Two of my favorite Broadway performers of all time singing one of my favorite Broadway duets ever?! As a theatre nerd named Lily, this is like a dozen Christmases.
And please, everyone, NEVER let us forget that Rebecca Luker starred in the original production of "The Secret Garden" as Lily. This luminous star blessed our lives for so many years in many, many ways. A shining light on all that we are (or could be) and forever to be held in our hearts.
Raul, Tveit and Pasquale in the background are just feeling the moment.....LOVE IT All it needed was their friend, and original Lilly, Rebecca Luker's face to appear on the screen
I've just listened to this a few more times after hearing it for the 1st time and I JUST noticed the 3 men's reactions!. Aw Rebecca. Imagine if this could have been a trio with Rebecca singing with them (especially that last note) I imagine the stage crumbling from the magnitude of the beauty of their 3 voices.

And had a significant run as ADA on Law&Ordee SVU.....well to name a dew
I have lost count of the number of times Iâve watched this. Total goosebumps when they hit the key change. And watching my absolute three favorite male voices on Broadway practically falling off their chairs in ecstasy is the icing on the cake!

The way Audra sings âI long for the dayâ reached into my chest and physically tugged at my heart. I just lost my therapy cat, and the emotion in Audraâs performance is so cathartic to see. Exceptional talent and performance from both Audra and Kelli.
Amazing- more than enough room for two sopranos on soprano island. I love watching the reactions of their fellow performers in the side. they were blown away, as was I.
This has always been one of my fave musical duets, ever since I saw a production of The Secret Garden back in 2004âŠand these ladies made me love the song even more. I never thought of it being adapted for sopranos, but this was absolutely incredible. â€ïž
I love the fact that Audra had her broadway and touring debut in The Secret Garden, and is now performing the most incredible song from that show. And Kelli OâHara more than holds her own. đ

Maybe it's because this was uploaded during pride month, or because the lyrics aren't changed - but something about Audra singing "those eyes that loved my BROTHER, never me" creates a queer arc that I never knew I needed but I'm LIVING for it
Audra's voice is so thick and robust. Kelli is great as well. When I first saw the title I thought it was in his eyes from Jekyll and Hyde. This was a pleasant surprise.
I love the way Steven Pasquale sort of gets up out of his seat to look over at Kelli just as she hits that last high note, and Oh does she. Perfection.
I saw Mandy and Robert Westerberg in the original Broadway production and have always held it up as the gold standard but, man oh man, this one is right up there with it.
I have only recently discovered these two absolutely superb singers and performers. They are both now part of my life every day. Thanks to the contributers to CZcams.

Marveleus duet Kelli is a lyric soprano and Audra is a dramatic soprano who can sing as a mezzo soprano.Both are now the leading Broadway sopranos who are together in The Gilded Age and Kelli also sings opera at the Metropolitan Opera
It is wonderful; the sentiment.I love them both (especially Audra). But damn, this number is possibly THE best representation of the sad and tragic inadequacy of the Male partner to express the often hidden agony of their inability in real time to express the total awe we feel for our spouses. The miracle of womanhood, and that such amazing creature can tolerate our weaknesses and failures to love us. I beseech you to find the version from the original show. Why male who performs this knows the truth, and it shows...
Going to be the first who makes that one Harry Potter reference, but which two female characters can you imagine singing this? Molly Weasley comes to mind, maybe Petunia but not too sure on that one. Or a genderswapped Snape and Sirius/Lupin?
@@meredithchandler73 during a concert she did at 54 Below, Laura Benanti, had made a comment about sopranos and belting, and a whole "soprano isle", where they'd send Melissa Ericco, Kelli O'Hara, and Audra McDonald, where they'd all just sit around and drink from coconuts and sing "Glitter and be gay" at each other. So with two of those ladies singing with each other here, the "Benanti Prophecy" is near complete! :)

My first Broadway show at 10 and I was lucky enough to see her live. It was life changing. RL was an exquisite performer. Sheâs so missed.
