For which course, is this for in ignou ? Is it linguistics ? Sapir & Whorf theory can be seen strongly in Indian movies... For example a Malayalam movie from Kerala cannot be fully understood by a Non Malayalee even with subtitles... ... Because without knowing the linguistic relative cultural elements the Movie cannot be fully "understood & felt" as it is understood & felt from the native cultural perspective & framework. In my observation a particular language like for eg : Malayalam has unique elements that determines unique patterns of thought to a CERTAIN EXTENT, those same elements which are quite absent in other languages... (By the way I also know some Indian languages as well) I really don't know why this theory is criticized ? This is true to a great extent..
