Thank you so much!!
What's the original 2nd song?
All the decisions we've ever made led us to discovering this.
Its true I'm one of his white friends
Davinio gods plaaaan
All of the data collected about our personal interests has led the almighty algorithm to revealing this to us.
Seriously though, it's great music and I agree that it's worthwhile to spend a lot of time listening to music and going to record shops just for the pure enjoyment. Sometimes it truly is magical what you're able to dig up!
Can`t agree more
I was looking for "70's japanese cars", then this showed up
THE GUY ON THE COVER IS YAMAMOTO TSUYOSHI. GENIUS PIANO PLAYER.
UNFORTUNATELY NONE OF HIS TRACKS ARE IN THIS PLAYLIST.
HE INTRODUCED MY PARENTS SO WITHOUT THIS DUDE I WOULDN'T BE HERE.
HATS OFF
WHATTT! TELL THE STORYYY
my guy tell the storyyyy
TELL US BROO
THE STORY PLA
Wooow
The first track really hooked me. Japanese instruments in a jazzy beat? Awesome. And so I stayed for one of the best compilations I've ever heard.
And it's a cover.
Take Five- Dave Brubeck
I’m glad I finally made it here✨
Blessed the algorithm that brought me here
hear it nearly every day since it leaded me here ^^
Me three
My bussy stinks
#metoo
I have no idea how the the algorithm came to the conclusion I might like this, but I'm happy it did. I'm just a bit sad that an algorithm appears to know what I like better than I do

@@leftclot
Oof
@@leftclot You know, I could be mad at you for correcting me. I could also be mad at myself for the spelling mistake. Instead, I accidentally clicked on your channel thumbnail and saw some of your work and I must say, from one animation artist to another- respect!
@@pirateking888 Haha!! what a way to accidentally find new artists. Thanks. but btw, I only typed *an cuz I thought it's funny tht you said intellectual, but then had a spelling error. Really just meant it in good humor (:

mac demarco is a pretty deep producer
How the fuck
So Mac sampled this?
Lair De jager yes, in “chamber of reflection” he’s an interesting guy. i shook hands with him at a party in late 2015
@@Blue-qh1rx he asked permission. His track is pretty much a tribute to the original source.
Looks like ive clicked and searched all the right videos to find this. What a blessing
I had no clue JAPANESE jazz existed untill 10 minutes ago on this dark Tuesday, 2:36a.m.
Dude I have news for you they play baseball and poker too, they are not living in an isolation chamber over there. Still a good discovery I suppose.
@@wolfgang757 Clearly you don't get my point. Of course it exists. I had not a clue of it's existence. That and I was more shocked thats there's "jazz" and "Japanese Jazz" The difference is noticeable.
You know what they say... Learn something every day, right? Enjoy- It's good stuff.
Evett's Model Shop Enjoyed the entire mix and intend to hear more in this year.
I happened to stumble upon this Japanese jazz on my own dark Tuesday as well(3/26/19), needles to say I'm intrigued by this discovery and glad I was open enough to receive these vibrations precisely when I needed them
The algorithm hath chosen. Praise be.
Praise Be 🙏
Greet the new day
All praise the algorithm! 🙌
@@younggrasshopper3531 Dawn breaks upon some fresh-ass jazz. Lord Dagon will be pleased.
For real
Thank you youtube algorithm
After finding a lot of good music , Quarantine wasn't a bad option in the end
Never was a jazz person. But now, in 2019, I have become a 1970s Japanese jazz person. I never would have thought that when I woke up this morning...
Note - This is just my opinion, but of course I think it's true, because it's my opinion:
A lot of people have only been shown jazz right before it got really good. The greatest era of jazz is when it first went underground after leaving the mainstream. In the late 60s and throughout the 70s, jazz musicians began experimenting with all sorts of sounds and there was a crazy cool flourishing of new sounds, rhythms, instrument combos, genre blends, etc. It also became way more international in this era, with African and Japanese jazz scenes taking off. This isn't to say older jazz isn't good, it's just more in a box the same way rock music in the 80s was in a box. Even the greatest rock groups of that era still fit in. Van Halen might have been leagues better than most of their contemporaries, but it's still that general "rock" sound. By being the mainstream of a specific era, it doesn't have a timeless appeal.
Well, better late than never. am very envious, as you are about to enter a truly magical world and discover some amazing tunes and artists for the very first time. It's a journey that i undertook many years ago, hence my envy at you now being in the position that i was in all those years back. Discover and Enjoy!
Me too bro I'm obsessed now

