Bill Apter HATED the Ric Flair actor in The Iron Claw

Bill Apter, Senior Editor at Sportskeeda Wrestling, was invited to a special screening of The Iron Claw, a movie based on the legendary Von Erich family. And while he had many good things to say about the film, he wasn't a fan of the actor who played Ric Flair. Teddy Long and Mac Davis too were very critical of the man. Could Will Ferrell have saved the part? And finally, a picture of Big Dave Bautista is being circulated in which he seems to have lost a lot of weight.

The only Flair scene that was bad was the interview, his mannerisms & ring work were spot on.
The only person that can play Ric Flair is Ric Flair.
I am glad Bill brought it up too. Zac looked too much like Kerry that I kept thinking it was him then realizing that's Kevin! Definitely they should have had Zac play Kerry Hell he was acting like Kerry anyways so it wouldn't have been hard to change that.
they should make a Ric Flair movie that's a movie that a lot of people will go see. but with a hell of a lot better actor..
I thought the same thing when I watched the movie. I don’t know how that actor got cast to play Flair.
Theres an actor who is rumored to be ric flair in the proposed biopic, his name is Sebastián Stan, they should have gave him the part in the iron claw to see what hes got
I like Sebastian Stan, but I don't know if it would have been worth it for the filmmakers to pay him so much for what amounts to a cameo. He wasn't in the movie very long at all.
That's my only real criticism of the movie. I get cutting out Chris, because it just would have been too much. However, Aaron Dean Eisenberg totally fumbled the ball as Ric Flair. There were flashes of him there, but he was mostly way off the mark. I get not casting a big name for what was essentially a cameo, but they could have gotten someone to do better than that. The actor they got for Harley Race, for example, was spot on.
Remove Bill's name and insert EVERYONE
They should’ve let the dude do the role without speaking … At least without allowing him to do the promo. Because his scene in the Locker room with Kevin , Kerry, & Fritz Von Erich wasn’t bad at all. But the promo was just like an impression of an impression. Idk how Durkin didn’t cut it. They should’ve bought the real promo from WWE. Then utilized the actor in ring & locker room.
I think that's a much better idea. He was fine in the ring and in the locker room. The promo, however, was way off, like a bad impression, as you said.
He looked like Gorgeous George when he made his ring entrance. The old time wrestler not Macho Man's valet.
I agree with Bill on this one too -- i thought the movie was okay -- not great but okay but the actor who played Flair was bad too -- there is only 1 ric flair -- and no one can do ric flair like ric flair but they should have done a much better search for one -- Rough Cuts
wait Zach isnt Kerry???? wtf in the trailer, i thought he was.... and why not have a screening for real wrestling fans so they can test it first then a screen for general afterwards....i still watch it, i grew up in the AWA, NWA days....love this chit

Sounds like lousy casting directors. I mean how hard would it be to find an actor that can play an acceptable Ric Flair? Only easier wrestler to imitate would have been Macho Man!

Disliked! The kid who played Falir and I had an email exchange, seemed like a nice kid and understood the critical drubbing. I told him he was terrible, but he said he gave it his best shot. 🤷🏻♂️
