the self confidence hype up we all need. 2020.

- how to love yourself, exactly as you are. because in a world that profits off your insecurities, in a world where palatable, quiet womxn are easier and softer than those who are opinionated, the biggest rebellion is to love yourself and be confident.
self confidence checklist:
- CATCH yourself having negative thoughts. they're not helping you. stop self sabotaging and replace them with positive affirmations.
- stop apologising. catch yourself softening your competency in emails.
- own and love your body. you're frickin' incredible. i don't need to see you to KNOW that.
Important note: Though the confidence gap is a thing, I fully appreciate that guys need confidence boosts too!! Toxic masculinity sucks for everyone. This is not a womxn-only issue. Speaking to my experience and articles I've read, this video frames it to a more female context, but my intention is not to alienate. I would love to explore this in another video.
wow, this video was fun.
self love, hype up, how to stop people pleasing and be more self confident as a teenager.
oh also, i know i say women and men in this video. it is not my intention to be exclusionary to non-binary individuals, hence my use of "womxn" to centre non-men.

Wow...that quote!
"don't take criticism from someone you wouldn't take advice from". this changed my life so i thought i'd share :)
THIS?? CHANGES THE GAME
@@lavan6298 i know right? i'm overall a lot happier since reading that & it makes life so much easier lol
But I believe that there is something good in each person so technically I want to take advice from everyone. As they experienced things I didn’t or saw things I didn’t
@@coupetsophie2230 well yes but would you take advice from someone who hasn't proven themselves to be trustworthy? if someone you don't know/don't like tells you what you should do with your life, would you follow that advice blindly? i interpreted it as "why would you taje criticism from someone you know you would never take advice from". that's my take on it at least. everyone is different :)
Could I maybe add that constructive criticism should be taken from everyone, given that it's objective and has no bad underlying intentions? On the other hand, unrequested advice and hatred should not? Because I believe not everyone is oir to get you, so take the constructive (!!!) criticism and ignore the bashful comments and alike!
Back when I was 16, my English teacher at the time told us he wouldn't accept any "I think's" and "in my opinion's" in any of our essays. He said that if we wanted people to take seriously what we said, we also had to take ourselves seriously. Best piece of advice someone has ever given me
True!!
What should we use then, instead of I think and in my opinion?
@@SnowWhite-ul6qb just present things as facts. Show you got your conclusions via conductive thinking, and that there's not really a reason to doubt you. Things like "this leads to" or "this relates to". You still may be wrong, but I find believing in what I'm writing makes me more confident
@@mistym8271 in this case I'm talking about an essay, where you're presenting data, reflecting on it, and getting conclusions along with the reader. Essays and news aren't the same kind of text, since essays tend to help the reader reflect on the subject at hand. An essay is an entire debate along with an invisible person, whereas news is just you putting stuff out there without justifying anything. Also, I'm not from the us but I have my fair amount of experience with fake news, and the fact that I know I can bullshit my way through a piece of writing reminds me that everyone else could do it too. The key is to contrast the information with different sources and read between the lines. But as I've said, I was talking about essays, and while I know there's a line between opinion and fact, I also know that I don't trust an essay that ends with "I think my conclusions on this subject are these", because it feels like you haven't really put the effort on this thing you're writing an entire paper on
(Hope I didn't sound to aggressive hehe)
english teachers do tend to be inspirational :)
Once I get her confidence its all over for my depression and anxiety.
I know this is jokingly said, but I've been there, so in case jg helps . Try the other way around. When you get help for your depression, your anxiety may become more manageable. When you learn to control your anxiety, your confidence will get better. People are not paying such close attention to you, which is both hurtful, and liberating. They might not notice what you are stressing about, and if they do they likely not care about it in the same way. Therapy works, if both you and the therapist do. When possible, open up about how you feel, and ask if someone will support you.
@@emiv592 thanks, i know this phrase is used as a joke but i do have severe anxiety and i am yet to be diagnosed as depressed but i do show signs of depression. A lot of people try to tell me to be brave and bold but the people that tell me that are free and confident. I've never been offered help or support by anyone thats suffering like me before this comment means a lot to me thank you. I've been trying to boost my confidence for a few months now your suggestions are helpful.
