The only player who played well this game was Angus Gunn, the goalkeeper. The scoreline could off and probably should off been higher against us if not for vital saves.

Steve Clarke should be getting sacked in the morning. An all or nothing game and we didn’t start playing till the 85th minute, that’s tactical. Half our team play week in, week out in the prem and we couldn’t come third in a group that had Switzerland and Hungary in it.
We have the Nations League from September to November, 6 games with Poland, Portugal and Croatia. Clarke will probably have those games. But if this run of form continues and there is no improvement come November, he will be sacked. We have won 1 game in 12 (and that was against Gibraltar), a run like that is not acceptable in international football.

Starting to sound like England fans bugging up our players and forgetting other nations have quality players aswell, the difference being there’s are in forward positions
Switzerland and Hungary are both good sides. We are decent but we don't have enough depth in our squad, especially in forward positions.
Our midfield is decent but it's that last step in the final third that's been lacking. Adams just isn't good enough. Dykes isn't exactly world class either but he is a tall target man who can hold the ball up or flick a header on and we missed that. Shankland should have been given more of an opportunity, especially in the Switzerland game which we needed to try and win. We are not miles behind these teams, as shown in our performances against Spain and Norway in qualifying but it's just certain areas of the pitch that let us down and when you struggle to score goals it will hurt you at the highest level.
Both teams had chances at the end of the match, the difference was we missed ours and they scored in the last seconds 👍🏼
I'm SO glad that Armstrong incident wasn't given as a penalty. I'm sick to death of attacking players making no attempt to play the ball, not even being in possession of the ball, not even being the last player to have touched the ball, extending a leg across the defender's path thus making a collision inevitable and then claiming a penalty. If anything it was obstruction by Armstrong as he fulfilled all of those conditions I mention above. He hadn't touched the ball last, he certainly didn't have the ball under his control and he did stretch out his left leg in order to cause the collision with the defender. If such penalties are given, it's the end of defending. God knows I've seen enough being given over the last ten years to become thoroughly hacked off by the inability of domestic referees to spot the con. At last an international referee has shown the standard that all domestic ones should aspire to.

It's a no brainer that Shankland should always start as our main striker and his performance showed it tonight. The fact he scored 31 goals for Hearts just speaks volumes because ,with all due respect, he doesn't get as good a service from Hearts than Adams does from Southampton. Shankland held up the ball well, he passed the ball brilliantly and his positioning was terrific, Che Adams did practically nothing and let the Hungarians have two free kicks in dangerous positions.
As a hearts fan I’m glad he didn’t play much would rather have him fit for the start of the season, than chance him being injured because he’s played a couple of games in a team that’s only there to make the numbers up
Unfortunately, Adams plays at a higher level and is 4 times more valuable. Only reason he plays ahead of Shankland. That's how Clark pics his teams.

Steve Clarke was too cautious tonight. He should have told his players to get an early goal…flood men into the box and whip constant crosses in. Hungary showed in the previous games that they will make mistakes and errors at the back. There no pressure in that Hungary goal. Not good enough.

I was at the game tonight, I never really believed. We have been laboured and generally quite poor since October. It was a cruel way for it to end, it’s always cruel but the Tartan Army deserves better and we should demand better.
Same old, same old. Only a Scot could blindly love the stodgy, unenlightened Scottish brand of football. It’s a kind of disastrous anti-football. I gave up on it in about 1985. The trouble with Scottish football is a problem it has had for decades: lack of emphasis on technique. Too often, too many Scottish players look distinctly uncomfortable on the ball, when surely that’s the first duty of _any_ footballer. While almost every other footballing country I can think of emphasises technique over anything else (even the small ones - look at Croatia, a country of 3 million vs Scotland’s 5, yet they consistently produce world class technicians) and produces players who can actually put a foot on the ball and pick a pass, Scottish football remains in the dark ages in this regard. Until Scotland puts basic technique before anything else, it will continue to be crap and not worth watching.

