Rise of the Ronin vs. Ghost of Tsushima - 15 BIGGEST DIFFERENCES

- čas přidán 14. 03. 2024
- Team Ninja's Rise of the Ronin is one of the more hyped titles of the year, with its launch coming up on March 22nd for PS5. Pre-release impressions have ranged from average to very positive, but some, if not all, draw comparisons to another Sony exclusive - Ghost of Tsushima.
Whether it's the open world, the combat or even the presentation, Ghost of Tsushima is seemingly the bar which Rise of the Ronin is measured against (for better or worse). Whether you're a fan of Sucker Punch's epic or looking for something similar, there are several differences between the two.
Check out 15 ways that Rise of the Ronin differs from Ghost of Tsushima, from their story and characters to the combat essentials and co-op. - Hry

You forgot to mention one of GOT’s ranged weapon, the one that terrifies the Mongols the most and one of my favourite stealth weapon in the game. It’s the Blowgun. man, this weapon is op asf, I mean u can poison anyone for stealth missions or hallucinate enemies making them fight one another, good for thinning out the herd.
The main thing keeping me from playing Rise of the Ronin at launch right now is I paid $60 for Ghost of Tsushima when that came out. Now Rise of the Ronin costs $70, and all due respect. While it looks like a nice game, I don’t hold it up to the standard that I should pay more for it than Tsushima. It’s kind of outclassed.
For me Ghost of Tsushima has the superior combat system just from looking at it. Its system captured Katana combat perfectly, and the fact that no enemy stays alive for more than a handful of slashes makes it feel immersive. Hell the blood splatter accurately matches your katana slashes. Whereas in rise of ronin it feels very video gamey to hit your enemies so many times… I’m looking forward to the game for sure but just because of the approach to combat it will be second to GoT in my book I’m quite confident.
Only problem with Ghost are the boss fights. Too easy. And combat system became repetitive quick.
Ghost has the Superior combat system Rise combat look like an arcade beat em up.
@@TP9.They are definitely not easy on Lethal difficulty, which is how the game should be experienced
@@davidd.6448 Yeah I played Lethal on first playthrough and it was only challenging in like the first 3hrs. Once you get upgrades and ghost skills it was easy.
I don't think we can say GoT combat is better yet. The parry system for RoR looks very satisfying like Lies of P, and ninja team have very good history of satisfying combat. But we'll see - I definitely think it will fall very short of GoT, but I'm hoping the combat may be the one area that will live up to GoT.
Weird comparison here.....not because the two games are not similar, in fact the two games, Ghost of Tsushima and Rise of Ronin, are very similar overall but because some of the worse criticism of Rise of the Ronin is that it doesn't look as good as Ghost of Tsushima, yet Elden Ring on every platform doesn't look nearly as good as Demon Souls on PS5 but no one ever said Elden Ring looks like a PS3 game (even though it does in comparison to Demon Souls). The same can be said of the animations between Elden Ring and Demon Souls, yet no one said anything about that either.
I 've come to the conclusion that Rise of the Ronin suffers from an acute case of this game isn't on the platform some people prefer so the game is being criticized for things that people don't criticize other games for. Something tells me if this game was multiplatform that the same people talking about horse animations and graphics would be people saying how excited they are to play the next big entry from Team Ninja because thier combat is always top notch. Meanwhile I am just grateful i don't have to choose between Ghost of Tsushima or Rise of Ronin because I played Ghost on day 1 and I will be playing Rise of Ronin day 1. Fortunately for people like me, a good game is a good game regardless of where it is so just like I enjoyed Elden Ring even though it didn't look as good or have as smooth an animation set as Demon Souls, i will be enjoying Rise of Ronin just as I enjoyed Ghost of Tsushima. 😂

At the same time, I wondered why we couldn’t release a game like Ghost of Tsushima back then. Ghost of Tsushima served as good encouragement for creating Rise of the Ronin."
At no point did either of the two you mentioned stated that the game was "HEAVILY INSPIRED" by Ghost. You completely misquoted and misinterpreted their words to spread misinformation.
They only used the game as a reference point and was "inspired" by the fact that the game featured in Japan made by western developers was so detailed in their history and was wildly successful in its release. Nothing more than that.
A game can't be inspired by another game when both were in development simultaneously. Ghost started in 2014 while Ronin started in 2015.

I prefer Rise of the Ronin because Nioh 1 and Nioh 2 are wonderful fighting games and that is it what I want. The Rise of the Ronin graphics are not the best but I like the style. I have played Nioh 1, Nioh 2 and Wo Long and I like them all very much! Team Ninja has never disappoint me.
Yeah graphics don’t really matter that much when a game is that fun like nioh, even fromsoft games don’t have the best graphics and yet Elden ring won goty. People will still cry about graphics tho unfortunately
Thanks again for your videos and hard work
Thanks for your take
I’m going to buy this game but I just want to say…. I feel like the biggest difference will be exploration and combat.
Exploration in the Nioh games just seemed unimportant. You get so much loot that it’s almost a problem to get more. Jorraptor literally said “I played for 5 hours and acquired 200 pieces of equipment.” That’s absolutely insane. Loot seems insignificant. Much like it was in Nioh unless you were farming.
Ghost probably has much better exploration…. And this goes back to my last point… has meaningful loot to find in the open world by completing shrines or completing Bandit / Mongol camps.
I'm tired of seeing all of the "Soulslike" comments. RoR is not a Soulslike. Not even close. Good lord, the amount of people commenting who have no knowledge whatsoever about the game, beyond it's name, is really worrying to me.
It's a team ninja game. No one cares enough to look into it past its name. Just more mid that will be on sale in a week
The only thing that makes souls the game stand out is the fact that enemies respawn for no reason you basically have to repeat everything you’ve done the games are not difficult. They are just annoying.
You know they're gonna call any 3rd person action game a souls like these days. It's annoying.

I'm sure the game very is good (it's Team Ninja afterall), but that horrible open world LOD, flat lighting, and blurry textures hurt my eyes and soul. I know it's smaller budget, etc., but it deserves better.
Don’t think the comparison is necessary but makes sense to make the video considering plenty of people keep comparing the games. I loved Ghost of Tsushima and look forward to Rise of The Ronin.
Comparing this Yakuza like arcade game to Ghost of Tsushima is doing a disservice towards the latter. Compare it to Ishin like a dragon.

I LOVE Ghost of Tsushima, but my opinion is that we can't compare those games! One has not come out yet, and it needs a little time to grow. Once it is where Ghost is with Dlc , etc...THEN yall fan boys and girls can compare away. 😂
maybe someone will compare this game to ishin kiwami :D
Honestly, I'm pretty satisfied with this. With ghosts couldn't play It too long. The combat got kinda boring with the same weapon
All i know is Jin Sakai was one of the most boring protags i've ever played.
Ghosts graphics are on another tier completely...that said the combat in Ronan looks way more fun
Rise looks like a ps3 game and ghost looks like current Gen 😂
See, this is where it gets annoying cus like why are we comparing two different games to each other? If yall go into this game expecting it to be like GoT, you've already ruined the game for yourself. All I've been hearing is that it's a cross between Nioh and Seikro, that's a better comparison imo.
all the customization with your characters already beats GoT
Nope.
GoT didn't need it.
@@lemming9984it did becuase it was repetitive as fuck lol.
The dude from friends is in this?
