She looks lovely in the beginning, but if you compare, you can see in the beginning that she looks tired, her features are not accentuated, a little makeup takes care of these things.

As she said, with cameras and lighting, they can make people look any way they want; even flawless, like they aren't wearing any makeup. I've worked on a few sets and seen the makeup artists in action: For a natural, "nude," no-makeup look, on a character who was 16 (the actress was 20) they put a ton of makeup on her. I mean, a TON. In person, she looked a little over-done and artificial. On screen, she looked clean and flawlessly natural, like she wasn't wearing any makeup at all. It's really kind of impressive.
Margaret did a beautiful job recreating the look here and with the right lighting and effects, it would probably look extremely close, even dead on, to the character's look in the show. And I can pretty safely guarantee that Emilia Clarke is wearing FAR more makeup than it looks like she's wearing.
Also keep in mind that every face is different and Emilia's natural coloring, shading and contours add to her over-all look. Even a person who looks this similar needs a little help to make it look perfect! Besides, the ONLY person who could possibly make the makeup look *exactly* like Emilia's is Emilia's own makeup artist and it would have to be on Emilia's own face to look *exactly* the same. Even then, they'd need the same camera and the same lighting, filters and effects used in the show to make it look, "right."
So, be nice. She did a fantastic job!
Oh, and for tutorials, (if this is meant to be a tutorial any way) yes, please, a bit more explanation of how-to is greatly appreciated. ;) Like technique and colors used and brushes/tools used to achieve a certain effect. :)

Alright, first a compliment: The makeup is absolutely amazing. I came here through an article on the website of the British Express where I saw an image of the end result and was completely awestruck. It's beautiful and very much looks like Daenerys' daily look while it's also extremely natural and makes for a very suitable everyday look one can easily wear at work.
Now some (hopefully constructive) criticism. I'm disappointed by the things you say in the video. Basically you repeat numerous times how natural and beautiful this makeup is. We (the viewers) know it's natural and we know it's beautiful; that's why we came to this video to learn how to achieve this look ourselves. But there isn't a single mention of what exactly you do on her face, nor do you show any makeup articles or give any advice on a colour palette.Simply telling us to use 'earthy tones' isn't enough. In a tutorial you have to explain every step of the way so even those people with the least amount of experience of applying makeup can successfully recreate the look themselves. But this is basically just a video of someone applying makeup on someone.
On a side note I'd like to mention that it's probably not a very good idea to use a model who already looks a lot like the person you're recreating but rather someone who does not look like the desired person and transform her with makeup so even those among us who have not been blessed with Emilia's looks can pull this off.
Still, you're a very talented makeup artist and if you were to take my criticisms into consideration, I'm absolutely sure you'll make a magnificent CZcams tutor!

I think the makeup looks great but your talking really turned me off. You spoke for 12 minutes about doing an authentic look not couture and why people should wear this natural look and how upset people were about your last look. I understand you used very little products and it was a simple look but it frustrated me all the bulltalk in between especially since it was mainly the same things over and over...

Also, it wouldn't have been hard to look up how to pronounce Daenerys. It doesn't really matter I guess but it irked me how you kept saying "Die-nearys"

I don't mind the brows & eye shadow. The rest of the face, however shouldn't be made up. In fact, she looked less like Dani, once the cheek & lip make-up went on her face.

Wow, I honestly thought that was actually Emilia Clarke you were working on. The model looks so much like her - she could totally get a job on the show as a body double or something...
First of all, it's clear this woman is a professional and posting these basically for our benefit. So thank you.
That being said, am I alone in thinking this is a pretty silly/rookie mistake, the foundation seems too yellow/tan? Doesn't match the model's skin? It must be lighting. No professional would make that mistake.
Without the yellowish foundation this would be great (in real life, a BB cream + powder/luminizer in key places would probably do fine). I do appreciate the technique where she used a medium brown from eyebrow to tear duct (it seems obvious now but I've never done that). Also I love the way she does eyebrows. But yeah, hard to see anything past the (seeming) foundation mismatch. I'm mostly about natural makeup, as my grandma used to say "if they can tell you're wearing it it's too much" (which is partly why I love Daenerys).

Er, insensate is not the right word you were looking for. That doesn't make sense. But no I wasn't saying that professionals are infallible. In fact I think that's the point of my comment.
As a photographer/videographer, I can tell you that it's the type of lighting being captured by the camera that makes her look yellow.
Katy Wiggins Sarah Loven I agree with both, The light she's using isn't helping because it does make her look more tanned than she probably is but still she has a lot of color For Dhanerys. also I have to say the make up ends up looking a lil' more "Sansa"... the sightly redish eyes... idk. xoxo!
Katy Wiggins insinuate* and i didn't gather that from your post. you referred to it as a rookie mistake, as though professionals don't make those form time to time. even so, i don't agree that it's too dark, but if i were doing an inspired look of a character that spends their time in the sun and would be tanner, i'd do the make up darker to complete the look, regardless of it being slightly off skin tone. just means more of a need to blend out.
Why anyone who is that pretty would ever wear that much make up is beyond me. She looked much better without the eye brow make up, and all the blush and contour.
Why are you watching make-up tutorials then? This was a verrrry basic look as far as make-up tutorials go :)

Because I found it interesting. Basic or not, it's a lot of make up for the average person. Looks great in photo shoots, but it would be a lot of make up for an average day. The only reason I made the comment was because I thought the girl was very beautiful, and I thought, "damn... if I were that pretty I would never wear make up, I wouldn't need it." To me, make up if for covering flaws, and when you don't have any, well...
Lucretciela i agree with you that young people and beautiful people should use a minimum amount of makeup, just to cover flaws... but i think this makeup was indeed for photo shoots and i really liked it, specially the eyes!! the only thing i didn't like was the eyebrows that i think looked more like danny's before

Yeah, I got that it was a "natural look" after the sixth time she said it. Just tell us what you're doing and which products you used, please. After this, I couldn't recrate this look for the life of me, even though it doesn't look that hard.
I was about to write the same thing. The make up looks great but it is impossible to listen to her. Everything she said in those 12 minutes could have been condensed into 3-4 minutes and other than seeing the make up getting done I still only have a vague idea of how it is actually done.

Daenerys only looks like she has no makeup on because its ON CAMERA. You have to wear makeup on camera if you don't want to look drawn out. And I'm not talking about your average video camera that you got for $300. Also, on set, like she said, the lighting is entirely different and placed so that it reflects off of her skin, making her look flawless and natural.
