- čas přidán 8. 01. 2020
- We built this natural swim pond for a client that wanted an alternative to your typical pool. Pond is 6ft deep and 35x40. It has a constructed wetland filter for water clarity and intake bay for skimming debris. The pond also has 8 jets to keep lower water circulating.

Beautiful work - well done! However, the actual sound of the water instead of music when showing the final result would have been nice to hear...
Thanks for the input!

Water sooths the soul!
This is by far the best natural looking swimming pond on youtube.
Thanks. It was a big learning curve for us but we feel it turned out well!
Agree
@@fontanawaterfeatures It turned out much better than "Well". It turned out FANTASTIC!
well.....this was pretty neat to watch kinda feel like I was watching the guys that hand digs their pools...but with machines lol great job!

Great job guys, nice work 👌
Much appreciated!
@@fontanawaterfeatures how much would this be?
@@ashleywhite6458 For just the pond/wetland/stream probably in the 120K range (CAD)

Very nice! As someone who designs & implements real life instream structures and wetland restoration in conservation, I was intrigued by what & how you would do this. Well done. I liked everything... except for the price tag! Ha ha ha ha
Absolutely stunning work.
Thank you very much!
Fair play what a stunning m8 piece of art well done
Thanks! It was a labour of love.
Perfection.
Great looking pond. How many GPH down the waterfalls?
Very modest home with a million dollar yard!!!
.... just stunning! Congratulations guys.
Client: I like rocks
Contractor: yes
Not just any rocks, but limestone
That's dope, if I was a millionaire I would definitely be doing this lol
it's very nice but quite elaborate... most natural swimming ponds have plants and mosses to help filter the water rather than a huge filtration system...
Very good work.
Is there no risk of perforation by using the stone directly on the plastic sheeting?
There is always that risk. That is why we protect our rubber liner with geotextile fabric on both sides.
I've dug several test pits around my property and have 2-3 foot of sold clay under my topsoil. Would it be possible to archive similar results without the liner? Just don't see that rubber lasting the test of time??? But maybe I'm wrong... Great work thanks for posting!
Earthen bottom ponds require a bit of a different style of intake skimmer but its been done plenty of times by many contractors. That being said, EPDM liner, if installed properly, should last upwards of 20 years.
@@fontanawaterfeatures the right epdm last for over 50 years ;) (2mm)
This is so beautiful
Thank you!
Красота 👍 😍👏👏👏
Excellent workmanship and video.
i wonder if the black liner pollutes the soil over the time by breaking down to microplastics. if so i'd like to know there is a more environment friendly alternative of that.
Clay is the best sealant, but very few landscape pond builders know how to employ it.
When yellow stone national park comes to you!🤯👍
Great work, used to work for a company years ago doing similar work.

Que projeto alsado top
Awesome...I'm jealous!
Question...how long will a liner system like that last?
If properly cared for it should last upwards of 20 years.
@@fontanawaterfeatures How do you care for it? It's underground and a layer of massive rocks, haha.
Just imagine how much work these are when the liners eventually start leaking nobody mentions it as if it will not happen but it will
This is beautiful, and through the entire video I kept thinking, "Some drunk idiot is gonna drive right into that pond."
Looks great as always nice job with the bottom of pond. How many tons of boulders and gravel did this project take.
Roughly 190 tonne of stone and 50ish tonne of gravel. We will admit we underestimated tonnage of gravel on this one by about half.
@@fontanawaterfeatures How do you get your gravel in bags? The only place I've ever seen them is at the Home Depot, with ¾" crushed rock in them. Can you order them delivered that way, or do you fill them on site? Do you use more than one size of gravel in your projects? In your stream videos it often looks like the stream is all one size of gravel...
Beautiful job how much do this cost?
what is the monthly evaporation quantity in a pond this size? and monthly running costs? curious .. thanks
Hey there, you're so talented I enjoyed watching this. Can I use this video for my compilation? I'll credit you fully!
Sure!
I am impressed with whoever had the lead for designing this beauty! And I suppose the owners aren’t all that concerned with the cost (meaning that they have this kind of money to spend), but what a bitch it will be to find the inevitable “leak” in the base membranes someday....whenever, 10, 15, 20, 25 years down the road? I can’t fathom how you’d begin to locate it....as you would in a conventional pool with a liner....under all that gravel and stone. Still, it is a beautiful creation!
This is great, but also great home for mosquitos
Fishhh
How much was it to build and how deep is it?
what pumps and pipe size did you use?
Was the rubber liner placed over the white pipes in the bottom?
Yes. The white pipes were for an under-liner drainage system to control ground water. This project was very close to the water table so it was necessary.
Fire
Looks good what would the roughly the cost of something this size?
In the $120-140k range. Obviously there are alot of factors (access, depth, stream length, wetland filter size) but that's a good starting price.
All that for a pond with rocks and about a stroke of swimming length?
I think someone's missing the point
It's limestone to help filter the water
I love this, its what I want at my house. What is an average price for something like this?
They would start in the $80K range. Thats pretty minimal compared to this in size but would be more like a wading pond (4ft deep)
@@fontanawaterfeatures Thats not that bad considering a concrete pool with chemicals runs 50k and up
Great work. Lack of plants though
Looks amazing. Beautiful. I bet she is high maintenance. Mother nature would gobble her up in one season and turn her into a weed infested misqueto breeding ground full of frogs and snakes
As with any pond, it is SOME maintenance but we wouldn't consider it high maintenance. The two main things are to clean out the intake bay/skimmer and flush out the wetland filter once a year. Also isn't a bad idea to add bacteria once a week. Pretty low maintenance compared to a pool with constant water chemistry checks and dealing with filters etc. The fact is, anything on this scale whether a pool or pond is going to take some upkeep.
Amazing! Could you add fish?
Of course!
Awesome job 👍
Would love to see an update on this

