The fact they flipped out on her is funny cause if you check the list of instructions summer has, the last one says to leave the room before Rick and Morty wake up.
It's funny how many people didn't notice that. I remember pausing it to read the instructions
if you look carefully you can see that Jerry had two other mindblowers removed. they labeled as "apple campaign" and "sleepy gary"

I think Dan just loves the joke of a “flashback” episode that is all new content.
It remains true to the trope of a flashback episode, while winking at the fact that they aren’t just recycling prior content.
Yup, plus it gets to be random clips that they don't really have to worry about being "canon" and all that, they can just do fun little short things that they had ideas for that didn't fit into other episodes, like the squirrels.

Episodes like “Interdimensional Cable” and “Morty’s Mindblowers” are collections of vignettes, shorter stories that aren’t long enough for a full episode.
The "clips you never saw" part is also something Harmon did on _Community_ a couple of times.

I wouldn't say that Harmond and Roiland argue, but they do have differing opinions on a lot of things and will always wait until a conclusion is reached before actually going ahead with the production of an episode. It has caused them to release seasons at a slower pace than other shows would, but as long as the outcome is amazing, I think it's worth the wait.
There's a Gravity Falls reference in terms of names on two of the vials, IIRC. Also, the character in the Truth Tortoise bit is based off Morpheus from Neil Gaiman's Sandman. The menagerie bit was based off the movie Contact.

This episode makes such an amazing point about religion. Even if one of them were true, it would be impossible to know which one, prior to dying. Odds are, you're praying to the wrong piece of wood.
One of the clips that never made it into this but was supposed to be was young!Rick sneaking into the Smith house to play with baby!Morty and then portalling out before he got caught only to be caught by toddler!Summer who called for her parents. He's been secretly visiting Morty for a long time and just removing it from everyone's memories. That was where the photo of young!Rick holding baby!Morty came from.
The one that concerns me a lot is the Rick-wanted-it-removed vial that's labeled "virginity".