@@mazelawilson5550 I'm at the same boat, and what's been helping me is therapy, I highly recommend doing an online therapy, especially if you're an extrovert like me ;u; also, don't forget to get that dose of serotonin, hug your dog, cat, or pet, if you don't have one, go out in the sun, dance, see cute videos of animals, laugh, talk to your friends, and if anxiety is too intense and is making you panick think about small things that make you feel good, like a fresh morning breeze, like the smell of fresh baked cake, the sound of the rain.. write it down if you need to! Sit on the ground, with your eyes closed and mentally list five things you can hear, 4 things you can feel 3 smells you can sniff and lastly, make two deep belly breath, in trough your mouth and out trough your mouth This helps a lot with anxiety 💜💜 do not forget, your brain and your heart needs a little love and attention!
Im so sorry that you are feeling like this, please know that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! it will get better! I write my feelings down in a book and it helps me so much to identify why I'm feeling the way i do and what i can do to feel better. I also finding walking and just dancing so liberating and freeing! if you have anywhere you can go to just dance and let loose it might help. aswell just try and surround your self with positive things and for every worry flip it into why you are thankful for it. eg feeling anxious about going to school instead flip it and think im so grateful for this worry cos it means that i have access to an education and the opportunity to learn so many things. good luck you can do it ! xxx

One day I looked in the mirror and decided: "I am made of things - genetics, culture, and values - older than these beauty standards." And that was the moment that changed my life.
I know that for many people this is far from enough to overcome the deep-seated insecurities modern society has groomed in us, but I just want to throw this thought out into the world if it can help some other girl: Beauty standards/what are fashionable/what are appealing to others are all going to pass in a few years' time, maybe less. But how you look is the result of the combination of the DNA of millennia of ancestors who loved their looks, loved their culture and loved each other. Who you are is the result of your experiences and your history that are both SO MUCH more real than the fake standards corporations peddle to make you buy stuff. Love you xx And thank you Jade for your videos, as always.
This is such a great thing to tell yourself!

There is SO much we can achieve, and yet there's such a disproportionate emphasis on appearance above all. I think women are so beautiful, but beauty is not and should not be the measure of their value.

As a MALE I can say that men struggle with this too. Especially gay men (like me). Gender expression is on a spectrum and both men and women can have these people-pleasing/palatable tendencies bc they can both be feminine.
This video has literally helped me so much you don’t even know. I’ve been experiencing so much confusion in my masculinity bc even though I’m a guy, I often view masc men as a different sex to me that I can’t relate to. And I think this is why, I’ve been so heavily identifying with femininity that I’ve subconsciously taken on some of the insecurities that can society can imbed in it.
Thank you Jade omg.
100% agree with youuuu
yes so its still because of misogyny
Verity Britcliffe what do you mean? I don’t understand.please explain
@@coolcraker123 Not sure what Verity Britcliffe means. However, while some men can experience the situation described by Jade it is still primarily experienced by womxn because of how we are raised and socialized. Being told to be a "good girl" is a global issue and being socially reprimanded whenever we show signs of being confident, direct, and managerial (bossy) is also a global issue. As a result, your experience of people-pleasing is likely entirely different from how a girl experiences growing up a people pleaser. For example, you can behave in a confident manner yet never be called "bossy". You'll also not be looked down upon for being confident or speaking bluntly. The social perception of self-assured women tends to be negative. So in the end, the issue as mentioned by Jade is quite misogynistic in nature.
M Wolfe yes that makes sense
sip your tea with the "expensive energy of self-love" I love that omg
I think that the pandemic quarantine has really revealed to me how much I dedicate every way I express myself to pleasing other people, to being palatable as you say and refusing to say anything that doesn't align with what has already been said to protect myself from any criticism or opposition where I would immediately back down and agree. Shrinking into an image of a quiet/reserved girl where I resided in comfort, unchallenged and easy to manipulate into public agreement where I would be privately silencing my own views/opinions and negating the validity of them. However, I have been prompted to reconsider who this serves - because it is not me - after reading several of Renée Kapuku's articles and emails -> Especially the one entitled "Not Everyone Will Like You - Get Over It' which really targets this people-pleasing tendency head-on : ).
In terms of venturing into the unknown territory or 'hyping myself up' but proceeding in the name of "fake it till ya make it" - I am blossoming every day into someone I love and will continue to love regardless of my inevitable mistakes and missteps because if I am not learning, I am not growing into myself. I am gentle and independent. My life is meaningful and worthwhile living for myself and not just for others.
Thank you Jade :)
Love your outfit, that lavender shade is stunning on you! You’re not cocky or pretentious, you’re refreshing and sweet ☺️
I've been told that I can be intimidating and unapproachable, and that I don't smile enough. People tell me to "make an effort to look approachable" or "smile so that you don't look angry" so that guys will feel comfortable enough to talk to me. Every time people say that, I say that I'm not going to change who I am to make some guy comfortable. If he's intimidated by me, that's his problem, not mine.
