Sold my sw20 mint interior and engine with sills rotten for a song.
Still had the bags in the back seats with the t-top covers and the sunshades.
94 car - Thing was Mint condition inside.
I never should have let it go.
p.s. since we filmed this video I had 10 minutes behind the wheel of a 997 Porsche 911 GT3 RS and my comparison between the two philosophies does indeed hold true!

Beautiful toyota. It's a remarkable combination. A pretty old chassis but with an updated engine. That is how you make use of an amazing car.

+florin colesnicenco I completely agree. Our camera assistant and good friend of ours rode shotgun while we were filming some of this and he wants one really badly now. Said it was some of the most fun he's ever had in a car... And he's ridden in almost every car we've filmed including all of the 1000hp builds and the Porsche 918.

I love the fact that the stock engine in the mr2 is the same engine as my 1989 Camry. (just different generation)

I used to always drive alongside this car to work down behind market crossing, i always tried to catch up to it in my Z in traffic to hear it because i was so curious about the sound. Now i know why it sounds so different from any sw20 ive ever heard! Beautiful car

I've considered a v6 in my sw20 but the two stroke style power rush is so addictive and on the strip the tweeked 3sgte trounces even blown v6"s

I was a second-gem SW20 of a couple of years, and loved the car. My plan was to perform this exact conversion, but the car was hit by a jackass and totaled, before I could start the project. Respectfully, though - this isn't a GT3 version of anything - it's a budget Lotus Evora... It's a very powerful, very civilized, daily-drivable sport car. An inspiring video, about a fantastic car!

My first car was a 97 Camry that I swapped in a 1mz-fe with a trd supercharger that made 310 at the tire. Reminds me of that with him having the v6

What a slick machine and great video! When I got my Supra there was a SW20 MR2 Turbo right beside it, if it wasn't for the fact it was yellow I probably would have gotten that instead.

I'm not knocking your accomplishments, I think what you done is great. We need more people that think outside of the box. since I was a teenager I always wanted to crossdress cars. I have family members engine swaps so I knew about that already. in the domestic our world people take big blocks out of whatever and put them practically in or on anything they can get them on.
However I'm the type of guy you would see a car that you like the way it looked but didn't like the way for looked or sounded . I'm just a Honda motor guy so don't take any offense to what I say. you've done something great congrats

Amazing car and part of the reason I decided to put a 2GR in mine. But I decided on a Link G4+ Fury ECU, water/meth injection and now putting a GT3582r on it.

great build and I like that you're not chasing power only. Most keyboard warriors have never actually driven a vehicle with 300+hp atw to begin with. Anything over 120mph on a public road is fast and anything can happen on public roads as well~keep up the great work!-)

Having real trouble here.
I've been set to replace my BMW E46 320i with an MR2 Roadster but I owned and loved an sw20 94 na for many years. I'm so tempted to find a v6 modded sw20.
I always thought the problem with the gs-ge was the lack of torque low down.
On a UK motorway it wasn't anywhere near as good overtaking as the BMW and on an A-road in the highlands of Scotland you really had to pick your moments.
Seems to me the V6 swap would fix that.
I'd miss the really peaky sportscar feel of the GS-GE but I'd probably enjoy the torque of the car more.
And that chasis and bodyshape is still about my favourite.

I bought a 2006 BMW Z4 2.5si.
It has a wonderful N52 engine that revs to 7k.
It has M suspension and goes round corners like it's on rails with the ability to provoke a bit of slide if you turn the ECT off.
It even has a great boot so my girlfriend and I can go on road trips for the week.
Really great car.
In many ways better than my MR2. I can overtake much easier and it holds the road better.
It's not as exciting though.
The sound from the six up front is amazing but it's nowhere near as intense as the 3s-ge with a K+N 54i and a 3.5 inch janspeed backbox and a higher flow sports cat.
That Mr2 sounded like a supercar. The K+N had this ability to add a delay to the sound so you heard the inital and then a second sound so it sounded more like a V8 or something.
As the revs built you got the same positive interference and harmonics so it sounded really good.
The Z4 is faster but the MR2 felt more epic to drive.
I need to own one again and convert it to a modern Toyota V6 and supercharge it.

It was dyno'd at KO Racing, but I live in Vancouver, BC. I'm often down for any of the bigger meets though.
