    Thanks again, Yong! I wonder: could one get by using the old table salt trick instead of splattering with the toothbrush?

    When you are applying your second layer of your pear's casted shadow, do you rewet the entire shadowed area or do you do it as a wet on dry technique?? Secondly, when you spatter the paint on with the toothbrush, is your painting completely dry??

    • @YongChen
      @YongChen  Před 7 lety +7

      Hi Gwenneth, when I applied color to the cast shadow the area was dry, and the cast-shadow was finished with one round. Though sometimes I wet the area before I paint the cast shadow but I didn't do that in this lesson. For your second question, when I started splashing for the skin texture with toothbrush, the painting was completely dry. Let me know if you have other questions.

    I love your tutorials! I keep having a problem with my paper pilling up - fibers coming off paper and pigment with it. Once it starts, touching it makes it worse. any recommendations? I am using 140# paper and not wetting the paper before applying the paint. Thank you!

    Do those Winsor Newton sables like you use (not the series 7 but Artist's series) hold up well over time if you take care of them? I have some DaVinci kolinsky sables, but the price for the WN Artist's series kolinsky is VERY attractive! I always enjoy your videos.

    • @YongChen
      @YongChen  Před 7 lety

      Yes, I have been used Winsor Newton brushes for years. They work fine for me. Thanks.