But from this video, I've realized how much I soften myself in order to not seem disagreeable or cold. I've realized how much I try to make myself palatable. Even though I hate when people tell me to change myself to be less intimidating, I see how much I've internalized that mentality, and how much I try to soften myself. I'm really going to try to stop doing that, and just be who I am - the less soft and easy version of myself that I wish I could be. I owe it to myself to be myself. Thanks for this video :)
“In a society that profits off your insecurities, loving yourself is a rebellious act.” - Jade.
i love love LOVE this. we need more of this sophisticated herbal tea sipping energy in our lives!!
I remember when in primary school I thought there were two paths to success in life: to be smart or to be pretty. And no boy ever expressed any interest in me so I was clearly not pretty. So I just decided I would never seek romantic validation, forbade myself from having crushes and pursuing them because no one would want me anyway, and thought of myself as this meek, boring, PALATABLE nerdy girl. and guess what that became reality!
Only recently have I tried to be more assertive and proactive and guess what, I’m having an amazing time and building my confidence. It’s never too late people, even if you wasted your teenage years on berating yourself, you can still get on the path to self love!! ❤️❤️
sis I had the same experience in primary school. Boys would ask me out as a joke and so I haven't let myself have a crush in a long time
This hit me right in the feels, I still do that to this day and I’m nearly 19. Thank you for making me realise that!💜
Oh my goodness, Jade. What even are you. Can I just take a moment to say, how much of a positive impact you have on me, and on so many girls. What you said, is EXACTLY what we all need to hear, and to know, and to do. You are amazing. You inspire me everyday, and I feel like CZcams and basically every other social media has also impacted many girls, where they unconsciously start to compare themselves with the ‘perfect’ ‘successful’ ‘pretty’ girls and think, that they are not enough. They want to look like her, to be her, sometimes without even knowing the person personally. And the fact that you’re using such platform as CZcams and Instagram to spread this important message just gives me so much hope. You probably don’t even know just HOW much you HELP. I can’t think of anyone else who would say this out load, for many people to hear, just as it should be said. I really just want to thank you, on behalf of hundreds of other insecure girls, who will stop it, and finally love themselves the way they should, because of YOU. Thank you ❤️

I love how you're not trying to portray yourself as perfect to convince others that they can change, you showed yourself as who you used, to be, who you've become and who you aspire to be and that's the most perfect example you could give. Thank you😊
oh now THIS is the self hype and energy im going to keep in my life always
yes Jade! A FEMINIST ICON bringing us all the political content we need and love ❤️
I still don't understand why my confidence has something to do with politics. It is so sad. Equality should be the norm, not a political issue.
@@inerys6133 I agree equality should be a norm and not something we'll still fighting for in 2020 but unfortunately the world we live in means we are subconsciously being trained to think in a certain way. However, power comes when we ourselves can push back against the stereotypes and cultural norms surrounding us to value ourselves for who we are. If everyone in the world did this, the harmful pressures of an unequal society would simply be unable to thrive and grow as they do now. (obviously there's more to be done on a worldwide legislative scale but I think it's all too easy to forget about small scale changes we can make, starting with ourselves) ❤️
@@ImogenWhite This gives me hope! Thank you 🥰 We can all play our part and driving small changes all over the world
Yassss we love feminist queens
Yesss!!!! This was a lovely reminder. My hype: I’m successful, kind, generous, resilient, and independent. All the people who are seeing this: you are amazing and keep doing you! 🤟🏽
Jeca Salimbangon in my opinion, all the animates, not only the humans but also animals are the creators. We all are amazing wonderful mesmerizing strong. Let’s change the game with kindness with everyone
(please like so jade sees)
Hi unjaded jade! I'm chelsea and my sister is your biggest fan
I honestly don't know where to begin but I'll start by saying my sister absolutely LOVES you. She has watched every single one of your videos (at least two times) and because of you, she has not only passed her GCSEs, but have gotten remarkable scores ✨ there are endless reasons why she adores you that I can't possibly list them all
Anyways, her birthday is August 22 and since this is the last birthday I get to celebrate with her before she goes to uni🥺, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to call her on her birthday and have a short conversation or even just send a short video of you saying happy birthday to her.
If you are reading this, thank you for your time and I hope you and your family are staying safe! ❤️
something you don’t see often: a comment section without one person commenting something negative about themself
For someone who struggled with their self-image and eating disorders all throughout her teenager life, this video may be the start for me to learn how to accept myself. I'm sorry if I'm rambling here but I'm still catching myself tearing myself down to hype other people up or to make them feel better. I am a people pleaser by heart and it's so incredibly hard to get out of this thought pattern, because it is ingrained into my brain so much, it just became a habit.
