Yes this is very accurate and precised if done exactly how I did it, take a piece of metal or flat stock and scribe an X on it. The reason for Scribing is that way you can keep the tip of the plumb bub running true inside the scratch the scratch is more thinner and precised than a pen or pencil Mark! Lay across your tool post guide. That way it runs the length of your cuts and by doing this you know exactly how your tool post slide is acting when you are cutting. This is probably more precised than a STARRETT precision level because you want it level or plum all the way across. And people never check their carriage. I see them use a precision level on 1 2 3 precision blocks but they never check the cross slide aka tool post !!
