Heat Gun Uncapping

Uncapping honey with a heat gun! Could you…….Yes. Should you…….thats up to you! Took a few momenta before a long long day of extracting honey to give you our thoughts on using a Heat Gun to uncapp honey. Definitely a possibility for the small scale hobby beekeeper!

Rusty, thanks for this informative video. I rarely get a frame of dry capped honey and the heat gun just doesn’t make sense for me. I think I will stick with the knife, spiked roller and uncapping fork. I can see where the heat gun may be less destructive on the comb for dry capped. I’m looking forward to your harvesting video!

We dont use the gun either. Just thought Id address it. The SHF uncapper we have along with a scratcher and pin roller is a WHOLE lot faster.

Works well on dry capped honey. A little problematic on wet capped. Thanks for watching and commenting!😁

Just tried this and I would not recommend it. I went ot home depot and got a Dewalt heat gun and although it does work, it takes forever. Better off using a hot knife.