@@TheSpecialJ11 'experimental' music is just blah. It's another way to say 'it's not good but worth one listen for some odd technique variety'. It's not worth anything till you apply those techniques to actually make a groovy jam. But most experimental musicians are just hard stuck on being weirder for weirdness sake seeming to have lost all connection to what music is here for ...
Japanese Jazz just immediately makes me think Cowboy Bebop
Cowboy bebop immediately makes me thinks of Saib.
See you later space cowboy
Good one!
@J G it has nothing to do with "weebooism"; it's music, and great music at that
True story, my music instructor used every tool at his disposal to turn us to jazz, I was never deeply interested. It was eventually Cowboy Bebop that dragged me to the dark side.
I love to read comments of this playlists type cause you guys are all WHOLESOME !
Thank you CZcams algorithm!
Japanese people don't simply imitate, they EMBRACE foreign cultures.
You feel the authenticity in the music.
DISCO-INFERNO-70 Well said. You would think redoing jazz standards with your culture’s traditional instruments would be a simple, predictable idea, but that cover of Take 5 was so fucking soulful and magical that it might be my personal definitive version now.
Whatever you say, gaijin.
japanese people honestly are only second as a culture to have immense music talent after india
I'm pretty sure Japanese culture is notoriously xenophobic.
@@billybadass7718 from the few shows I binged this month, thats what I am to believe but I think just like every large population, they have good and bad traits
*I love how jazz is global. Seeing different cultures put their own spin on it is so gratifying.*
*When I travel the world one day,*
*I want to hit underground jazz spots in every city that I can find them. From Japan to Switzerland.*
Edit: Thank you for dropping names of jazz spots to hit up in your city.
I really appreciate it. If you guys are ever in Baltimore, Maryland then go to my favorite underground jazz spot called An Die Musik LIVE. I go by myself every month to see my favorite trumpet player and his jazz band perform. It's like therapy for me.
Sounds like a great plan! If you'll stop by at my hometown Bern, Switzerland (Beautiful Town by the way) be sure to check out the Marians Jazzroom.
Indonesian jazz, look at Balawan or Dewa Budjana, both are from Bali.. the later do collaboration with Jordan Rudess, Marco Minnemann and Mohini Dey recently, a jazz fusion album with strong Indonesian traditional sounds.. check it out, maybe you'll like it.

Amazing and not like another 👍👍👍
I agree! It really transported me to another place/dimension.

For some reason the 70's was a real golden era , everything about the 70's was unique
The fact that you searched for Japanese jazz, and you get one of a kind of a masterpiece!!

exactly! 👐🏻
Today is a bad day, but atleast this randomly popped up in my recommended.
amen
It's 2 am midnight. I'm dancing furiously on this amazing jazz 70s jam. I'm sweating my body weight. I've had glasses of wisky. I've had joints. I've had sunshine.
Let's rock it till the morning people. LET'S GO!

Damn you’re living it up!

