The original by Simon and Garfunkel was a whispered warning of what's to come. This version is the scream of rage because we didn't listen.

Paul Simon has also publicly endorsed and promoted this cover... I don't think he has done that for any other one, and there are a lot of covers of this song.
I have seen Disturbed in Concert 6 or 7 times which included the very first year they toured when "Down with the Sickness" first was released and last show I saw was their 25th year touring. And David Draiman sounds EXACTLY like he does on their music that they record as he does live and the are not many artists that sound just as good in concert as they do on the music they created that we purchase! He's amazing, his voice can be really big when he wants it to be but he has so much control over his voice and singing.
For anyone that likes Disturbed and hasn't seen them live, if they come around touring again, I highly recommend them! The only other band I've seen in concert more is Tool!

David Draiman...amazing range and control...a powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to rasp/distortion/vocal fry and back on a dime, which is incredibly difficult to do . He is so unique as he actually puts vibrato on his distortion!....also VERY difficult to do...one of the best male vocalists on the planet imho. Loved your reaction !
Disturbed made this Great, note the near 1 billion views on this video alone! Add the live versions on the Conan Show, and the duet with Miles Kennedy and it has gone over 1B.

Good recommendations. I was going to say the same ones. One note: for Inside the Fire use the edited video version because the original video has VERY GRAPHIC images of suicide.

You are right he really makes you feel the pain. This is my favorite version. I also like the Pentatonix's version. Sort of like the difference between Chicago and NY style pizzas, Both are good in their own ways.

You actually have reacted to this band quite a while back (The Vengeful One). The lead singer to this band is amazing. I would say for new stuff check out "Hold On To The Memories", for older songs check out "Stupify", or their classic "Down With The Sickness".

Whether or not you believe in spirit guides, I recently discovered that I am blessed to have some and decided to start listening to them. They actually led me to Disturbed and David Draiman on CZcams and their cover B&W 4K video rendition of Simon and Garfunkels The Sound of Silence. My spirit guides are screaming at me to tell all of you that if we lose our Democracy we will lose our freedom to listen to the music of our choice like Disturbed! If THEY can ban our books, THEY can ban/outlaw our music 🎶! Love you all, Diane ❤

Pentatonics is good at what they do. They just do not have the strength to do this song justice. The depth that David has in his voice just blows me away. He was trained as a cantor in his church, and that is where he gets the control he has. He gives me goosebumps every single time i hear him sing this song.

Pentatonix are on a par with Taylor Swift, they both leave me totally cold wondering why people rave about them. I generally like harmony groups but these guys don't do a thing for me. On the other hand, Disturbed has skill and passion.
In my opinion Pentatonix is like a novelty act you would find on a cruise ship. It takes five of them to reach the range that David Draiman did by himself.