What you said is completely true Scottish football is more physical than technical, all the top countries in Europe and South America have technical teams and individuals.
As well as that Grassroots and facilities need serious investment, the facilities aren’t there if you want to improve as a footballing nation and produce more talent.
We are terrible. I myself was a terrible football player. Too gangly, no pace, shat myself when I was on the ball. No vision. And yet I loved doing keepy uppies and tricks. And I would practice them for hours on my own in the back garden. And I was good at them. If I had managed to ally what I was good at with a coach who could help me with what I was terrible at then I think I could have been a very good "technical" player. But this was the 80's and basically football was all about the strongest guy who could run through the opposition or batter them to f.
Lack of facilities, lack of cash input, lack of government backing, lack of sunshine , lack proper diet, lack of mental fortitude, lack of physical stamina ! ad nauseam
All banter aside, I feel sorry for the Scottish fans. They were obviously not expecting to win the whole tournament but at least go on the pitch and give it a real go in an attacking sense.
Hearing flower of Scotland followed by that performance shows how badly the fans were let down by their players and especially by their manager
Reality check for Scottish football. You don't produce the quality of players that can go deep into a tournament and you haven't done so for decades. Passionate fans in the stands don't mitigate for a lack of real talent on the field.
You seen a penalty given for Croatia for absolutely nothing and they didn’t even check for this! A positive though, most of the team looked Scots. If You are going to play as a country it's no use having a team that looks like every other team, they've mostly got to look like the supporters. Only a few countries achieve this.
I'm quite happy with teams of all sorts of mixed but if you are going to have international football or sport, a dreary thing at best, the participants really do need to look French or German or Dutch or Hungarian etc.
In the Netherlands v France match there were only three white players in the starting line-up of each team.

First of all, I’ll make the point that Steve Clarke has got us to 2 back to back major tournaments and he has my full credit but I think now is the time for change and for him to step down, he’s simply taken this group of players as far as he can. These games against Hungary and the Swiss weren’t going to be easy but games we were capable of winning and sadly when you set up both games not to lose instead of trying to win your not going to go very far, that’s the major downfall here. I know this system got us here and we qualified but we’re no going to go any further and progress as a nation if we keep doing the same things over and over again, these 3 games have shown us that we haven’t really learned anything from the last Euros, we have decent players in this squad but I just think they aren’t utilised in the right way by being overly defensive, it’s time for change and a new sense of direction if we’re ever going to go any further

Obvious, slow, no quality. Very very poor performance. Few good chances and wrong choices every time. Penalty call was ludicrous but overall so poor. Be a ton of international managers getting p45s imminently
So the only positive I can get from this game is Angus Gunn, the goalkeeper, put in a great performance. He was the best Scotland player on the night and the scoreline probably would off been a lot worse if not for some vital saves.
That is where the positives end. That performance was abysmal, and most frustratingly of all, unsurprising. We have won one game in 12 matches (and that one was against Gibraltar a team which most other teams beat easily, while we scraped a 2-0 win). We qualified fairly well but since qualification something has gone horribly wrong with Scotland, a massive drop in form has occurred and it was not fixed in time for the tournament.
Clarke has the Nations League in September-November but if there isn't a turnaround in form, he will face calls to be sacked. You can't go on a run like this in international football.

How can a pundit see a defenders knee hitting the back of the attackers leg but completely miss the attacker stopping, changing direction and jumping into the defender to initiate contact.
Exactly.......Scottish player ignored the ball completely, literally hopped into the path of the defender and collapsed like a bag of the proverbial. If he had shown half the effort to actually cross the ball as he did to simulate the foul the game might have turned out differently. Referee saw it for precisely what it was, a desperate attempt to "win a penalty" and correctly said no. Still there is some good news for Scottish fans ......they have probably got 26 years to save up for their next major tournament 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

they went out last game. The board had just gone up for 4 minutes added on, and Clark made two substitutes. It was one all. The two subs ambled off, pulling up their socks, slapping hands with teammates. I couldn't believe my eyes. They went out right there. No ambition, no success.
Adams was a total liability. Did nothing up front, gave away free kicks in really dangerous positions. Shankland looked far more likely to score.
And shanklands actually a Scots man too. 🤔

A total embarrassment yet again. First 10 minutes consisted of them passing the ball between the back players, with the rest of the team standing around watching them.

We have no creativity or speed of thought in the last third. Hungary knew this and blocked us easily. We huffed and we puffed but couldn't blow the house down. I don't want to blame our players. It is what it is and they tried their best. But on a more salient point. How many overweight guys are sitting raging tonight on their sofas while their overweight kids were in their bedrooms playing Fortnite and couldn't give a f about football? Lets be honest we have probably been the worst team in the tournament, never even scored a goal, the goal against the Swiss was a og, couldn't believe they gave it to McTominay. The performance against the Germans was one of the worst in recent memory. Tonight was dismal, have a go for the last fifteen minutes in a must win game ? I have a suspicion this Scotland camp is not as harmonious as it has been previously, maybe wrong in that, but something has seemed off with a lot of the players, even Robertson who is a right good player has been poor.
Scotland deserves to be out we never played well in any of the games, we looked like a different team from qualifying. I feel like we bottled it. 2 own goals was all we could muster it’s a shame we never showed more fight!

I’ve been watching Scotland play for decades and their problem as far as I can see is that they don’t play football with enjoyment flair or confidence, most matches they play with fear as if they are going into battle. I think it’s deep rooted and stems from the Scottish psyche as a nation and a people. They say all football nations play in a way that reflects their nation.