I want to thumbs up, but leaving it at 69 feels right.
Makes me want to chill out and binge-watch Cowboy Bebop all over again.
So desu
37:57 This subtle transition into Hey Jude is one of the best things about music. Someone on the other side of the world, in a completely different culture, can connect to Paul McCartney (and Lennon) through his music, take it and make it distinctly their own while retaining its essence. Beautiful.
Jazz = Afro culture
And i pretty sure the flute is a reference to Jethro Tull too
plot twist, its just Komm Susser Todd and they messed up. It was an evangelion reference all along
@@julianmorales-silva160 i sure hope it's not
who knew that a japanese version of take five is exactly what i was always missing in my life
As much as i love black jazz, as a black girl, I'm digging the Jazzjap a lot
Jazz, Funk = Black Afro Music
Love me some late night Jazzanese
Out of all the things we did in our lives since birth has come to when we found this.
after hearing 'kuro to shiro' I'm convinced that metal music is a spin off of jazz!
God bless everyone and have a good day.,
ok everyone showed up to this video at the same time cool
incorrect
This is why the music of anime’s is usually the best music in existence.... whatever led youtube to put this in my recommendations.....
Thank you for finally doing something right youtube algorithms.... don’t change that algorithm
The first track was a nice remake of Dave Brubeck called “take five “ July 1, 1959.
I’m from New Orleans. I’m glad I’ve found this
1:03:45 Chamber of reflection
Ooooh yes!
Shit :o
no fucking way...i knew in an interview he said that he was inspired by someone but wouldn't reveal who because it would be clear he ripped it off too much haha wow full circle
No doubt. It might as well be a cover. Love Mac but give credit where it's due!

魂を助ける音楽
I think this is the best random mix I've ever heard on youtube
Yes I think so too!👍🏼
I agree!!
Me and the homies tripped on some tabs just listening to funk first time hearing Japanese funk such bangers
the opening rendition of take five is 10/10
Hey Jude - The Beatles 38:00
1st time I listened, grooved while doing house chores, shared the link with my late dad and he enjoyed it (all this in 2018...dad passed in 2021)! Growing on up jazz (mom was a saprano at catholic church, she passed in 2022) and music, it was 😎😎 to hear this. Been 5 years since I listemed, found it by accident😮😮😮!
I just found this and one of the first things I did was share it with my dad bc he is kinda into Japanese style of music I'm glad we could share that little experience
26:54 Teruo Nakamura - Some other Blues (Unicorn, 1973)
Drum solo !! love it!
Yoooo.... Track #9 blew my mind. I had no idea that was a sample that Travis Scott and mac demarco used. The level of crate digging for that is crazy.
Feel the Nippon Groove
four minutes in and my jaw is on the floor
The rhythm in the first song reminds me of take five..the song
First time listening to Japanese Jazz, not gonna lie my mind has been opened 🤪
Luv the Japanese instruments to this Take Five jam
East meets West in a glorious way.
This album is A.W.E.S.O.M.E
I love African and Asian combinations truly the best on earth, so many similarities explains why we are cousins.
Japanese Jazz contains such a majestic sound. It takes you to a realm of nostalgia, which coexists with the very-distant future…
1:04:02 sampled by mac demarco! (chamber of reflection)
damn, I thought I was the only one who noticed. felt so smart. though I wouldn't call it 'sampling' because he didn't sample this recording. just took the riff and called it his own.
What this year needs.
Every time I come here, I hear a new color of gold.
This playlist is like listening to a morning cigarette with coffee.
Listening to a cigarette? Okay.

japanese's 80s jezz bar..sounds nice
How did I managed to get to December 2020 without knowing about the existance of this?
Take five is a medicine
+japanese taste🌌😌
Jazz belongs to every culture, the whole world. That's what it is; a synthesis, a hybrid artform.
This is some of the freshest jazz I've heard in a long time. It's really full of vitality!
No Jazz is embraced by cultures across the world and interpretations of said African American music and history.
I swear that the Brubeck song is totally the bass and drum line at the end of Nujabes' song kiss of life
After all my 2000 albums and cds , I'm still hunting around for this music . Got a fair few , but very hard and expensive to collect. Don't really just like to stream my music...... All these mix tapes are essential for searching out the real stuff. Shame not more company's don't issue this music on vinyl and cd . Thanks to bbe London UK for the Japanese jazz albums out now . But we need more .
Absolute pleasure to work whilst listening to that music.
So everyone got this recommended 😂