Me: To the Timmy house
Best one I’ve seen yet,, the others the water looks extremely dark even tho I know it’s frm the black liner but still don’t like when u can’t see nothing in the water at all.
Thank you. This pond was still very fresh when we filmed so the dirt from the rocks was still working its way out. It looks amazing now! Crystal clear.
Massive😍😘🏊♂️
This I'd exactly what I'm looking for, what would be a good estimate for this in 2023?
$150-200K
Great job ! Xavier from France
How much did it cost?
I am afraid to ask the price of this masterpiece ......
The wetland filter, is that supposed to have plants in it, or is it really just a gravel filter?
Nice work.. but with all those 🌳 and the leaves falling in the fall .that would be a pain to keep maintained .
Its true that there are many tall trees around that shed. However, the intake bay/skimmer and strategically placed surface jets work amazingly to gather that debris for removal later. Stay tuned for a future video we are making on each component of a swim pond.
Most of those are evergreen so needles not leaves
Brock Mccuen Oh! Needles are way easier to manage than leaves
@@Quick-ug2wl if dealt with quickly but left to pile up they will compost into a muddy material as well but if those were all deciduous tree's then I couldn't imagine the clean up.
Its cool but definitely liked the green grassy yard before, now theres a bunch of rocks everywhere
Wow
Expensive, yes, but think of the money saved never having to go away for vacation again!
hope you visit my youtube channel,
@@luongis nah
@@luongis why would you say this!?
A pond cannot replace vacation. Vacation isn’t only ponds and water. Why do you guys have this misconception? I love ponds but saying this doesn’t make any sense.
@@saeed6811 just having a little fun, didn't mean to philosophize.
For a recreational pond with a wetland filter, what pump do you use? Curious as to electrical pump being in water for wetland filter?
For a swimming pond we typically use external pumps for liability reasons.
Okay. Can this picture be painted clearly to me. The intake bay has 3 pumb vaults and I am assuming it has 3 pumps in there. I saw a connection of 3 pipes from the intake bay towards the swimming pool pumps(external). Also there is a biolfal on the otherside of the intake bay as well as a wetland filter. How are these water of pipe connections done and from which point to which point. Eg. Let's say water moves from intake bay to........... then back into the pool. I don't know if I am clear enough
There are actually 4 pipes coming from the intake bay. They all go towards the external pumps you saw in the video. From there, 2 pipes go to the waterfall, 1 goes to the wetland filter, and 1 goes to feed the underwater jets. Does that help?
@@fontanawaterfeatures From this description it seems that only half the water goes through the Wetland Filter, but that assumes all the pumps are the same. What percentage goes through the wetland filter, and what percentage into the waterfalls?
0:57
Is this an infiltration system to catch ground water and pump it out so you don't have ground water pushing against the liner before the pond is filled? or is it needed to be pumped dry all the time?
Yes. It catches water and sends it up the path of least resistance (up the sump pipe) and exits out of a pipe tied into the house drain system.
Epic!!
Not a how to, a time lapse filled with ads. Nice.
It never fails to rain during a build. Why is that ? During my build it has been a constant death heat or a torrent of water downpour lol
The time of year we started this is part of the reason for all the rain. Up here in the Pacific Northwest there is a good chance of rain from October through May!
Nice. Have you made a natural pool that is about 10 feet deep ?
Not yet but it's certainly doable.
Not a swimming pool but a rock pond!
Is there a fully solar option or an option where you don’t require electricity from the city for this. I wanna do something completely self reliant and natural
Very challenging to do this on solar.
Coolll
During the construction of this pond, did you undergo any inspections?
Depends on where they are most likely an inspector will just want to see that you hit clay. They could have also just taken pictures and sent it in.
So its a pool with a lot of extra step?
De verdad considero una inversión muy alta versus el resultado... Creo que se podría hacer mejor o igual con infinito menos costos..
I am still wondering what these pipes you installed in the beginning do. If i saw it correctly you simply added gravel and dug them in again, so I think that i missed sth important here.
This catches water under to liner to avoid bubbling of the membrane. It sends it up a sump pipe outside the liner and exits the sump via a pipe tied into the house drainage.
