I know from experience that the older your sons get they will want a clean room and clean house especially as teenagers they will want friends over and they won't be ashamed of their house they will be proud of their Mother and what she has accomplished 😊
I love a good before and after!! Also love how realistic this is, authentic. Change doesn't happen overnight, or in the span of one makeover video. It takes time!
Your kitchen looks *GREAT!* Congratulations for keeping it up!
I like to clean my fridge out every week *before* I go grocery shopping. That way I'm not over buying and I know I have ingredients for my meal plan for the week!
Mrs. Heart, do you have a video or a list of resources on healing from hoarding disorder? I find there's not much out there (until finding your channel) with good, solid THERAPY-led advice on how to overcome hoarding disorder. I'd love some additional resources if you have any to recommend.
I love that 1960s carpet that was under the top layer...but not in the kitchen! Beautiful kitchen!
Oh my god i remember the carpet 😅 When I saw that video I was so confused why a kitchen would have carpet! Was so happy for you when you got the kitchen done up ☺️
My grandmother's house from the 70s had very similar looking carpet in the kitchen and we're all the way over here in Germany 😂 Must have been a fad?!
My aunt had thick cushioning carpet put over a beautiful floor because she cooked and baked all the time and she got shin splints from standing and walking on the floor. One day when someone buys that house, they are going to find a beautiful floor under the carpet!
Oh gosh, I remember the episode with all those cups ..and the choosing of the muffin baking pans! And the one, when you organized your pantry for the first time! But what I absolutely loved, waa the sound of your voice, when you showed us the new floor! I jumped from happiness for you that time, and did again today-truly-even woke up my cat 😂 Speaking of which, I remember you creating a "kitty corner" for Miss Pepper, in that nook close to where her feeding station is. Is it still there? Would love an update of it, as I am sure you did, or will, make it cosy and with some nice decor. And I also really like the season decor you have all around your home, but the kitchen one is always special for me! And you made me clean and start a difficult decluttering process, as also being a level 4/5 hoarder, so will never be more grateful for you being you and your lovely encouragement! Cheers! ❤
You have come so far. Honored to share this journey with you. 🎉
Hi! I thought I'd just pop in here to share a helpful tip I heard recently. Putting your produce in the fridge door, where the condiments usually go, is great for people with ADHD, because it'll be the first thing you see when you open the fridge and you'll remember to use them. The condiments have a much longer shelf life and aren't usually rotated out of the fridge as often, so they can be stored in the produce drawer instead. I really hope this helps 😊😊 I love your channel so much ❤️ thank you for sharing everything that you do
Very satisfying and calming video 👏 ❤ Maybe you could add up the wasted food costs each month, to see how much you could of saved by not overpurchasing etc
You’ve come a long way and continue to do so ….so proud of you my friend 😘❤️
My very clean mother-in-law always had carpet in her kitchen because it was "cheaper," but she had to clean it all the time. There was a beautiful wood floor underneath.
I have kept my kitchen island clean for 2 weeks . For me that's been really hard. It's the catch all for everything. Small steps for me.
Way to go! How exciting :D!!
Such a nice change. I am learning also that less stuff to manage is less stressful and it looks nicer.
I get a weekly delivery of food etc and every week before the delivery I check the fridge for out of dates and clean it, because it is every week I can keep on top of it and not subject my family to possibly dangerous food.
An inspiration as always
Buying too much food makes it difficult to clean out the fridge on a weekly basis. We used to do the same thing. We can now go two weeks without buying pantry items. But, we buy fresh produce and dairy on the weekly basis. Also having designated areas in the fridge. Like stuff i have to use up top right of the fridge door. Dairy like cheese, butter, sour cream and so on goes in a basket. Long term produce on the right, and time sensitive fruit on the left. Left overs and food prep on the top. And milks, drinks, and eggs on the bottom rack. It saves us a ton of money and time.❤
You are amazing. I would love to see you on The Minimal Mom podcast. She had a podcast with The Crappy Childhood Fairy and it was awesome. You would be a great person on there.
I watched the episode and thought of Ms.Heart the whole time!!!! Oh, it was such a great episode. I hope Ms.Heart watches it.
You’re amazing! 💪😃💕
My goal is to waste no food this year. But disclaimer… I live alone, so there’s just me to worry about! 😊
You’re smart to write expiration dates on your food, or the date that you opened the bottle, jar, etc.!
So glad the carpetsgone beautiful kitchen❤🥰🦄
This is my dream kitchen! Wish I could get hubby onboard. He does most of the cooking and prefers EVERYTHING out and visible 😢 even if it’s not in current use. Then he complains about no room to work 😂.
You might look into pegboards and hooks. If you can find it online, Julia Child's kitchen from Cambridge Massachusetts (the one now in the Smithsonian) has a bunch of pegboard organization that her husband Paul installed.
Sounds like ADHD. Out of sight = forget it exists, using lots of executive function to try to remember = exhausting. Also people with adhd are a lot more likely to be hoarders.
So, if he's not on meds, maybe try to find some that help. If not, it's a pain to get people with ADHD to make any changes but it is usually possible.
You have to get him to really think about his priorities all the way through.
I also find that plastic open bins from target help me. I keep all my daily pills in one, and it can move more easily so I can have them out, but also move them when I need space.
If he however has the attitude that it's always something else's fault (you, the house, the stuff) and never his, then he's never going to improve, and you have to decide how much you're willing to drain your own energy listening to him griping forever.
