This is my first visit to the Royal Mint in 2023, meeting up with great friends and picking up new coins.

Saw an article on the gov website from 2021 saying they intended the windrush to be circulated - and what about the new £1 coin Rishi has organised. Somet doesn’t quite add up 🤔

yeah sounds like they will have to be released at some point, can't melt them down apparently? The tour guide also questioned how long King Charles might live and could we see King William coins in circulation alongside the Kings and the Queens coins? given that the coins are designed to last 30+ years..? 🤷🏼♂️

I was under the impression that the NHS and Windrush 50p's may get circulated? 🤷🏻♂. And yes the Alexander Graham Bell £2 was also an Innovation In Science coin. Love that Jenner SYO 😍

I was aware on most of the chat, but I do tend to agree that there is every chance the definitive set, all coins could be not struck for circulation if they have as much as that in the long store, that is an eye opener

Given the King's age, and, how long his Grandfather's coinage remained in circulation, until we went decimal..... 😯
we could see 3 monarchs portraits in circulation? give that the coins today are designed to last 30+ years..!
I don't thinks any commonwealth coins would be in storage at the Mint, if they get an order of coins outside of the Uk, they would be shipped out the relevant countries from them to store..?

Interesting about the coins in the long store. I think they should have got all the ones from the long store out before releasing other coins for circulation
The Chancellor of the Exchequer (master of the Mint) ordered the Mint to make coins to celibate the Queens life and get them into circulation ASAP! after the Queen death the Royal Mint could not mint new coins with the Queens portrait, because Charles had refused to sit for an official portrait while his mother was still alive, there was no official portrait ready to be used so one was compelled form many different photos of the new King (a rush job) I think thats all correct..? 🤣👍🏻

Very informative. I didn't buy the 50p bunc set this year. I had a feeling that it was worth holding out for the full annual set (even if it is in March as rumoured).

So is this implying that the annual sets this year will only have 5 coins and will feature 0 coins of the other denominations? That is what the marketing says for the purchase on the website. Couple this with news in the past year or two that they plan on halting production of most coins, maybe they just plan on not making any 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, coins at all this year and won't have nifc's for 22 for the 50p or 2 pound?
who knows for sure? its all in flux at the moment!
we know there are 5 commemorative coins that you can pre-order now but will the Mint releases a set for the definitive coin later this year is anyones guess..?
