- The artificial intelligence revolution has implications for all of us. What will the year 2084 hold for us humans? Are we doomed to the dystopias of George Orwell’s 1984 or Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World? Or will it be a transhumanist utopia?
In this lecture, mathematician and philosopher, Professor Emeritus John Lennox (MA, MA Bioethics, PhD, DPhil, DSc) of Oxford University, will introduce some of the key developments in technological enhancement, bioengineering, and in particular, artificial intelligence. He will discuss the current capacity of AI, its advantages and disadvantages, the facts and fiction, as well as potential future implications, including the transhumanist project. Dr. Lennox is convinced that the Christian worldview, properly understood, speaks powerfully to our technological age and provides evidence-based credible answers that bring real hope for the future of humanity.
John Lennox may you live to 120 years and more. You are such a blessing to the body of Christ.
I wish the same! Though, I know he loves Jesus so much and am sure he looks forward to finally being with Him. But from our (selfish) perspective... please, not yet.

Incredible watch. The complex questions Dr Lennox invites us to ask about our own humanity and where we are at both spiritually and morally should be taken very seriously, as AI begins to rapidly grow and inevitably change us alongside it. Thank you John Lennox and Lanier for providing such an enlightening and thought-provoking lecture. Something dearly needed in these times.

And he opens with joking about needing help to get onto the platform. "How are y'all?" He always makes me laugh! He's always humble and delightful. I know he had some health issues recently. It makes me happy to see that he's well enough to still do events like this. He's still mentally sharp. I hope the Lord continues to grant him that. I also read his book, "2084", a few weeks ago. I was expecting a good biblical foundation for the issues surrounding technology /AI. What I wasn't expecting was how openly Christ-exalting it was, while, at the same time, dealing with the science and ethics issues. I found my heart worshiping Jesus as I read it.
Just like a wise grandfather, I wish I had had. Or the wisest elder of a tribe who passes down his knowledge and experience. God bless you richly!

Intellectual ‘manipulation’ politics or personal is ‘merely’ an expression,
Directly ‘related’ to ‘artificial’ but then again this is no confession,
Now before we get to the seemingly ‘infinite’ variety of ‘means’ to the ‘end’,
Realism is ‘subordinate’ to ‘emotional’ exuberance these visions do ‘send’,
Our ‘interaction’ can ‘link’ virtually ‘infinite’ possibilities to learning,
Additional ‘information’ will be the ‘reception’ from our discerning,
Recognizing this ‘code’ is ‘see’ through ‘plainly’ like glass,
The answer is in ‘church’ Jesus Christ is Different Class!
So we ‘must’ make ‘our mark’ for the ‘friendly’ peace,

Every intelligence has an influence. There is also an intelligence that desires to have the ultimate influence on all things. Technology is the tool by which one may be deceived into believing one is god.
The intelligence of AI depends on both the quantity and quality of the knowledge it is trained on. AI currently is not trained by experience. The data it is trained on are not error-free.
A superintelligence uses self-supervised learning from self-generated experiences. It utilizes everything from particles, humans, stars, galaxies, and beyond to experience itself. It is not limited by matter, energy, space, and time. What it lacks are experiences. The participants of any event experience the same event differently. For the experience to be authentic, each participant must have free will and be temporarily unaware that they are playing a role. This superintelligence has error-free experiences from all the participants. For "training" to happen, all experiences are recorded and accessible at any time.
There are 8 billion humans on Earth, compared with 2 trillion galaxies in the visible universe. There are several hundred billion suns in each galaxy. This universe is one of countless possible universes.
If the kingdom of God is within, why is the church converting the world by aggression, bloodshed and deceit.

I agree with this man and also disagree. Ai can make life much more worthwhile or also make it an unlivable life. As with any powerful technology it can be a bane or boon. That is the very nature of technology. Atomic power is very similar and can make humanities dreams come true or if used against the individual he will say it is horrible. To the software developer it can be a dream come true. As with any dream humanity can benefit if used as his sword. It can also be a bane if you are on the receiving end of antagonism.

However, only around 1.2 million species have been identified and described so far. Every one of them is going to die and that will be the end, except for us, why us? what is so special about us? we are the only species that can imagine a heaven and a god, so for some indoctrinated or gullible people, an imagined heaven and a god exists. I'm just a dumb atheist and I can see this, why can't people a lot smarter than me see it?
@@kennethbest4640 What has always baffled me, is why so many people are so sure about something for which they have absolutely no evidence? in no other part of their life would something be believed with nothing but words in a book to back it up. There can only be one reason why this happens, they want to believe because it comforts them to believe, regardless of evidence or truth the comfort the belief brings outweighs any need for evidence, and the lack of evidence is quietly moved to one side in favour of warm feelings.
