    This might be the best video lesson I ever viewed. I have struggled for years trying to get more distance and watching friends that are no stronger than me hit the ball much farther. After listening to your explanation and going out to the range I added 8 miles an hour to my 7 iron club head speed. It's a month later now and still a work in progress but when I get the movement and timing right it is so effortless and the extra distance is magical. This was indeed the secret sauce for me.

    This is such an interesting feeling!I tend to always have my body going constantly forward because of a history with a lot of fat shots before stack and tilt. I tried this at the range today and it felt really good, contact distance and loft were in such a better spot but I had a sensation that I was feeling my body stop so I could whip the hips and club through impact.Have you ever had students describe that same feeling? I’m curious how it will translate to grass this weekend if I was doing it right in full swing.

    The great Bobby Jones described the feeling of cracking the whip, his swing was different than yours but a lot of similar moves. He could hit it far with hickory shafts and a ball that definitely wasn't the ball we use. His contemporaries has said he hit it over 300 easily, i agree because i have him on dvd hitting 270 yards off the fairway with his spoon.

      @FredCDobbs-er4qd Před 2 lety +1

      Not 270.....240 with a good 50 yards of roll. I have the same video set. The fairways were firm in those days (1931) and today it is mostly carry. But we just saw 400 yard+ drives at The Open at St. Andrews because of 75 and even 100 yard roll outs. No need to exaggerate, Long drive competitions were won with a 235 yard drive. It just hit me when bowling is brought up. Regarding stack n tilt golf swing, the weight on the lead leg. Same with a right handed bowler with weight on left leg and hips do not spin out. Same in hockey, which I played a lot before taking up golf. Whipping the stick on a slapshot or a wrister. If there was no weight on my lead leg, I'd find myself flat on my back on the ice. In hockey, the trail leg kicks out much like a bowlers, with the toe side of the skate pushing back on the ice for stability and power. Very well said, Jess. Thank you.

    I did a club fitting a month ago. With my driver, I had a 1.489 smash factor, 13-14 degree launch angle, and RPM less than 1600. In other words, I was getting just about every last yard out of my swing. It was just too slow, maxing out at 92 mph that day. Since then, my baseline is up closer to 97 mph and I get the occasional swing over 100. But I feel like I'm a good enough athlete to get to 110, it's just not happening right now, despite a lot of hard work. I am really having a hard time grasping this concept. I feel it's the only thing holding me back from that next level. I'm going to be focused on this until I get it down. Thanks for the video!

    The trail leg motion makes sense. So when it comes sequence currently on the downswing currently I drop the left arm and delay the shoulder turn a bit. Do I now forget about that and my first move down is digging the trail foot backward while my left arm drops before or during or after the trail foot move? Keeping in mind my right leg has already straightened on the backswing so now on the way down I dig in with the skateboard/bowling move and extend that right leg even further even though it’s already in full extension from the back swing? Can you help me with that please.

  • @pohoresky
    @pohoresky Před 3 lety +1

    Hi Jess- point of clarification. You say the centre of swing (where swing arc bottoms out) is beneath lead arms pit or left shoulder for righties. I have always been taught it was located directly below the sternum which may or may not be underneath the left shoulder at impact. If one does not transfer weight to the lead foot, the sternum will not move there and the centre of the swing will be in the centre of ones stance if that is where the sternum is located at impact. Correct? Your assumption is that the sternum moves over under the lead shoulder at impact.

  • @SwingEzzZZ
    @SwingEzzZZ Před 2 lety +1

    When I look at McIlroy's right leg post impact, it's almost straight. It's straighter than everybody's else. As for Justin Thomas, I look at his right foot at post impact. He almost stands on his right toe. This concept was explained in Joe Dante's book titled "the 4 Magic Moves". It's based on science/Physics of Conservation of Angular Momentum. When we brake the handle of the whip, all the momentum must transfer to the other end, the tip of the whip with great speed and sound.

      @JessFrankGolfAcademyBocaRaton  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Isaac Brad is terrific! The transfer of energy into the club head shouldn’t cause you to roll your arms and hands it’s just a natural motion. You shouldn’t roll your hands because that changes the club face and path too drastically. The bowler is drill is phenomenal

    Cracking the whip or snapping the towel through impact has always puzzled me. To snap a towel, the hands stop and actually pull back fractionally to create the speed, at least the way I feel it. Mr. Frank, do you feel like you are actually pulling back with the left shoulder and body through impact to create the motion? Maybe another way to feel it? Thank you for all of your information. I appreciate it.

    • @teddythodo3302
      @teddythodo3302 Před 3 lety +1

      Snapping the towel is not the correct analogy. CZcams search “bull whip” And you will see that it’s basically just the extension of the arm and the wrist using it as a lever and leveraging to create speed. There is no pull back in the golf swing so- snapping the towel is something very different. But a crack of the whip is done entirely different. Look up bull whip and you’ll see.

    • @teddythodo3302
      @teddythodo3302 Před 3 lety +1

      So apparently there is multiple ways to crack the whip. But the one we are looking for in golf is this czcams.com/video/i78vyzgcS0M/video.html
      Side arm bull whip crack. It’s almost effortless and allowing the whip to be used against itself and using the leverage of the wrists to extend.

    I think the f-up in golf is that it all starts from a stand still position. Almost every other sporting action (shooting a ball, throwing a ball) happens while moving thus creates momentum all the time, it happens automatically. You never have to teach someone how to shoot or throw a ball. It just goes. Hitting thru a ball while standing still is a whole different situation however. Hence all the golf channels on YT and all the lessons ppl take. Never seen it so busy on a baseball yard where ppl try to throw a ball. Funny little thing golf...!

      I think we are talking about the same thing for sure. Rory McIlroy has similar foot action to Scottie but doesn’t do it as much. As for the announcers well they are announcers lol! Correct on the tilting of the hips. Because the knees change flex in the golf swing the hips tilt:)

      @@arthurford829Hey Arthur. This video was 3 years ago. Jess’ presentation and video production is so much better now. Sometimes direct feedback can be helpful but you are right, perhaps I could have been less harsh. Very appreciative of the hard work put in by anybody trying to build a CZcams channel.

    Everyone should know that our hands placed correctly on the grip of our club acts as a counterweight to the weight and mass of the head of the club. Another words as in a bullwhip the head of a golf club is heavier then the handle of a golf club. Knowing this; we all must crack the club head through the ball using the handle of our club as a Cowboy might do a side arm trail overhand cracking of his bullwhip with his handle.
    Whether a person does Stack and Tilt or a conventional swing the easiest start of the down swing is a side arm cracking of the whip motion at the top of the swing. This simple to learn action automatically places our trail elbow in the correct position to our side for the club head to crack directly at the ball and then with it increasing momentum takes over our trail arm to wrap around us on a conventional swing. With a Stack and Tilt the finish is a little different. But both should be done solely with the one swing thought to Grip it and Whip it. John Daley was almost right. Cheers
    All the confusing foot work that you have shown should become automatic in Stack and Tilt as long as you swing the club back lower under the trail shoulder then one would do in a conventional swing. However either way crack the whip with the handle of the club; never ever rolling the handle as you are doing it. Cheers