Thank you for this video, it really helps to know that I am not alone with this and that they is a way out.
Much love to everyone reading this, you deserve it
you can do it, I believe in you!❤️
Thank you for saying I deserve love, just wanted to tell you you deserve it as well! ♥️
@@blueberrymuffin113 thank you so much, that's really kind :3
i have always hated myself- my body, personality, face, opinions etc.
i was talking to my mum the other day and she said I used to be so loud, happy and radiant and used to speak my opinion whatever and was proud to be me, but i changed and became a shell of who I was. i locked myself in my room to study, didn't speak my mind, stopped posting on social media and lost a lot of weight. I'm trying so hard now to become myself again. yes I will still study hard and be a perfectionist my whole life because thats who I am. but I'm also starting to meet up with friends, I've started posting on Instagram and speaking my mind about my passions on my stories. I don't love my body and I know I don't treat it right but its hard when you don't believe you deserve love.
thank you jade I see mysemf in you and I hope I can become such an amazing and happy person! ♡♡
erin don’t die before the death! You are amazing, beautiful, cute. Always think you are the best! Yes I know you are powerful, strong. Let’s do it! Let’s change the game! Dear
Imagine looking at people and only see the negative. Sad life honestly
I am living for this level of confidence! In a world where companies push forward constant ways to change yourself (for profit purposes only), simply be yourself! Jade, you're a ray of sunshine.
The thumbnail gives me Kelly Stamps energy!
stampede!
Yessss
I said yhe same thing
Literally had to pause the video and just sit like 'oh snap. Oh SNAP.'
ok some things i like about myself :)
1. my eyes, even though they seem boring brown from afar, from up close i think they're gorgeous
2. my arm muscles; i love my big biceps + triceps lmao
3. im a very trustworthy and honest person, im an extremely loyal person; i think im a great friend
4. IM A BADASS QUEEN 💅🏽😈
my eyebrows are amazing and im a badass bitch. ✨ im a gay queen and im THRIVING ♥︎ i have awful thoughts but they will never get the better of me because im stronger and above them 💗
YESSS
GET ITTT! YOU ARE AMAZING!!! 💕👏✨
Oh Jade, you have no idea how much I needed this. I was just judging myself for not matching the conventional standards of beauty and I was scared that I’m gonna be ignored, judged, unheard and unseen. And yes, self confidence, they label you as loud, speaks too much because you.... as a girl... speak. I had begun to “soften” myself up to match these standards of femininity but not anymore. What matters most to me, is to stay true and authentic to myself and voice my opinions on what I THINK is correct . I love you so much, you queen 🥺🥺🥺💓💓
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 For Jade and everybody else who has been struggling lately. I see you, I hear you, you deserve unconditional love n happiness :) 🥺🥺💓💓
jade i just want to say...your outfit and this style is so different and IT REALLY SUITS YOU ♥️♥️♥️
princess energy only 😌 thank you!!
I was really feeling low and insecure, but I remembered this video, watched it again all the way through, and cried it out. Thank you so so much Jade, I really needed a confidence boost to study for my finals tomorrow
I’m literally crying, I relate so much to this. Thank you for reminding how amazing I am and how far I’ve come and how far I’ll go💞💞💞
Jade, you make me feel like there’s a whole exciting world waiting for me and all I need to do is to face the world in a positive way ! You ‘re so optimistic and blooming like a sunflower !
Awww oh my god ! I didn’t expect the heart from you , you’re so kinddd , Jadeee
Could you please tell me a tip on how I can get closer with my sister ?
Abigail Hassan Communicate with your sister how you’re feeling. “Hey, I’d love to have some bonding time with you, can we schedule some time together this week?”
Ewan Nolan thank you for your advice ! I’ll try that soon !
You know the most important thing I think I learned from this is that *your mind is your greatest enemy*
There's this Ted Talk about education (rlly popular) where they say: "in the system we live in, children grow up scared of being wrong (which is unhealthy and makes everyone unhappy)"
Thought it applied to this video. Really enjoyed it.
(and omg she's so cute)
I just truly want to thank you for this video!! This just made me realize how much I try to please people and most of all how i try to invest time in things which don’t even matter to me to impress someone I don’t even know and won’t even see again... also the part where you mention how big brands profit from ones insecurities... wonderful, true and something which everyone should honestly know and implement too! Our world is so materialistic and superficial it’s really a pleasure listening to you and “cleansing” toxicity in exchange for these strong powerful Words!!
