That's wonderful that you tried to remedy the first dance so you wouldn't offend anyone. Everyone makes mistakes, but only a few care to correct them :). Oh, and I absolutely love your walk like an egyptian dance. The best one I've seen to that song! You all are so talented, and your synchronization is perfect!

I used this dance and song for me and my group in English class today. We had to present the creation story of Egypt and we used this dance in it. Our teacher is a perfectionist and even the honors classes didn't do so well. My group got a 95, the highest of all the grades. Everyone got low 80s. This was our semester exam and I'm soo happy! Thanks soo much for this video! :D

Nicely done - good synchronization and choreography. Congrats on the second place win.
As far as the music goes - sacred music should be beautiful, and beautiful music should be used in further praise. And this dance seems like a good way to praise Goddess' works in this world.

The first song, "Spirit of the Ancestors," is off a CD of music that was specifically written for bellydance. The CD is called Fire Dance, by Omar Faruk Tekbilek and Brian Keane. I'd say if these guys created it to be danced to, there should be no problem...

Thanks for taking the time to comment on our video. This dance is a bellydance fusion piece. Some prefer the more traditional styles that are so awesome to watch. We like the freedom of fusing many dance influences to different styles of music. I find most enjoy our performances. I would be bored with just one or two styles. :-) I hope to see one of your videos. I am sure you are an awesome dancer and I respect your opinion. :-) Happy dancing to you! :-)

You are correct on the ignorance. The song is called "Spirit of the Ancestors". I read the description of the music which did not express any kind of religious implications on it. We no longer use the intro with the chant in it and have revised it. This is the actual video of the competition though. It was never meant to be disrespectful in any way or manner.

@rhealimgalang I'm not sure about where to get the first song, but the second one is available on "Desert Roses, vol. 3" (the "Desert Roses" are/were a second bellydance troupe put together by Miles Copeland, founder of "The Bellydance Superstars." Not sure what happened to the Roses, you never hear of them anymore). The artist is Hakim, featuring Cleopatra. Hakim is pretty much the Elvis of sha'abi music in Egypt. He's phenomenal! :D

    Hi,
The slow song at the very beginning is a song called "Spirit of the ancestors " off the Fire dance cd by Brian Keane. I did shorten that song though.
Then the Walk like and egyptian song is off the Desert Roses 3 cd and is by Hakim. :-)
