to be present in the land for the service . And the target women can become. Thank you so much for your comments!

    None of your perspectives made sense to me. All the answers to your questions should be applied wherever you are, even more so in the US. I'm a Jamaican living n America, and what you call as suspicious are people just being friendly. It's not them it's you, trust me. America has made African Americans bitter, angry, and extremely suspicious, which could come off as arrogant in other countries. Try to give YOUR people the benefit of the doubt.

    • @carnita523
      @carnita523 Před rokem +4

      I agree, I am America n married to a Gambian, best husband, and people are friendly. Kids still walking home from school, some places in the States, you better not allow your kids to walk home alone. Just manage your money, because you are a foreigner, look out for gold diggers just like everywhere else.

      I respect your point of view and no one is saying not to be safe everywhere. But based on your name I would conclude that you are a man. So as a woman speaking to other women coming to a beautiful country that is different from were you come from be aware. There are no street lights on every corner. Most junctions are dark it can put you unsafe situations. Please I ask that you try and hear the context that was given. Because Gambia is a beautiful place and we want all to aware.

    • @azariamakyah
      @azariamakyah Před rokem +2

      It's not about being paranoid, it's about open honest dialog. There are tons of positives and we are sharing those as well. But to not speak on areas of importance is one sided, fake, and misleading. We love Gambia, the people, and the heritage that Africa as a whole holds. But truth is truth take it, learn from it, and we can grow as greater people.

    When the locals regard African Americans as having money, you women are fighting back against that. But the same African Americans are all over the social media telling Africans how much money they have and all that. So which is which? How exactly do you want to present yourself?

    • @DMAC99999
      @DMAC99999  Před rokem +1

      Yes there have been incidents. I had one after agreeing on a price the standard town trip price once he dropped us off insisted double was to be paid because he said can afford. To trying to force himself into the compound gate. Our landlord had to come and deal with him. I have been robbed on another occasion as was my daughter and there is more.
      I had another one who tried to hit me because I would not pay him town trip for a regular passenger ride. Gambians were permitted to pay the regular rate and I had to run into the store for safety So again as the lady was stating you in the mist of enjoying being home must stay alert. American men will also tell you the same thing . They too are targets. Period ! So many stories