My husband is much more of a visible person too but I found that if the cabinets don’t have too much in them and there is actually a place for everything (that isn’t inconvenient to get to), that he doesn’t mind things being out of sight. If you always know where to find an item or put it away, it isn’t too hard. I think when it’s all too full in the cabinets or drawers, it’s easier to keep it out, but that might also serve as an indicator that drawers and cabinets are too full. You could always try decluttering some stuff into a “time will tell bin” (Minimal Mom style), put the items in the counter away, and see if it makes it easier to function in the kitchen. You still have all the items if you happen to miss them, but could be a good experiment.
But if that’s not the case, then definitely pursue better visible organization. Cas from Clutterbug has good suggestions for different organizing types.
Congratulations. You are an inspiration to others.
So happy for you Melanie! What a journey we've been on together! You have come so far and we've been cheering you on, learning by your example, and feeling so much less alone with our hoards! I finally got control of my spare room. The attic is next!
Thanks for your encouragement to declutter. I am doing small areas so I do not get overwhelmed!❤❤
Your such an inspiration! ❤God bless and wishing you a great weekend from Ontario Canada❤🍁🍂🐿.
Love watching your encouraging podcasts! You have come a long way and are helping so many people! ❤❤
Beautiful. Your husband is quite the carpenter.
Amazing!
Gosh that carpet! 😨 It made such a difference when it came out! You have done SO amazing! 💖💖💖
FANTASTIC work! 🥳👏👏👏🎉 Way to go Ms. Heart! 🦄❤️🧡💛💚💙💜
January 2024. Your kids can help with kitchen chores. My kids did. My grandkids do. You've made progress. Tina, Al's wife
You're kitchen looks beautiful. I do pretty good at keeping the fridge cleaned out these days. I need to declutter the cabinets and better organize those. I really need to work on the pantry. Way to much in there and I'm sure I'll have to toss 1/2 of it. Thanks for the weekly talks. They really help.
I think it hurts more tossing out the wasted money, than the impulsive purchasing buzz....
LOVE IT! Can you PLEASE return to basement Fridays because it my Friyay for me. Thank you❤
Hello from Germany, hi Miss Heart. Remember the carpet, you can be🎉 so proud of you
Omg there’s a blast from the past. I totally forgot how dark your kitchen was. It looks absolutely beautiful now. You are doing great maintaining. It gives me hope 😂 Thanks for all the encouragement you give to me and others. Have a great week. Mary, Joes wife 🙇♀️👏👍💪🙏💐🐈
I've watched your videos several years ago. Glad to see you're still at it with decluttering!! You are inspiring!
Yay to celebrate the kitchen transformation! 🎉🎉🎉 It's nice that you clean out the fridge more often, not so many nasty surprises. 😅❤❤❤ I visited my parents before, suring and after Christmas and cleaned out something from their fridge every visit.... They are not good at it, but they like to get some help. 😊
What an amazing transformation! Well done! You are such an inspiration. ❤
Such an amazing transformation! You are so inspiring, Miss Heart. I'm so happy for your progress! 💖💖💖💖

Your kitchen looks great.
Great progress.
I am so proud of you. What a huge difference. ❤
You have come so far and continue to improve! Great job on crushing your disorder!
Hey hoarder queen plz share your routine
When you finally start your cleaning work ❤❤
I love it. 🇳🇱
What a wonderful transformation, congratulation to you and the whole family on you new kitchen and new lifestyle. I had forgotten the brown cabinets but the carpet is unforgettable 😉
Congratulations!!
Looking good!
Yes! How does hair get in the fridge?? 😂 I sweat I'm always picking dog hair out of drawers!
Same, except in my case it's cat hair! lol
Looks great
You should put an island. Something small 5ft, two cabinets. Will help more storage and more workspace. Just float over the floor.
More open space is freeing, not more storage. The idea is to live intentionally, not have/buy more stuff....
hmm do you think having a lazy susan in your fridge would help with the bottles so nothing gets stuck in the back? you can find bigger ones online!
My kitchen is bright (white and yellow everything except new white appliances) and friendly and obviously from 1962. I adore it. ; ) OMG, is that gorgeous floor the original hardwood!?
Thank you. I need hope to even begin.
Love it! Congratulations on your success in “letting go!” And also for spreading the 💕 !
Wow this is amazing encouragement!!
This is so impressive 👏 Well done 👌 😀
Great video!
Thank you!!
Maybe the carpet was a blessing in disguise? It forced you to declutter so that you could get to it and tear it out and put in new floor! 😊
You should read the starch solution. Such a great book.
❤❤😊
Did you watch Dawn’s recent podcast episode with Anna Runkle? That was excellent talk about dealing with childhood trauma, and how to move on.
I have old carpet in my kitchen as well and have always hated it.
The hardest thing for me to declutter is my home decor and diy supplies. They are taking over my house, but I enjoy having them and using them so much. I just don't have storage space. 😢
Maybe declutter "easy" stuff more often? So there is more space for the things that are close to heart.
❤❤❤
👏👏
Where did you get Ms. Pepper’s pet food mat?
🎉🎉🎉
I have the same problem! How does hair get in the fridge?
congratulations i find any kind of disorder interesting im an ‘ addict ‘ of watching hoarders episodes im on a minimalism journey never was a hoarder but had too much - in my mind - like most humans do this minimalism journey is taking longer than i thought it would but some of the process is enjoyable like the selling of items
❤👍
❤
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
How do you know what level of hoarding you are at? Is their a test?
Hi to my New Years Eve bin sister!! Still have it???
