    My favorite: geometry and colors at their best! Angular shapes, cubism, modern Art to wear. Bold, strong and sleek at the same time...

    Art Deco is simply THE best design period ever, in my opinion. Very classic and tailored which is what I love the most. Thank you so much for these educational videos. I enjoy them tremendously!

    Wow! I've been making some digital artworks I call Artillions or LJA (Luxury Jewelry Art) for a few years now. I consider them art deco for the homes and offices without knowing there's actually an jewelry art style called Art Deco and I see some similarities. Though I've sold none yet because I don't have the resources or connection to produce them I'm still creating more nonetheless. LoL.
    Thanks for sharing this wonderful realization.
    Keep it up.

    I absolutely love Art Deco jewelry ,I had originally wanted to go with an Art Deco style wedding band when we were looking at wedding bands ,however once I tried on eternity bands, it was a wrap lol . I fell in love with the eternity band , never thought in a million years I would have 1 to be honest but my hubby was good at surprising me with one for sure ,I literally had no clue ,I have to say though Art Deco jewelry is probably 1 of my favorite styles ,maybe down the road I will add a piece of Art Deco style jewelry ,thanks for sharing Jill ,always a pleasure

    I don’t know if it is possible to love all forms of jewelry but thats how I honestly feel. Sometimes I prefer a piece of jewelry with a lot of colorful stones and other times I like something more simple and sculptural. Your presentation of jewelry in the time of history is very interesting and something I am interested in learning about.

    Those are some amazing Art Deco pieces that you showed. Now I have to find out what on earth did hold the stones in place on the Mystery Setting Pieces.

    • @JillMaurer
      @JillMaurer  Před 5 lety

      I've seen the settings and they still puzzle me! xoxo

    • @edienahawkes3165
      @edienahawkes3165 Před 5 lety

      I looked it up on the net and discovered that the gems had a channel created on the sides of them then they were slid between two metal prongs so that they were held in place right beside each other, hiding the metalwork. I believe that Van Cleef and Arpels were the first to do this. www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&tbm=isch&q=who+first+created+invisible+settings+art+deco&chips=q:who+first+created+invisible+settings+art+deco,online_chips:mystery+setting&usg=AI4_-kQa0oImRfo4FKvypcDgZ3NXb4rjfg&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjo-siOiNPgAhUqiFQKHR4yAZEQ4lYILSgE&biw=1366&bih=654&dpr=1

    • @edienahawkes3165
      @edienahawkes3165 Před 5 lety

      The following is a better explanation of what I was trying to say :)
      Patented by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1933, the Mystery Set technique remains an emblematic example of the Maison's savoir-faire, allowing gems to be displayed with no visible mounting. Its secret lies in gold rails, onto which specially-cut precious stones - generally rubies, but also emeralds and sapphires - are positioned one by one. After many hours of recutting, they perfectly cover the jeweled surface, endowing it with a sumptuous velvety luster. Because of the level of expertise required, the Maison only produces a few pieces each year.
      Since the beginning of the 21st century, the Maison has introduced innovations that include the Navette Mystery Set - in which marquise-cut stones create a three-dimensional effect - and the Vitrail Mystery Set, which plays on the stones' transparency. With gems slotting perfectly into a golden setting that remains invisible on either side, jewelry-making expertise takes on a subtle air of mystery

    I love art deco style in jewelry, but all I see are gem encrusted earrings, bracelets and necklaces that would be lovely at high class balls or nights on the town. But what were the everyday art deco style jewelry worn by women during the Art Deco age?

    I have come across costume jewelry from the 1930's, many with nice rhinestones. Some of the earrings have a screw-in back. I actually like wearing them, they are quite beautiful! Is there any value to them, despite the fact that they aren't "real" jewelry?

  • @kayyin
    @kayyin Před 3 lety

    How do I judge whether the price an art deco bracelet is reasonable or not? I have come across something but cannot be sure it has the price it deserves...

    • @JillMaurer
      @JillMaurer  Před 3 lety

      It's always difficult to judge. One of the best ways to judge is to compare it with other things you can get at the same price or with other similar bracelets to see what price they are. It isn't an exact science because the pricing depends largely on how well the piece is made and how desirable the style is, in addition to the materials used of course. xoxo

    Very informative. I think the art deco period is too flashy.or gaudy for my taste. However, it's simply stunning..

    • @JillMaurer
      @JillMaurer  Před 5 lety

      Thanks Andrea! Hmmm we are not on the same page. It's pretty hard to be too gaudy for me. When I was younger my mother and I used to exclaim (while exaggerating our southern drawls) "Gaudy that's beautiful!" whenever we loved something that we knew was really over the top! xoxo

    Cheers for this, I have been researching "white flapper dress costume" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you ever come across - Panadarson Flapper Falbala - (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my neighbour got cool success with it.
