- Gibson Custom Shop is proud to present the new signature model from Marcus King. The Marcus King 1962 ES-345 with Sideways Vibrola reflects more than just the craftsmanship that brings to life the young phenom’s sonic stamp. It's a reflection of his heritage.
Marcus King is a fourth-generation musician with a larger-than-life sound that's filled with incredible feel and soul, whether he's writing, playing guitar, or singing. The Gibson Custom Shop's Marcus King 1962 ES-345 with Sideways Vibrola is a highly personalized recreation of "Big Red," the classic model that was handed down from King's grandfather, Bill King, to his father, Marvin King, and finally to Marcus as he took his family's musical legacy to stages worldwide. It's equipped with a pair of Custombucker humbuckers, a 6-position mono Varitone switch, audio taper CTS potentiometers and Black Cat capacitors, an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, a Sideways Vibrola, Stop Bar bushings with a "Custom Made" cover plate, gold Grover "milk bottle" Rotomatic tuners ("a King household trademark," according to Marcus), an engraved "Stereo" truss rod cover, and is finished in Sixties Cherry VOS. A Custom Shop ES case, Certificate of Authenticity, and Marcus King belt buckle are also included. The belt buckle was hand-carved, hand-cast, and hand-finished in the USA by Maker and Smith. The custom design was inspired by the Blue Ridge Mountains in Marcus King’s native state of South Carolina.

Marcus we all love you so much and what you bring to this crazy world. I could listen to your family stories all day and just feel SO blessed. My family were generational musicians as well and we spent many evenings on the front porch singing all the old bluegrass tunes. My Grandpa and four generations before him were old time fiddlers. My Dad played flat top behind Grandpa. Takes me back to simple things and simpler days. Lemonade, front porch swings, and family music. Thankful to you for sharing your souls and your talent with us. That is a beautiful guitar! Love that it’s mono, but still has the Varitone. Out of Phase sound is one of my favorites, and any double Humbucker guitar that I own has to have it.