🙏🏼
I NEEDED THIS wow I broke up with my bf of a year and a half a few days ago because the relationship was compromising my ability to focus of myself and my future, but my people pleaser self now feels like a villain. It's okay to be selfish! Thank you jade ❤
You listened to your gut and that is enough. So. proud. of. you. ❤️
I love the quote by Claire shipment, I'm a male and I hate when women are treated less... Their voices deserves to be heard too... You look great Jade ❤
this energy and advice is PRICELESS
My dad would always tell me not to be so people pleasing but I never believed that I was subconsciously trying to please other people because all I wanted was to make friends and for the bullying to fucking stop. But recently I realized how much energy I put into being likeable and I was doing it subconsciously. I even thought twice about this comment because I didn't want to be annoying.
Jade’s like your best friend that you always needed
Hi Jade, I just wanted to say thank you so much for spreading so much positivity and self love :) your videos have honestly kept me from going insane in lockdown haha
thank you so much for making this video. i didn't know that i needed it, and i watched it for the first time a few days ago, but i haven't been able to stop thinking about it since and i know that it's changing my life.
this is the first video by you i have ever seen and it brought be so much joy and inspiration i have no idea how to explain it to you. the effect this had on me? insane. thank you. truly.
OH LOOK, IT'S JADE AGAIN!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH GIRLL, YOU HAVE ALREADY CONQUERED THE WORLD
Honestly, I felt like I was facetiming her. So genuine.
It's easy to love urself when u look as pretty as that😭💖
Jade i just want to say I love you and thank you for continuously being so inspirational, raw, real and powerful!
*“sip your herbal tea with the expensive energy of self-love, that’s enough”* ✨ I will remember this forever 💕 ugh I wish I could like this video a BILLION times 🥰
*jade!!! best timing ever and thanks a lot!*
I can't honestly put into words how much i appreciate this. This video came at the RIGHT time.
Every now and then when I don't really believe in myself i rewatch this and keep better about myself
I’m so freakin beautiful and talented, I love my body and how I look, I’m going to slayy my academic life, and I’m going to make my dreams come trueee! 💗 I’m unapologetically a rebel 😌✨
I’m literally such a people pleaser that someone could tell me that my name isn’t Emily, I wouldn’t even argue it for more than 2 minutes and give in. If someone told me 2+2=5, I would say, no it’s 4, you idiot, but if they were to reinforce that it was 5 for a few minutes, i would agree and continue my day knowing they are wrong but not wanting to argue in case i am wrong.
😭😭 why can i relate. WE ARE COMPETENT!! Your name is Emily. 2+2 is not 5.
@Helena Mustang So is Helena
Susan - So is Susan. :)
Jacket Potato so is Jacket Potato 😊😂
@@katiem8868 😂😂 and so is Katie!
I love this attitude. First I watch your older videos to motivate me to learn and get better grades and then I watch your current videos to accept myself and to enjoy every moment of life and not just live for school~~ love that upgrade jade
omg im so touched by this video that i almost cried, thanku so much for the positivity, this might be a life changing one for me😭💜
Who can hate an ICON like her!!
You are such a positive person and a beautiful soul🥺♥️ love ya jade💗
I'm so so proud of what I've managed to do with my channel in the past 10 or so weeks (woah jade this feels so weird to type) I'm telling myself now in these PubLic comments eek I'm smashing it (ahh but this just feels so unnatural) I'm so nervous to post this but here goes -
Imogen, I need to commend you. You are consistently posting truly supportive, helpful and engaged comments on so many creators' channels. You're not pushy about self-promotion, and for that reason I've really noticed you in a positive light. Keep creating! Your channel is brilliant and gives value. ❤️ YOU'VE GOT THIS
Imogen White You deserve it!! I discovered you channel through a comment in Vee’s video a few weeks ago and immediately subscribed because your videos are amazing and I’m sure you’re going to continue to do great on CZcams!!! :)
I love your channel Imogen!! I found you in the comments of one of Jade's videos actually, and your content is amazing!
UnJaded Jade thank you so much Jade that honestly means so much!! I’ve watched CZcams for years but never really commented but since starting my own channel I’ve realised the value and impact a lovely comment makes to me after spending ages on a video and want to share that positivity with my favourite creators!!
David Calleja thank you so much David!! I really do appreciate your support and can I just say I am loving your channel so far too!!
The energy, THE POWER in this video was just *chefs kiss*
